  1. Thought I'd give this a bump, Millsy has now returned to Kings Lynn. As his PL average is over 4 the Buccs will now have to find a new number 1. Buxton had to do the same with Charles Wright so if Millsy is allowed to stay on at Bournemouth I wouldn't be surprised however it would be an absolute travesty.
  2. Oh this just gets better and better! You just don't know when to draw the line Roger. Remind me to bring you a spade when I next visit the SBA, the size of the hole you are currently digging yourself, your one must be getting pretty worn now. To top it all off you have put a prospective paying customer against the idea of visiting the SBA due to your threatening post towards torpoint... Well done.
  3. How amusing, so let me get this straight, Torpoint was the only fan in the whole stadium who thought Kyle was unlucky and to top it off you are saying you are entitled to an opinion but Torpoint isn't... How amusing.
  4. It's not sticking up for Torpoint's opinion, but more the way he was shot down. Sometimes things get heated, however the way you type your replies on this and other forums can sometimes be the difference between an argument and a debate. At the end of the day, speedway is speedway, the referee's decision is final, if you don't agree with someone's view on the forum it doesn't neccesitate a blunt reply straight away.
  5. Torpoint is allowed a view on what happened in the meeting. Some people might think whatyouve said 'don't matter' but there's no need for such a blunt reply. Nothing wrong with stating if we had a bit of luck things could have been different.
  6. I'd like to say that this is getting ridiculous now. This is not a race issue and the fact that that 'card' has been played is pretty low in my opinion. Dave's views are strong and will not be changed, whilst the same goes for the other British posters, myself included, on this thread. Whilst the rules allow commonwealth riders into the National League then there is nothing stopping it from happening, however much we debate here. A majority of promoters will of course be for keeping things as they are, though fan power can change that, perhaps a petition asking for the NL to become Brits only, the control bureau cannot ignore something if a large number of fans make an official statement of their views IMO. This is not 'anti-Aussie' just sorting the wheat from the chaff, if an Aussie comes over, they ride PL on a 5 point average so signing them is more of a gamble/the better riders get signed up still. It would then mean rather than a NL team perhaps employing a mediocre Australian (there have been some, surprisingly ), they would have to use a mediocre Brit another issue which needs looking at is lowering the points limit, by it's nature that means more teams will have to use three point British riders anyway.
  7. This obscure document is the official rulebook for British Speedway in 2010... Unbelieveable . I have stated in one post that you were being hypocritical, backed up by evidence, that is not personal abuse in my book but reasoned argument. As for lightening up, I don't need any, however I take umbridge to somebody telling me that I have an 'anti-aussie' attitude due to what other people have said!
  8. Attack the post not the poster, I've not attacked you once, I have proven your point is wrong, thus you are being hypocritical, something I have correctly stated. You are also now being patronising as i'm sure calling me 'Benny boy' is in reference to my age, something which does not invalidate my opinion, or allow you to speak to me in such a tone. Yes you have provided three examples, however they were not posted by me and are not my opinion, I am not 'anti-aussie' and I have stated that beforehand, I have proven to you that the league is called the National Development League and there is no denying that fact.
  9. Oh dear, I believe if you look here which is the British Speedway Rulebook for 2010 you will find that you are a hypocrite. As for your examples, not one is of a post I have made, I can't control what other people say, can I?
  10. It's funny how I have stated in my previous posts that this is not an 'anti-aussie' issue but an issue of doing more for our own youngsters as well, but of course BFD decided to neglect that fact. He also neglects the fact that the league is called the National DEVELOPMENT League. It is written in the rulebook, we're not making it up.
  11. Exactly, the Commonwealth riders may well add excitement etc to the league and there may be lots of positives to it, however the big negative is that they are stunting the progress of young Brits. I'm not so fussed by the older riders in the league tbh, they are British riders still after all. The solution is an obvious one, the points limit needs lowering at this level, that way more 3 point Brits will have to be used. We need to put the British riders first, sorry if we are raining on big fat daves parade but this is the British speedway forum and we want to see British riders in our British National Development League teams. Every other country put their own riders first so it's time we did the same for once.
