Hi Matt. . We are flying direct to Tampere from Stansted so I do not think we have any problems at the moment but will keep your offer in mind. We are assuming there is a bus from the airport into Tampere. We are staying at the Holiday Inn and it looks as though it is within walking distance of the stadium which is good.

Grand Prix Speedway In Finland 2014-2016
mojo replied to f-s-p's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thank you for your replies. Yes we use Ryanair a lot, mainly for Poland, and they do usually inform you by e-mail but not this time. I also looked for the "Contact Us" section but that doesn't look very helpful. I only checked it as we need to arrange transport to Stansted so it was lucky I hadn't bought train tickets or booked a stopover. The new time will be okay but we had hoped for a few more hours in Tampere and sometimes go to the practice as well. Ryanair are supposed to be coming more customer friendly but they think "you can have your money back" covers them. -

When I booked my flights to Tampere from Stansted (Friday 16th) the departure was 8am. Now according to Ryanair's website it is 5pm but I haven't received any notification from them. Has anyone else noticed this? -

The Cost Of A Grand Prix Ticket
mojo replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was also very interesting that when we purchased our ticket for the World Cup in Prague, at £19ish, we were given free admission to the race off on the Thursday. Cheap at half the price. Also nice to note that the tickets for Tampere next year are all half price for OAPs. -

Does anyone know if there are any special trains/buses planned for Saturday. I know you can take the train to Solna and walk, which is fine, but wondered if there are any other alternatives. -
Thanks for info - have been checking but hadn't looked for a day or two. Have booked now and appear to have one ticket covering both meetings for about £20!!!

Does anyone know when the tickets for the two events in Prague will be on sale?

barrow boy here again. Nobody has been in touch yet. I have just tried to open a new account but I cannot get by the Email box because it refuses to accept my Email entry because it is already in use. I know this because it is mine but I cannot access my account for some reason. I therefore am unable to use this forum and am not allowed to open a new account. What must I do? Anyone?
-
Sorry to hijack this topic. This is barrow boy not mojo who has kindly allowed me to come on here to explain that I cannot get on the forum. I have tried to log in to open my account again but I cannot remember my password. I have completed the boxes to this effect and have been told that I will get an Email with instructions on how to unlock my account but nothing has been received. I have also tried to open a new account under the name of barrow boy which I wish to retain but it comes up that this is already in use as is my Email address. If one of the moderators could advise me I would be most obliged.,

What Gp To See
mojo replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Poland - cheapest flights and beer.Prague and Stockholm - nicest cities. Prague - beer still cheap if you avoid the tourist bits. Copenhagen - very expensive. Depends what you want in addition to the speedway! We love Prague and Stockholm but obviously haven't been to the new stadium yet. Been to Copenhagen twice but prefer the others. -
I had a similar problem in 2010 for 2011 tickets. I e-mailed them and received a reply from jan.vanous@ticketportal.cz. He said to put some numbers in the box (Prague 1 is 110 00) and then put your full name and address on the payment page.Ticketstream and Ticketportal both usually sell tickets but seem to have different rows in each section.

Missing Czech Grand Prix Tickets!
mojo replied to thomasthedog's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I ordered mine from Ticketportal and they arrived within a week. That was the 2nd January. Must admit I had a lot of trouble when ordering them as the information changed from English to Czech on the payment page and I thought I had to collect them. I had to e-mail them and they replied promptly in English. If you are using them I can let you have the name of the person I e-mailed. -
Sorry this is a bit late but have been away. We have used Ticketstream in the past, but Ticketportal for the last two years as the ticket availability varies on each site. This year we have paid 590 per ticket (Block H) plus 80 for postage and 98 for insurance, so it is about £47 for 2 which isn't bad. The tickets arrived 2/3 days later.

Which Gp To Go To?
mojo replied to thomasthedog's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This year will be about our 10th visit to Prague. Cannot guarantee the racing but we always find something new to do in the lovely city. Prices are reasonable for food and drink. Easy to get to track on the trams. Torun also great to stay in - flights to Bydgoszcz and then train to Torun. Cheap hotels. Tram to track. We like Wroclaw and Gdansk but unfortunately Wroclaw is no more. Gothenburg is a nice city but Copenhagen was very busy busy and expensive, stadium seating very steep. Didn't really like Vojens - in the middle of nowhere so you need a car as with Gorica and Terenzano. -
Totally agree with MFE. If it wasn't for the city of Prague I do not think we would bother. This was our 10th visit, our first being 1998, but seriously thinking about giving it a miss next year. We paid £35 but the prices have gone up and up each year and nothing has improved, and the flights were much more expensive. The first year we went, a gentleman (who posts on this thread) stopped and shook our hands and thanked us for coming. Since then more and more English fans have been and we have made a lot of friends. This year however, we did not meet any of them except one who is English but lives in Prague. I didn't think there were as many Scandanavian fans as usual and if the Poles didn't come the place would be empty!

Unfortunately we cannot make Bydgoszcz this year - my friend having been many times hoping for a Gollob win. I would like to buy a scarf for her, the english version please.
-
See you at the track if we can tear ourselves away from the poolside at TC.

Does anyone know if and when the Torun GP is likely to be staged in 2011? I need to book a family holiday and do not want to clash with a visit to Torun.

Prague May 22nd Its Official This Time
mojo replied to beercellar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Me and "Mrs Gollob" are hoping to fly out from Birmingham on Wednesday. Our flight has already been changed twice so hopefully it will be third time lucky! See you in the beer tent on Saturday. -
We were booked to go to Prague from Birmingham on the Thursday before the GP and they have cancelled the flight altogether and offered us Friday, but they are not willing to change our return flight on Sunday to Monday unless we pay a lot more money! We had already booked the hotel for three nights but fortunately had not paid but they do not know that. It is okay to say you can have your money back but that is not the answer when you are travelling for a specific event.
-
We always buy ours on line from Ticketstream and have never had a problem. You print your own e-voucher that you take along on the day. They show you a seating plan of the stadium and you pick your own seats. Last year they had installed a lot more seating whereas the bends and backstraight were mostly standing before. There is quite a range of prices so it depends how much you can afford or where you prefer to watch from.

When we flew from Birmingham to Bydgoszcz in October on the Friday flight they said that that weekend was the last flight to Bydgoszcz but we thought it was because it was the end of the summer timetable. Because we didn't want to stay until the Monday night we flew back into Stansted on the Sunday monring and caught a train back to Leicester. It cost £11.50 and the trains are every hour. They actually run from Stansted to Birmingham. It is okay if you do not have to leave your car at the airport.
