  15. Check out Google M8 (;o) http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/motoring/...6MOT17FAYE.html went to England, and started to race, but on motorcycles. During the 1920s, she took up motorcyle trials and grass tracking and became a major attraction. Then she changed track, going for speedway racing, which was more spectacular and paid better. She was already travelling the world, becoming a familiar speedway competitor and a big attraction for the crowds in both England and Australia. Eventually, she switched over to car racing. Her first racing appearance at the Brooklands circuit in England was in the autumn of 1931, when she took part in a womens' handicap, driving a Talbot 105 and lapping at 107.80 mph. In a similar race at Brooklands in the autumn of the following year, she came second, lapping at 113.97 mph. Regards.

  19. You Scrapped the bowels of my memory.... all the way over here in AUS! LoL! At Liverpool speedway, I was handicapped 30m, on my left was Nigel Boocock, and very close indeed on my right, Ole Olsen. Due to the amount of camber, when I dropped my clutch at the start and the back wheel dug itself in, my footrest had dug itself into the track, the bike turned right and me & Ole ended up on the floor in a heap. I was so red faced and embarrassed, Nigel in the mean time had done a U turn and rode back up and said "Nice one our kid, can you do it in the re-run". What a way to get initiated into the big time of speedway. Big Arthur not only brought me a beer for that Story. If my memory serves me right, I fought my way through 1 1/2 pints that night I could never keep up with him on the track or off it! I did one night at Castleford. ....... I think it was too small for him.
