im sure if you rang bruce at home he would be more than happy to donate some items,he was a great bloke on the track and hes even better of it. bruce was most helpfull to me with my project this year,so i can tell you it wouldnt much trouble to him at all.im sure somebody connected with themuseum could contact him.what about a section donated in the museum to the janks, lets face it they changed the face of speedway for the better.

get a wessie mate, made in the uk,a great engine and will fit your 25 year rule.
-
1983 was the first year the engine was used,im sure dave jessup had a few rides on it but wasnt that sure about it,otto fine tuned the bugger for egon and the rest is history.im sure it was 1983,im no expert but it will depend what type of gm it is eg model type.theres been more models of gm motors than the queens had chip butties

nice one bob,i was only sending you a little wined up. tony mac is a nice fellow who writes a good read, but im sure theres been a few things left out he would have loved to have said. if you read between the lines im sure we would all agree that we all get the idea of what sort of guy kenny was ,and the life he lived. i can remember being in the pits at smallmead getting ready for a second half ride and kenny was riding for halifax as a 16 year old,pam was there along with every other tom dick and harry.you new he was going to be good,he new he was going to good and he didnt give much about anybody or anything that night other than racing.but as my dad has also told me nothing is what it seems,he was one mixed up fellow, reading the book you can understand why. brave i dont think so,a little bit crazy might be closer to the mark, but shooting pam in the back well i think that sums him up.

hello colin thanks for that,my first idea was perhaps the cases were new but the decompression plug dates the cases early.i have been told but im not sure weather this is correct but even new cases had engine numbers stamped on them.i have engines (japs) dating from 1938 thru to 1964 there have been a few little changes to webs and fins etc on the cases, these cases on this engine seem to be dated late 30s till late 40s.i just cant find a letter, number etc on the outside of the engine or on the inside,im stumpped

we all complain theres not enough speedway books to read, why doesnt somebody write a few books so we can enjoy reading them in the off season.well tony mac has and done a great job.grow up bob and the others who complain about this and that,if your not happy with the book try writing one your self.15 quid is a cheap read try getting that value for money with any other book.i only hope bob when you left the uk you didnt end up in australia,we dont need that type of negative thinking out in the land of oz.WELL DONE TONY A GREAT READ ABOUT ONE OF ENGLANDS BEST EVER RIDERS. I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT GOOD READ.

whilst in the uk this year i purchased a 5 stud jap engine in a erskine frame, the idea was to restore this bike once it arrived back in australia.the bike arrived last week after a short boat trip from england.the first thing i wanted to see was the engine number, well i have been over the engine with a fine tooth combe and cannot find a number.can anybody offer a reason why this engine wouldnt have an engine number.i have aged the motor between the mid 1930s to around 1948.but would love to pin point the engines year of manufacture.on the pushrod side of the engine on the timing case there is a decompression outlet which has been pluged, you would think that might put the engine in the late 30s not late 40s.can anybody offer some help please.there are no numbers, stamps or letters anywhere on this engine.

thats what little champions do,great rider and a top fellow

oh thats a shame, debbie asked me to keep in touch reference my race jacket i loaned to the museum.i loaned the race jacket along with my weslake which in turn has been donated to the speedway riders benefit fund. i was asked by her to write something explaining the bike etc for the museum, but as of today i havent got around to it. i was just trying to keep in touch and make sure the race jacket is in good safe hands.i was a real treat to visit the museum in july this year and i only hope in keeps growing. my email address is.....morstonemanor@hotmail.com thanks

could anybody please give me the email or phone number of debbie at the museum.i need to talk to her,its not life or death but soon would be handy

your all correct, but in my eyes anders was the best ever swede and a good bloke to boot. talk about turning the clock back i can still remember standing on the forth bend at tilehurst watching the great man,i was only a little nipper but it was watching anders that got me thinking about riding a bike one day. what a team to anders rode with,im sure it went like this but dont hold me to it 1.anders 2.bernie the bolt 3dag lovaas 4.dickie may 5.skippy curtis (one of the best ever ozzies i have ever seen and meet)R.I.P. 6.mike bell 7.mudgie im not sure weather they all rode that year 1973 0r 1972 how the years pass because i can also remember watching a couple of wild lads to like josef angermuller, and jack millan. one thing i can say with 100% is that in those days you followed a team, for good or bad,you would drive up and down the uk to watch your team and when you turned up all your team was present and ready to ride, whats happening in speedway today is just bulldust, guest riders ,stand ins, riders coming and going, with out the english league those top fellows would be worth nothing perhaps they should treat the english league a lot better.and there would be far more bums on seats.thats 100% for sure

thanks track man im sure we have meet im i correct

a book on the life of olle nygren would be story worth telling. i was lucky enough to catch up for a cup of tea with olle last year whilst picking up a two valve jawa from him in felixstowe.olles a gentleman,he gave his time and loved doing it.what olle hasnt done in motor sport isnt worth doing.how many men his age still ride enduro for a works team, how many men his age could still have a blast around a speedway track(not many) i went thru a load of old speedway stars dating back to the early 60s,olle hasnt changed one bit,hes always smiling go on tmc write a book about good old olle im sure it would sell plenty
-
read between the lines mate, you dont need to be a A1 sudent to work it out buy the book, dont be a tight arse.its well worth the read. the book tells it as it was,no bulls@@t,we dont need to know the full 100%. as bruce said er well you will just have to purchase the book.
-
hello tmc how about a book about the great anders michanek.the best swede ever.there would be plenty to write about.perhaps combine the book with the best janks ever bruce ,bobby, dennis, shaun, kelly and rick.and for good luck throw in a few good australians billy, gary, philp and jason.theres your next best seller. p.s......loved the kenny carter book well done .
