  1. Slightly off topic, but hey, so is Poole slightly off topic so what the heck. Has anyone bought the "Memories of Swindon Speedway" DVD? An advert for it came up on my Facebook page. Is it worth getting?
  2. When were we told that? I don't think we were.
  3. Actually, for me, I think they should have gone even more top heavy once getting Doyle in. Give us a really solid top 2, with a back up that could have chipped in. We were always going to struggle lower down the team, but at least we are keeping one of the top riders in the World riding in Britain. I agree with Doyle not being unbeatable. He's good for 13 a meeting I reckon. That's a 10.40. It can also include a 5-1 against him! I think Rosco is going for riders he likes and to hell with their averages. Hopefully it will work out.
  4. If Nick is going to be on a 2015 PL average then, presumably, he would need to sign for a second division club first before doubling up with Swindon. Could this be why he hasn't been announced in the side yet? I expect that rule to have been scrapped now, anyway, with the averages being as they are now. Will be interesting to see if anything pans out though.
  5. So basically you could have the Swindon side in the top league, replace Jason Doyle with a 3 pointer, and otherwise have exactly the same team in the lower league. Maybe we should have a side in both leagues and double up with ourselves.
  6. Only is the third decimal place is 5 or above surely? Otherwise it would be mathematically incorrect. In my book Harris is 9.21, but you never know.
  7. The team doesn't look too strong from 2 downwards and a lot of emphass is on Jason Doyle this year. One thing I do hope is that he steps up the team riding as I've seen him several times give up on it. If Jason team rides I'm sure he has the ability to keep a lot of the riders in this league behind him and give us some 5-1s. Also it will help keep his average down too - clearly something that needs to be done after what's happened this year. I don't know much about Bellego, although I remember him having a good guest booking for us a while back. A lot of people at that time thought he was someone we should sign so worth having - but it's those averages again.
  8. No it isn't. We don't start until June and will be over by the end of August.
  9. Bellago in on 7.63. This really is Premier League now isn't it!
  10. Please go away. Please. Pretty please.
  11. Not so convinced by the signing of Watt - although he should be capable enough at this level. Does this rule out Eddie Kennett?
  12. The year before last Nick looked so good, but he wet downhill this year. If Nick can regain form then he'd be a good second heatleader but it is a risk. Adam Ellis as third heatleader has alarm bells ringing for me, but I don't know enough to form an informed opinion. Last year at Swindon he scored 1 from 3 riding in Poole's top 5. And his 1 point was because someone was excluded.
  13. If you read Speedway Star it says averages between 2 and 3 stay as they are. Averages below 2 stay at 2.00.
  14. Great stuff from Rye House. I'm jealous! Was hoping Bomber would be at Swindon until signing Ellis ruled him out.
  15. He probably wants to ride for Swindon and has been told it might be difficult to fit him in.
  16. Admittedly you lose that possibility, but you have to weigh up the risk with others and averages will fall. It's inevitable in a 50 point league. Having Doyle may well work against Swindon in terms of team strength overall, but personally I'm relieved he is staying. I wish Poole had hung on to Holder too. I understand why they never but I hope he stays in the league. We need to keep these riders if we can. Hopefully, long term, Swindon will benefit from this in Doyle getting a real average for next year (2018). I won't hold my breath though.
  17. It says a lot about next year when the probable Poole team is seen as strong. I think Swindon may struggle with Ellis on nearly 8. We are even seeing Nielsen as a possible top 5 rider. This is, effectively, Premier League. I just hope having Jason in the side helps to keep crowd levels up although he doesnt yet have the longevity at the club that Leigh had.
  18. As an example, you had Tungate in your probable team. Tungate averaged 6.05 in the top league last year. He rides next year on an average of 9.03. Yet 6.05 x 1.4 is 8.47. On paper, Tungate on 9.03 is a worse signing than Doyle.
  19. I think you missed my point. What I meant was that, in theory, everybody is going to drop their averages. Everyone is focusing on Doyle because he is over 12 but is no more highly assessed than anybody else who only rode EL last year. With a points limit of 50 the averages are all going to drop barring massive improvers. My comment about having an average of 42 was sarcasm - aka the lowest form of wit.
  20. In that case it is absolutely pointless putting a team together up to the 50 limit as it is only going to drop that average. Much better to put a team together with an average of 42.
  21. Good to see this from Rye House. It shows intent to sign him now rather than just hanging around to see what's left.
  22. I assume that post had a lot of likes because people misguidedly believed you were showing concern for Ricky Ashworth. Personally I feel you cynically use Ricky's situation to have a dig at Darcy Ward. Your posts are an insult to both riders. That is why I feel it is time you stopped.
  23. Maybe you should give your little crusade a rest now before you become totally offensive. I think everyone's had enough.
