Less than 3 months to go til the first round, and only 6 out of the 16 riders signed up and 2 out of the 6 tracks committed, and the 2 which are mentioned are not renown for their great quality of racing. And now the SCB have issued stern warnings to all concerned resulting that at a minimum, it can't be called "speedway" either. 'scuse me for not being inspired.

New Polish Extraleague Tv Contract Signed
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Anyone who has concerns about seeing Polish speedway in the UK may want to invest in satellite TV equipment that can pull in the transmissions off the "Hotbird" satellite. There's plenty of web sites that can help, and plenty of installers who can get you set up. You can even go for a motorised satellite dish, that you can use for Sky UK AND the "Hotbird" satellite (as well as many others). Decoders aren't a problem to get hold of, and if you look at some of the satellite TV forums, and do a search on "card sharing" you can get very economical deals on your access to encrypted services., no less legally than the streamed services that you have all been used to. -

Sincerest condolences to Matija's family and friends. Another sad loss.

League Sponsorship - How Much?
uk_martin replied to StormMarketing's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I suppose that the amount that a sponsorship deal is worth will be a factor of the value that the sponsor gets out of their investment, and that is a factor of the size of the potential market that they are exposed to, and the likelyhood of a positive response from the market to the sponsor. A marketeer researchin into and engaging with "the market" is a very normal thing to do, to get a feel for "the market" that a potential sponsor will be exposed to. Sadly, judging by the responses above, doing this in a BSF forum does not seem the best place to get a good impression of the kind of people that a sponsor will be hoping to sell to as a result of their investment in the sport. You'd forgive a company for backing away from sponsoring British Speedway, not because of the way in which the sport is run, but because of the flavour of the people that follow it. I feel sorry for you, StormMarketing, you made a valient attempt at opening up a valid discussion, but I think you're asking the wrong people. -
New Polish Extraleague Tv Contract Signed
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Any word if TVP might get Liga 1, in the same way as lower league football goes to stations other than Sky over here? Well, this looks interesting and holds out the hope of a sensible answer to the question of "how many subscriptions" - http://www.digitaltveurope.net/28273/polish-regulator-approves-merger-of-%E2%80%98n%E2%80%99-and-cyfra-plus/ On the other hand, this link suggests that there is still a bit to get sorted out. http://www.canalpluscyfrowy.pl/en/brands -
OK, so let's call a spade, "a spade". It's the European Championships of Eastern Europe! Or just the East European Championships... What chance that we are going to see this sport heading the way of Boxing? Boxing has the WBA, WBC, BWO, IBF etc etc Or Wrestling with the WWE and WCW?...Speedway has BSI (of SGP fame) and now One Sport...I wonder how long before riders have to sign "exclusivity deals" with one or the other?

Sounds like Telford Revisited. If it was on the doorstep then I might consider it, but add the admission to the price that DB would charge for the rail fare, and it's out of the question. Not good value for money for what it is.
-
Now there's a good idea! Not been to their new stadium, in fact not seen Bayern since a certain year when Man Utd drew 2-2 at the Olympic Stadium during Oktoberfest, on their way to an event that led to the following shirt getting created!

Polish Liga1 & Liga 2 Fixtures For 2013
uk_martin replied to uk_martin's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks, Lublin entries have been corrected. There seem to be plenty of reserved dates for catching up on rain-off's so who knows? How would we get to hear about Polish Youth League etc over here? Basically, I'll be going to the Polish SWC round at Czestochowa, and then hanging around as a Mk1 tourist in the Katowice / South Poland area until the Wednesday when I get the train to Prague for the rest of the SWC. I'd like to get to another meeting of some description whilst in the area if possible. -
Polish Liga1 & Liga 2 Fixtures For 2013

Translated into English and now moved up to the opening post on this thread, where the fixtures are probably better located. Thanks to R&R for the original links. -
Polish Liga1 & Liga 2 Fixtures For 2013
uk_martin replied to uk_martin's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks for that R&R So, nothing planned for 14th July, which for the Extraliga, was expected (SWC week) but I was kind of hoping that the lower leagues might have done something that day. Do Polish Clubs ever pad-out their fixture list with challenge/individual/pairs/etc meetings, on "spare" dates? -
ha ha, I've seen that 3Sat programme too. I sometimes wonder if it was made by the same people that used to put a camera in a train drivers cabin and filmed train journeys through Germany? Not sure that they still show that now though. I know that the log fire still seems to be burning the same logs that it was using some years ago though lol

