Nice Post Tony - I did wonder about that. Come on Folks - buy the BackTrack AND Classic Speedway Magazines from the people who actually write and publish them. They are a bloody good read and if we buy them from source we ensure that they continue to be produced.

Yes - you are right - I can't argue with that statement. We did have our success's (Russ Dent, George Barclay) but the rest apart from Goodall who b******d off half way through the Season were - as you say - mediocre.

We have NO Covered accomodation at Redcar, we have NO Seats unless we take our own. The Facilities are basic. What we DO have - however - is FIRST CLASS racing and a FAIR Track. I am a pensioner and am fully prepared to sacrifice the first two for the latter two. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS GOOD SPEEDWAY - the facilities can follow in their own time. Obviously I would like a plush Stadium to stand in - who wouldn't - BUT - the main thing is the Product - SPEEDWAY.

And do you remember those 'cowhorn' handlebars on George's Bike.

I'm DEFINATELY not happy with that.... Thank you for helping me with my argument against the (Grand?) Prix System. THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET THE POINTS RIGHT !! Proves my POINT don't you think. (No pun intended).

Typical reply from someone trying to wriggle out of responsibility. According to an earlier Post - it was SUNNY. DEFINATELY adverse weather conditions for Speedway !! Wonder what they would have said if it had been RAINING. Any sign of the Race Director taking any responsibility yet?

Speedway Star will not say very much at all. The journalistic integrity seems to have disappeared where that Magazine is concerned - it has become a Photograph Album - a nice glossy one true - but still - just an Album. Eric Linden from the old Speedway Star would have had a field day with this farce. He probably would have torn the organisers to shreds. Now he WAS a Speedway Journalist......................

That would mean spending MONEY - all people at the top seem interested in - is making it.

MattK - I WISH I knew - I WISH I knew !! I only know that something must be done to prevent our Sport being even more marginalised and ridiculed than it is at present. What fired me up over this was my son who is a Football Fan (Sunderland before anyone asks). I came home on Saturday evening to my son grinning and saying "Speedway has shot itself in the foot again" - I was recording the (Grand?) Prix. He explained what had happened and I thought NOT AGAIN. I cringed when Keith Heuen, Sam Ermolenko and Chris Louis were trying to justify the situation - as has already been said - How do you defend the indefencible??? Bottom line to my son. "How can a Meeting be called off in an indoor Arena, and the reason given is a waterlogged Track". WHAT A JOKE!!. Blazeaway - I call it as I see it - I stand by all I have said regarding the (Grand?) Prix/World Final issue.

There is a DIFFERENCE between "gloating" and trying to voice the views of those who wish to put our Sport on a more credible footing.......... With 2% of (Grand???) Prix lost because of the sheer incompetence of the organisers, SKY people looking REALLY embarassed even Chris Louis was trying hard to contain himself - how much further into the mire must our belovéd Sport be dragged by people who do NOT have the good of Speedway at heart - only MONEY!! Oh - and Blazeaway - I am neither Extracting the urine nor Gloating - when things go wrong - people are bound to comment. You are right about one thing though - I have watched all the (Grand?) Prix on TV and am NOT impressed. The 'one off' World Final had something the (Grand?) Prix does NOT - STYLE AND CHARISMA!! SPEEDWAY IS SUFFERING UNDER THESE FACELESS PEOPLE - SOMETHING MUST BE DONE !!
