British Speedway to be reborn?cityrebel replied to Theboss's topic in Speedway News and Discussions The age of the average speedway fan will have an effect, plus financial hardship will impact upon a lot of people.

British Speedway to be reborn?cityrebel replied to Theboss's topic in Speedway News and Discussions I'll take whatever's on offer, but i fear i might be in the minority.

Future Format for British Speedwaycityrebel replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League Maybe the Swedish system is the way to go. Less could end up more. Fewer high quality meetings might entice a few fans back. Give people something to look forward to, instead of rolling out the same tired product on a regular basis.

Future Format for British Speedwaycityrebel replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League Speedway is very much a social thing for me. It's a totally different experience when i go to football, where the result means everything. I am missing a night out at my local tracks, for a chat with my mates and a couple of decent races, if I'm lucky.

Will the premiership start on time?cityrebel replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League I'd be content with the odd amateur meeting. I have three training tracks that are relatively close to where i live.

It stalled all our progress, for some permanently.

From memory Steve, it was a nice sunny sunday afternoon!

I went to the three finals run at White City, and the ones staged at Wimbledon. I think it died a death in the early 1980's.

For those of us with London speedway running through our veins, the site continues to be a great source of information.

Future Format for British Speedwaycityrebel replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League A lot of people will be skint as well. Sport will be way down on their list of priorities.

West Ham were very different. From 1967 to 1971 they had West Ham, London on their jackets, which made them really stand out. It really hooked me as a kid, and I'm fortunate to own two originals.

Future Format for British Speedwaycityrebel replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League The demise of Rye House was probably a good template on all that is wrong with British speedway. Will lessons be learned, let's hope so.

There you go. I've been to a few more last evers, including Reading, lakeside and Rye House. I must be a jinx!

The last ever at Crayford was on a wednesday night, which was unusual. The supernational final against Newcastle. The programme notes had no mention of any potential closure.

Yep went to both, also went to the last ever speedway meetings at West Ham, Wembley, White City, Crayford and Hackney.

My daughter came home on Wednesday showing symptoms. Because we are all key workers we booked a test straight away. We took the test on Thursday with minimal delays. The results came through in approximately 3 days. Thankfully the three of us were negative. A big thank you to the staff manning these sites and how efficiently they go about their business.

I've got them complete in binders from 1970 to 1986 and loose from 1987 to 1994, the year i stopped buying the star. I probably should have got rid of them years ago, but i needed some statistics so i kept them. Now thanks to some excellent websites like speedway researcher and international speedway, the time has come.

	Does anyone!

Could the season be extended.cityrebel replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions I think it was to do with insurance.

Everyone is different Steve, when it comes to putting things into words. Variety is the spice of life.
-
If the present season does get going, could it be extended into November if needed. I know it's a rarity these days, but in the 1970's and 80's November meetings were quite common.

Absolutely. I had real flu one christmas. I was bed ridden for several days. When i did start to recover i had to retrain my legs on how to walk.
