  1. She certainly was a good looking Lady - I agree. Anyone remember 'Gunslinger' with Tony Young or 'Branded' with Chuck Connors. Wish some Channel would run repeats of these all shows mentioned on here. 'Gunsmoke' and 'Wagon Train' with Ward Bond and Johnny Horton were classics.
  2. Audie Murphy. He certainly did have a distinguished Service career. Awards: He is authorized the Medal of Honor; Distinguished Service Cross; Silver Star with First Oak Leaf Cluster; Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device and First Oak Leaf Cluster; Purple Heart with Second Oak Leaf Cluster; Legion of Merit; Good Conduct Medal; Distinguished Unit Emblem with First Oak Leaf Cluster; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver service star, three bronze service stars and one bronze service arrowhead; World War II Victory Medal; Combat Infantry Badge; Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar; Expert Badge with Bayonet Bar; French Fourragere in Colors of the Croix de Guerre; French Legion of Honor, Grade of Chevalier; French Croix de Guerre with silver star, and the Belgian Croix de Guerre 1940 with Palm. 3. Was the Range Rider's sidekick not called Dick West??? Ahhhhhhhhh the 'Robin Hood of the old West - The Cisco Kid and Pancho - Happy Memories. Thanx for your tip Ron - I will be careful - VERY, VERY careful.
  4. And Rebel the Dog - I think.
  5. Cheers Sandie Sorry if I have put this in the wrong place everybody. Put it down to age. PS. I'm breathing.
  6. After reading the Thread on What's my Line it got my memory banks working. Takes a lot these days believe me. It made me wonder if anyone out there remembers the good old days on the Telly with 'Rawhide', 'Wagon Train' and the 'Cisco Kid' etc...................... I mourn their passing. OR - am I just SAD?
  7. You are right Ian - Original "gonger": Alec Dane. Original "announcer" - Bob Danvers Walker. Oi'll give you "FOIVE" for being right.
  8. My goodness 'Take your Pick' with Michael Miles - AND - Bob Danvers Walker with the 'Yes/No interlude with his gong.
  9. Pete Murray and Josephine Douglas - Ahhhhh yes - those WERE the days!! my friend. (Mary Hopkin)
  10. Anyone remember Hughie Green and Monica Rose in 'Double your Money'.
  11. YES - Norbold - you are right. Compulsive viewing - brought a tear to my eye thinking back to the somewhat - in my view - better days of Television. Thank you for that my friend.
  12. All Forums have Threads that go off Topic sometimes. I appreciate what you say - but - I am finding this Thread VERY informative, interesting AND also very entertaining. I know it has veered away from the original Title - but - for something that is this good - I am happy with the way it is going. I don't agree with everything that is said mind.
  13. Hope you'll get back to us norbold. I am following this Thread with much interest.
  14. Brian - that REALLY is a fantastic photograph. Vic was a super lad who did not deserve what fate handed out. I can still remember talking to him at a pre-Season get together. One of the main things I DO remember is that he ALWAYS had time to talk to Supporters. A lovely Lad sadly missed. R.I.P. + Vic
  15. VERY, VERY GOOD POST falkirkbandit. I think a lot of Supporters can relate to a lot of this also. Once Speedway gets in your blood - it is certainly there to stay. I have loved this Sport for over forty years. I know others who have loved it even longer. I will probably go to my grave loving it still. Thank you for sharing Howdy's comments with us falkirkbandit.
  16. As a Sunderland 'Saints' Supporter - I am NOT impressed with either Parker or Bridgett. Couple of Chancers as far as I am concerned. They closed Sunderland to strengthen Newcastle and Wolverhampton reasons given were lack of Support and bad weather. 8,500 penultimate Meeting (source: Sunderland Echo) AND we never had a 'rain off'. If they had wanted to close us - I think we should have been told the truth. Am I bitter??? DAMN RIGHT I AM!! They introduced me to Speedway - I caught the bug - and then they snatched it away from me after only EIGHT Meetings. It was to be seven years before Speedway returned to Sunderland under Allied Presentations. After we were sold by Allied Presentations we were kicked from one Promotor to another - crowds dropped and we eventually closed again due to lack of support (true this time). Not surprising though. We had been run in to the ground Myself and a lot of others worked on the Track and paid to get in. No-one can say we didn't try to keep it going. YES - we have a lot to be thankful for from Speedway Promotors here in Sunderland - I DON'T THINK!!
  17. Don't know - but - they reckon he was pretty hot.
  18. I thought they said on the Telly on Saturday Night that Tomas Gollob had said he planned to ride for another three years. Someone like him wouldn't pack it in yet - he loves it too much.
  19. Another CRACKING read. Enjoyed all of the Magazine but especially the pieces on Nigel Boocock, Eric Williams, Vic White and Louis Lawson. Looking forward to the next one already.
  20. I think this has gone far enough on here. I UNDERSTOOD when I joined this Forum that you could attack the Post but NOT the Poster. I like to read this Forum for enjoyment - not seeing people called names. Sometimes I agree with Parsloes1928 other times I don't - BUT - he has his views and he is ENTITLED to them - whether you like it or not. Let's get back to what we ALL want and that is enjoy ourselves discussing Speedway and having a bit of banter. I don't think calling someone a fool is appropriate.
  21. I think Billy Bales was the smallest Rider I saw.
  22. I had four favourites back in the sixties. Jim Airey and Gordon Guasco who both rode for Sunderland 'Saints' before they were POACHED by Wolverhampton along with Colin McKee. My other favourite was Ivan Mauger. In all he rode nineteen Races at the Bolden Stadium (Sunderland) - and - won the lot. Another favourite was Barry Briggs. Just to be fair Newcastle also POACHED Ken Sharples from Sunderland too. My contention to this day is that Sunderland were closed after eight Matches in order that Newcastle - and more particularly - Wolverhampton could be strengthened by the acquisition of our (Sunderland's) Riders. You've rekindled some memories there M.M. Those were very definitely THE DAYS!!!
  23. The question starting this Thread was: Has Sky Had Enough Of The Gp I don't know about SKY - but I have. It is VERY boring and so predictable. I agree too with the 'Saint' who stated: "Total dross = Ole Olsen's idea of speedway". Slick Tracks, No Dirt, No overtaking and most Races won from the Gate - Says it all really.
