I see the usual suspects are trolling on here about the track.

Given the expectation of a one sided affair it turned out to be a decent meeting, was a decent crowd in too, I wonder if bsn covered the second half, I didn't stay for that.

Plenty of grip out there and Oxford (Janowski apart) gave a decent effort. Lawson always puts up a good fight and his race with Ellis was good to watch (note there was no pass but there doesn't have to be for a good race). I was impressed with Killeens win. McDiarmid improved each race and his battle with Killeen was a little hairy but he didn't back off - I was hoping for him to get the point. Kildemand was unlucky to fall with Brennan, the gap was  there. Ellis looked much better for Ipswich and Thompson is back on form at the right time.

“It wasn’t our best performance of the year, far from it, and it felt a bit of a slog at times, but we were experimenting with track conditions and overall, it didn’t work. We were battling with that and Oxford came and fought hard, and they will be happy with the two young lads, Luke and Mitch, I thought they put in really creditable performances and that is pleasing for them. It was one of those nights where we had to battle but we got another three points on the board, and we move on and come back for a tougher test next week.

“We have had a few different conditions at Ipswich, and we are just trying to find out what is best for everyone and what everyone is happy with. It is a good time to do it but overall, it wasn’t brilliant and didn’t provide great racing and that is one thing we want to do. We will learn from it and have another crack at it next week and see if we can get the balance to get everything correct.

    Fair assessment from Hawkins there.

I’d tend to agree. I think at foxhall Ellis is far stronger than his poor away outings. He tends to throw it on the outside at Foxhall more than anywhere else if he is behind.

Absolutely does and it really suits his style. The higher banking work done during the winter especially around bends 3 and 4, has become more and more evident as the season has gone on. Ellis has made up huge ground on those in front of him by taking that outside route.

Absorbing contest for once a great meeting on TV - well done both sides but heck Belle Vue needed more from the reserves and Blodorn! &nbsp

race of the night had to be Dan T showing Kurtz home! He’s had a tricky 2-3 weeks and that was a great win for him!

He has but in fairness the broken scaphoid derailed his season and he’s taken a little while to get back up to speed which is understandable. He was second or third in our averages I think up to that point and riding superbly.

    Ipswich completely croak. Complete capitulation.

Belle Vue fans just politely clap. Don’t even get out of their seats.

All a bit irrelevant against Belle Vue really. The name of the game here was just to make a decent fist of it because the aggregate bonus would be bagged at Foxhall.

In the plays offs if the two clubs meet at any stage, I’m confident of beating Belle Vue over two legs if we stay injury free. Leicester still the bigger danger currently but have they peaked a bit early?

You are right, there isn't anything in it at all.The difference that sets these tracks apart are that you will see many races like it at Belle Vue as opposed to an odd few at many other tracks. So the reason imo that Belle Vue is better is because you are seeing many more good races.

The majority of those passes though you can spot coming a mile off so I understand the point some are making.

    Should be 60+ to Ipswich.

Might be, but doubtful at the moment. As Hawkins says in the preview above, since the injury wobble we haven’t got close to getting back to our early season form yet when we were blitzing everyone out of sight at Foxhall. Hopefully that comes back by play off time!

I don't think anybody is happy about it, but if you only have 5 teams that are willing to pay out for the privilege what is the answer? Run a 5 team league? Surely you can see that's not credible.

Ok, let’s get rid of the quality we do have, and let everybody have mediocre teams and equally sh!t attendances for the sake of equality and “credibility”. Terrific strategy. Ban the GP stars, problems solved!

It is time for one league. One of the reasons why I've only been to my club Leicester once this season is down to the lack of variety, it's the same riders every other week. There is zero incentive for me to watch Ipswich one week when I know in a few weeks time we could be facing them in the KO cup or the play offs.

People will say there isn't enough riders and that's it, but is that my problem to fix? No it isn't. I don't go to watch speedway for GP stars, I go for the speedway. I love watching Fricke every week at Leicester, but I also loved watched the Thompson twins come through the ranks taking on the senior pros. That was just as exciting for me as watching a GP star. Let's be honest we only have a few GP stars anyways? Were missing Lambert, Bartosz, Laguta, Lingren etc. We only have the riders that are allowed here by there polish clubs lets be honest. They just come here for fun some would say. Let's not forget how expensive they are as well. Costing thousands every week!

We can manage one big league, how? Maybe look at what some of championship clubs have done this season, some brand new riders to the league and promoting the youth from the NDL. It would lower the standard but I don't care, let's back the kids and give them plenty of riders and pay them a reasonable wage so riders like Sonny Springer can get back into speedway.

And yet the biggest cheer of the season apparently was when your GP star Fricke came from 15 metres to win on the line in spectacular fashion. I’m sorry but you ain’t getting that kind of star quality from the Thompson’s or even Ryan Douglas.

How people are happy to see these riders depart is beyond me.

If he had turned earlier surely all that is happening is that Kerr is wiping him out! Could Kerr have pulled out of that move he had committed to?

Yes is the simple answer. Dan left enough room for a double decker bus and Kerr went through it. There were several people up in the box and every single one of us knew that it was over as soon as Dan hit the deck and that he was getting excluded. There really is no argument to be had here.

The only slight doubt was that the referee might be a “Homer” and wrongfully exclude Kerr.

He left such a gap - I think he should have turned earlier, and Kerr wouldn’t have had the opportunity.  As we saw from several riders, the wider area provided nothing by way of grip - it was only if they stuck their back wheel on the inner edge of the dirt line. Maybe Thompson was aiming for that, Kerr simply dived under him and negotiated the bend quite easily.

Totally agree, and it was an error on Dan’s part. Such a shame because after a poor night, you could see the determination to do it for his team in that heat and he done fantastically well to overtake Kerr in the first instance.

Hawkins had no problem with HT 14. So it must of been ok.;)

“It was just hard racing in heat 14, I don’t think the referee did anything wrong. It is one of those things and I have no complaints.

Exactly as I saw it BB. For anyone with a good memory, it was almost identical to the incident at the NSS a few seasons ago when Doyle came steaming under Bewley and Bewley dropped it. On that occasion the ref got it wrong and excluded Doyley, this time the ref got it spot on IMO.

Witches were well below par tonight, but I’m sorry anyone who thinks Kerr’s move on Dan T was fair and square has got rose tinted glasses on, Dan passed him fair and square up the top turn and Kerr was probably still two bike lengths behind him going past the start finish and into the first turn bend 1

standing on the second bend exit myself and everyone around me were certain that there was contact including the kings Lynn fans beside us, as the rider in front Dan could’ve easily ridden across to the inside going into turn 1 lap 4 but knowing Kerr was coming steaming under him from miles back some self preservation ensued and he rode a little wider and was still sent tumbling.

as the rider in front is entitled to ride where they want should he of chopped Kerr off and stood it up in front of him and made sure they both definitely crashed?

it’s a shame for it to end on a crash and questionable as it was a closely fought tie between rival teams, and despite being below par tonight on their home track the witches still had a chance of winning the tie on aggregate having moved into a 5-1 in heat 14

It’s YOU who has the rose tinted glasses on Buttons. Not only was there no contact, it wasn’t even close! I probably had the best view in the house for this incident. Up in the VIP box between first and second bend thanks to Arch. Fact is, Dan passed Kerr up the inside going up the back straight. That then took him wide around bends three and four. Kerr then came steaming down the inside of Dan down the home straight, Dan saw him coming through, panicked and laid it down. I hope this heat gets replayed via rerun so everyone can see. If I’ve got it wrong, I’ll hold my hands up. Pretty sure I haven’t though.
