I seem to remember Per Jonsson being quite an average rider in the league in 1990 and his world championship came as quite a surprise, it was certainly the making of him though and took him to another level

I agree that Tai would have found it harder to win pre 95 not because he wouldn't have been good enough though but because it could have all been spoilt by a dodgy referring decision or a mechanic forgetting to turn the fuel on

And I thought we'd reached a low point with last years relegation play off, with riders riding for the same teams! British Speedway is the gift that keeps on giving

We've obviously read his original post in different ways... Perhaps he'll clarify what he meant by he keeps getting told riders are so skillful riding full throttle on slick tracks with a nice little air fence and wanting things changed when they're obviously to dangerous (ask Craig Cook) and I can apologise and we can move on