Polish Extraleague 2013 Confirmed Signings
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Interesting approach by ZG. They're relying three guys winning all the races and Dudek being the trump card at reserve. They'll be stuffed like Gorzow were last year, if their key reserve picks up a serious injury. Also, I take it that the Poles don't have "minimum" averages, in that Jonas Davidsson has a sub-3 average in that team? -
Good job that's not the one that I'm going to then, I'd be miffed if St Johann is called off for the second year running. Cheap flights to Munich they may be, but I don't want to be stuck there all weekend again like I was last year. I know the place inside out. I want to see somewhere new lol. Anyway, it's still a long time to go, so let's hope for more cold weather.
-
An Austrian friend of mine posted photos of the snow in Vienna just before Xmas on Facebook. http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/536:11?month=1 St Johann's WARMEST temperature in the first week will be MINUS 1 degree on New Year's Day, with colder to come.

Polish Tv Coverage In 2013
uk_martin replied to uk_martin's topic in International World of Speedway
Very interesting...so it looks like TVP are out of the equation. I wonder if they are calling it quits with the sport or if they might do what ITV did when there was no Premier League football on offer, and show lower league ( Liga 1) action instead? Pure speculation but it would be good. Polish speedway on Canal+ in HD would be awesome. What puzzles me though is the complexity of what was said. Canal+ Sport is part of the Canal+ empire, syndicated around Poland by Cyfra+, which just like Sky in the UK syndicates all the other channels mentioned too. - http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/cyfra.html Still it looks like C+ holds the aces over Polsat. Polsat doesn't yet have a dedicated sports channel, let alone one in HD, which seems to be the aim of the PZM to secure. If it heads C+'s way I won't mind in the slightest, as I receive that channel on satellite, and not only is their coverage excellent, but their lady presenter is gawgeous! lol -
Have TVP been awarded the rights to cover the Polish Extraliga again next year? Also will Canal+ Sports continue with coverage of the SGP/SWC meetings? I heard that there was competition from other Polish TV networks. Any news on what the latest situation is please? Also, will the successful broadcaster be transmitting on a HD channel next year, or will it be standard definition only?
-
Easier maybe, but far less affordable. I got return tickets from Birmingham (where I live) to/from Munich for just about €60 (Monarch Airlines). I'll be able to hire a car for €30-€40 but was just wondering what other options there were.

World Long Track 2013 Round At Rzeszow
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Difficult to plan ahead with these things too. Earlier this year, when I booked the flights to Hannover to go to the Vechta round, all was well and good...some months later and the dates had been switched, and that weekend it was the French round, with Vechta being the week after. You can't really ask an airline to postpone your tickets as well, can you? I'll be leaving this year's decision making until a lot closer to the dates. -
Polish Liga1 & Liga 2 Fixtures For 2013
uk_martin replied to uk_martin's topic in International World of Speedway
Can't wait to hear some news. I'll be going to Czestachova for SWC Round 1 and hanging around in South Poland for a few days til going to Prague for the SWC play-offs and final. It would be good if there was a fixture on the Sunday after the SWC to go to (Wanda Krakow maybe?) -

Polish Extraleague 2013 Confirmed Signings
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
I think that Ward and Miedzinski might feel that having half a job is better than no job at all. They are in a better place than Crump or Hancock are. I guess we shall see how things pan out. You may be right, but I thought that the way that the team was lined up on the Torun web site was as significant as it was different to how Gorzow's team was listed out. BTW, you missed Luke Przedpełski out of the Torun line-up -

Interesting the way in which this page reads. Looks more like the adaptation of Job Sharing. Seems like Ward and Miedzinski will be job-sharing as will the Pulczyński brothers. Gollob, Ward and Sullivan look set to be in all of the meetings. -
Polish Extraleague 2013 Confirmed Signings
uk_martin replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
For any other meeting I'd say that's OK, BUT we're talking about the Polish equivelent of the "Old Firm" derby here...I'm not travelling all that way and taking a chance on tickets. That said, Stal Gorzow have now announced quite a weak looking team, so maybe it won't be quite as attractive as in past years: Stal Gorzów - 2013: Niels Kristian Iversen 9.58 Daniel Nermark 8.00 Krzysztof Kasprzak 7.14 Tomasz Gapiński 6.06 Linus Sundstroem 5.66 Łukasz Jankowski 2.50 Adrian Gomólski 2.50 Bartosz Zmarzlik 6.57 Łukasz Cyran 2.50 Adrian Cyfer 2.50 Source - here