  12. Nobody is slagging him off, it's the circumstances in which has been brought in, I suspect you knew that and just wanted to stir though. As Dyer has not turned a wheel for the Heathens and is pretty much unknown in Britain, to state that he is the best option is ridiculous. I'm sure that there would have been a proven British rider on a 6 point average somewhere. Again, how can you make that assumption when Dyer has not raced in the British League yet. You can't tell someone that they are wrong based on an assumption of your own. Lucas was right too... The whole "Aussies make sacrifices" thing doesn't wash with me either. If they want to come half way across the world to further their careers that is their perogative, it doesn't mean we have to hand them everything on a platter because they have done so. When it was the Conference League there were no commonwealth riders in the league and the lowest point of entry for a commonwealth rider was as a 7 point Premier League rider. Why we have decided to make things easier baffles me. I agree with lowering the assesed PL figure to 5 perhaps, as 7 is hard to achieve but that should be the lowest entry point for any commonwealth rider to British speedway, that way the decent riders will still come over and there will be less of a "lets have him because he's Australian" attitude. If there are commonwealth riders with patriality then the lowest point of entry could be, say a 3 point PL average or a 6 point NL figure, however this would depend on the rider racing as a Brit. If riders want to use our system then we should get some benefit from it.
  13. No doubt about it, British speedway is slowly slipping off the map, now we even have British riders being dropped in favour of Aussies in the National League, however Micky Dyer sounds more like a rejected Eastenders character imo...
  14. I completely understand and respect your view Mariner, I do feel if these Aussies are going to use their parents/grandparents British heritage as a way to race here on a 3 point average, then they should commit to race as British riders, whether they will or not is of course another matter.
  15. I agree with SCB's post, Buxton are a superbly run outfit, on a budget whilst generally being near the top of the table as well as developing riders. Mariner, Morris and Branford have taken advantage of their British heritage, who knows maybe they will, as Tai Woffinden before them, pledge to race as Brits in the future. I think it's a bit disrespectfulfor some to assume the Hitmen have been a 2 man team this season, all of their riders are very talented and contributing to their current good form.
  16. Can only echo what everyone else has said, Tomcat in particular, I never met Jean although we often spoke here via private message about the tigers or thE national league in general it was always a pleasure to have these discussions with Jean and she was clearly Mildenhall through and through. My thoughts are with Ray and everyone close to Jean and the mascall family. R.I.P Jean
  17. Surely if he has been regarded as something of a snob by some the Kent Kings would be more apt?
  18. Simple answer, go out under cover of darkness with some spray paints and spray the Kings logo all over the side of Allied Carpets, it what the little street chavs do and they get away with it scott free, so why can't anyone else In honesty though, good luck to the Kings fans on getting your plaque, a small token which will obviously mean a lot to so many, some people make no sense in not allowing something like this.
  19. That is generally due to fans not wanting to travel across Europe or even half way across the World for a one off meeting which their team may not be in and who wants to watch a meeting with teams that they don't support, especially at higher prices than a usual league meeting. If this was to be a big tournament then fans would have a guarentee of group matches etc that they could travel and watch plus more if their team is succesful, most if not all speedway nations have at least 7/8 riders, whether they are household names in Britain is irrelevant, if they aren't up to World standard then they won't qualify
  20. Yes they can... Football's World Cup is a HUGE spectacle, Speedway's unfortunately is not in comparison, moving from country to country meeting to meeting is not coherent and a pointless excercise, the meetings are pretty hypocritical, racing for your country but not taking to the track with another countryman in the whole tournament as the races are all individual affairs, maybe run a world cup every other year, with the off year being used for qualifiers, then make the world cup a week/fortnight long (as long as it is at the moment) spectacle in one nation comprising of test matches. qualification would also be staged as test matches and nations such as Romania, Austria, New Zealand could get a look in for once...
  21. Presumably, if there is footage of the crash, there must be more from the meeting floating around, the 6 second clip is over in a flash and it is hard to draw any conclusions from it, if Bishop is right and it was a first bend incident, then it would be interesting to see this and work out from that if his views were correct.
  22. Even in the 50's how can you let that happen Raniszewski seems to just disappear on impact and having watched the video in slow motion, I may be wrong but it looks like a large amount of blood on the wall behind which wasn't there before the crash... absolutely horrible.
  23. Sorry, there is no other answer here than the simple one. Rico was droped from the Peterboroguh squad, it gave him a kick up the backside, he gets his chance back in the side last night and gets 17 point because he knows he has to do well and is not irreplaceable. Think Button this year in F1 or Becks in the England football team. The bloke has the talent that is certain, he just has to apply himself a bit more and he could still do a lot in this sport.
