  1. Yeah, I just couldn't remember exactly when Peter came on board...
  2. Are you sure you weren't just watching Arthur Nutley eating in the chippy???
  3. If you don't get any answers, it's usually because nobody has an answer! He's certainly not someone I've ever heard of...
  4. Maido took over in 1972. I can't remember exactly when he left, but it may have been when we went NL. I know he was still there in 1984.
  5. You really didn't miss much in the way of Norwegians, but here were a couple who failed to make any impact. Jorn Haugvalstad rode four meetings for Halifax in 1980 - without scoring a point. Trond Skretting did a little better, averaging 3 1/2 points a meeting for Wolves in 1979, and having a few outings for Halifax in 1981.
  6. That is EXACTLY what I keep telling him.
  7. Says the man who is asking about pre-war action in France on a thread about Ted Spittles...
  8. It's not that you post links. It's that you CONSTANTLY post links without saying anything - and the links you post are usually just for self-promotion. I've told you MANY times - TALK to people.
  9. And dear old Ken Chaplin was a member of the track staff, along with sons Brian and Derek. Ken also used to run the tea bar under the stand at Wimbledon FC, along with wife Margaret.

    Ted Spittles

Just a reminder, John, this is a thread about Ted Spittles.
  11. No Bob. It just seems that posting about miscellaneous riders is the thing to do on here at the moment. I didn't want to feel left out...
  12. Just wanted to jump in before anyone else did! I thought he was a very underrated rider, hampered by injury. He impressed me at Plough Lane.
  13. Okay, there are a few I can't find birthdates for, most notably a bunch of Russians, plus Gunnar Malmqvist, and Hans-Jurgen Fritz. Plus, does anyone know if Arne Carlsson is still with us (he was born in 1939)? I edited my post above to include a couple of pre-1941 births I had omitted (Larsson, Enecrona, and Wyglenda). Here are the remaining births from the 1940's: Bengt Jansson - 09/01/1943 Anders Michanek - 30/05/1943 Trevor Hedge - 30/08/1943 Terry Betts - 15/09/1943 Howard Cole 29/12/1943 Martin Ashby - 05/02/1944 Jan Simensen - 26/07/1944 Zygfryd Friedek - 19/10/1944 Jerzy Trzeszkowski - 10/01/1945 Eric Boocock - 02/02/1945 Tony Lomas - 10/05/1945 John Boulger - 18/06/1945 Hasse Holmqvist - 18/06/1945 Jim McMillan - 03/12/1945 Soren Karlsson - 23/10/1946 Ole Olsen - 16/11/1946 Ray Wilson - 12/03/1947 Doug Wyer - 16/08/1947 Egon Muller - 26/11/1948 Christoph Betzl - 13/02/1949 Jiri Stancl - 18/11/1949 Viktor Kuznetsov - 27/11/1949
  14. Nah, Andy Buck had him beat...
  15. No. Brian Collins the former webmaster.
  16. I can vouch for that; he posts frequently on FB.
  17. I know what you mean. Brian and I used to message each other, but the last I heard from him was 2005. I never met him, but he seemed a really good guy.
  18. You know, it scared me when I realised that we're already getting down to riders like Jim Airey and John Louis...
  19. Okay, looks like I need to apologise; it appears that Doug is no longer with us, although I can't find anything official.
  20. Here are the next few... Aage Hansen - 13/04/1935 Gote Nordin - 02/07/1935 Bob Andrews - 27/10/1935 Reg Luckhurst - 11/11/1935 Doug Davies - 06/08/1936 Sverre Harrfeldt - 23/11/1937 Leif Larsson - 16/02/1938 Rick France - 12/07/1938 Leif Enecrona - 05/03/1940 Andrzej Wyglenda 04/05/1941 John Louis - 14/06/1941 Jim Airey - 19/08/1941
  21. The only thing I could find was when he scored 9 paid 10 against Exeter...
  22. Andersson - Jan, Bjorn, Bengt, Stefan, Ake, Dennis, Joel, Eric, Daniel, Marcus, Jonas... Andersen - Jan, Frank, Brian, Kasper, Hans, Morten, Anders...
  23. Oops! Should have remembered Roger!
