  1. Can anyone find this "you cannot replace a rider with an assessed average" published by the BSPA/SCB ? If it does exist, does this apply to all assessed average bands, i.e. 3.00, 5.00, 7.00 ?
  2. All the indications are that Glasgow should win this by more than 8. Not to be accused of reverse psychology in my prediction, suggest the following factors are relevant:-. Glasgow have put together a side that was the Speedway Star pundits choice to win the PL, and so far, they are living up to that.Monarchs have only raced twice at home since the start of the Season and have not had a decent opportunity to get dialled in.The gamble of signing newcomer Jye Etheridge on 5,00 has not been an instant success, and it remains to be seen if he will match the progress of the likes of Somerset's new Aussie, Jake Allen.Dan Bewley is a raw talent who hopefully will translate his potential into points, but it's too early to expect decent scores at the moment.Next to Ricky Wells, Aaron Summers is generally the best visitor to the Dale and Richie Worrall has also matched the homesters top men on previous visits.
  3. Restaging date on BSPA fixture list as 6th May. :- http://www.speedwaygb.co/may16 No scheduled EL fixtures listed also, so unless some other commitments, expect both sides to be at full strength.
  4. No such problem this Saturday if Jorgensen is still unavailable, as Monarchs will be at Worky. Berwick can get a guest up to 8.19 for the home fixture, such as Steve Worrall, Ostergaard, Kus, etc.
  5. So if a rider deliberately does not score, who do you think will compensate him for loss of earnings?
  6. Possibly ask Redcar to come on 6/5 with the Possilpark Buckfast Puddle Drinkers swaggering up on 29/4.
  7. Big bonus tonight for me was that given the crap weather, we got a full meeting with some decent races despite the soggy conditions. Both sides played their part in entertaining everyone and Berwick were deserved winners at the end. We've had a good run since 2003 and no team or it's supporters, has a god given right to always be at, or near the top. I've been there, along with many other Monarchs fans when we've ended bottom of the pile, and anyone who endured the Tom Cook era is well equipped to accept that situation when it's our turn Unlike some on here, I reckon Bewley is a raw talent who will develop rapidly at number seven, the more opportunities he gets Etheridge will find scoring points more difficult as he will remain at number two for the foreseeable future, but he has a decent style and expect him to start scoring some points at the Dale soon. Too early to predict after 2 matches how this season will go, but for me, I'll settle for watching good racing, win, lose, or draw.
  8. It was noticeable on Sunday that Tigers efforts to attract families with young kids is paying dividends. Serious question, do you think running on Sunday afternoons is more attractive to that particular audience, than changing to Friday nights?
  9. Wolbert had ridden in two individuals in Germany (Ludwigslust 19/3 (15) & Gustrow 26/3 (12)) btw. Overall, result was slightly better than I expected for us, mainly because of Smiler's magnificent performance. Would also give Kevin pass marks, particularly when driving past Lawson in ht 10. After a couple of tentative outings on his UK debut, Jye was on the pace in his last two races, so hopefully will progress further, once he becomes more familiar with the PL. Erik & Ryan were less competitive than I expected and Max did not appear too keen to mix it with the opposition when briefly in front of them. It might take Dan some time before he starts to score points but he is certainly worth persevering with long term. Tigers were well worth their 19 pt win, with Ayres looking a good and entertaining no.7. However I think it's a bit premature to bring the trumpets out yet on the basis of a single home league cup match where Tigers bottom three had an easy time outscoring their Monarchs counterparts 17 - 2. Given the loss of the best opening pairing in the 2015 PL, realistically a middle to lower table finish in the PL, should be our expectation as things stand. Finally plaudits to Glasgow on providing a decent racing strip, despite the heavy rain that had apparently fallen on Saturday and Sunday morning.
  10. Expect this to be a comfortable home win, given the impressive performance by the Tigers last Sunday, together with this being the first competitive outing for three of the Monarchs. Richard Lawson & Richie Worrall have already been been scoring well in the EL, so it would not be a surprise if they were unbeaten. For the Reigning Champions & League Cup Holders, this will be a severe test of their resources, particularly for Jye Etheridge making his UK debut, and for Dan Bewley making his first start at PL level. IMO this looks like a 25+ point win for the homesters. Finally wish for an injury free match for both sides.
  11. As far as I am aware, information of the current financial position of the Club is not in the public domain, and I was not the one who raised this issue However as someone has posted on here that Edinburgh have current financial problems, is it not reasonable to seek verification of the "facts" from the source?
  12. Point 1 - So if you are not referring to the Reigning Champions current financial position, don't be shy and tell us what you are implying in the first post? Point 2 - Bollocks! - rather than admit you have no details of Edinburgh's current (i.e. not historical ) financial status, you try to slither out by taking the Google excuse.
  13. So tell us all what the current financial position of the Reigning Champions is? What are the current balance sheet figures, and from what published source are you basing your statement on ?
  14. My tongue in cheek comment was based on the In brief article in this weeks Star. As "getting the bullet" is everyday slang for "dispensing with the service of", I'm sorry that this phrase so upset you. The article includes the phrases:- "rather than chasing everyone out straight away, they took time to establish the correct business model for themselves" "There was always going to be changes..." "Possibly the biggest casualty from the change is outgoing promoter Colin Hamilton"" From the above, does it not imply that the five ex directors did not take the initiative to step down voluntarily? If you are saying that in your case, you did submit your resignation beforehand, rather than be advised of this by the Club Owners, then I accept that my interpretation of the article was incorrect.
  15. See Page 21 this week's Speedway Star which quotes Gordon Pairman : "outgoing directors, Colin Hamilton, Ian Adam, Derek Smith, George Barclay and Cami Brown" That's five is it not? - suggest you take it up with Mr Pairman and point out the errors of his ways
  16. See there’s been a purge in the Tigers Den by Jack & Victor Sopranno, with five Directors getting the bullet, including snapper CSI (Possilpark) is investigating allegations that george.m will be the new Club Photographer also
  17. Best solution is scrap the TR rule completely from all competitions asap.
  18. Agree the presentation above is ambiguous. Re last Season, the TR was permitted in matches where the overall result was not decided upon the aggregate score, namely League & League Cup Mini-League matches. Probably intended the same for 2016, and imo the Scunny vs Sheffield interpretation was correct. The BSPA/SCB should however issue public clarification asap of what exactly the ruling on TRs is, to avoid further inconsistency.
  19. The BV announcement does not state when Bewley will be joining a PL side. It could be that an existing PL no. 7 at a non Friday track (e.g. Sheffield, Worky, Newcastle etc.) could be replaced by him after completion of the their 4 match stint
  20. Sure i read on here that PL no 7s were guaranteed a minimum of 4 home meetings from the start. If this 4 only applies to official fixtures, then that would be completed later than 29/4. Also no guarantee as to when Davey will be given UK Citizenship.
  21. Has signed a full contract with BV :- http://www.bellevuecolts.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1652 As it states "“It’s important to note that in addition to his National League commitments he will also be taking a Premier League No.7 berth, but this will not interfere with any fixtures pertaining to Belle Vue." and given Colts home matches are on Fridays, it would appear he is destined for a PL side with a home race night other than a Friday.
  22. I would guess Kevin Wolbert, Sam Masters, Ryan Fisher, Craig Cook, Derek Sneddon, The Pope, for starters.
  23. The non franked bulk mail received from commercial concerns, (banks, insurance companies, etc.) including Speedway Star, are not date stamped, instead has a 1st or 2nd class id, together with Postage Paid GB code (e.g. for Speedway Star, it's Kingston-U-T 584) on the envelope. When stamped/franked mail is sent, the date, time, & sending location do appear on the envelope, so it appears your copy is being processed by a different channel. If you had fully read my post, I never suggested earlier posting, but questioned why other commercial & personal 1st Class mail received from the London Area normally arrives the next day after posting, but not the Star. I would add that this problem affects several subscribers in the Edinburgh area who stay in different postal zones.
  24. Have already done so locally & would add most other 1st class franked mail from London Area is delivered next day. Perhaps you should follow this up at your handover point.
  25. Glad to hear folks got their bumper copy of the mag on schedule. Despite contacting SS Circulation Dept, postal subscribers in Edinburgh continue to wait longer than everyone else and it appears any day after Thursdays is the norm (i.e. Friday - Tuesday) No bloody good producing a great magazine if you cannot get it out to your customers on time BTW local newsagents seem to have no problems with Thursday deliveries.
