A little bit of research seems to suggest that Les Collins replaced John Davis in one of his rides. Can anybody confirm this ?

Does any have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm whether Ian Fletcher (listed as reserve) rode in this meeting ? The heat details published in the Speedway Star show no mention of Fletcher in them, yet the Speedway Star, Speedway Mail and Yearbook confirm he did ride and scored nil points. Can anybody confirm whether Fletcher rode and if so, in which heats ? Thanks

Hi there. Can anybody confirm whether Les Collins rode for England in this meeting. The Speedway Mail and Yearbook advise that Les rode and scored 0 points (as a reserve). His brother Peter also rode in this meeting and the heat details published in the Speedway Star advise that Collins finished 4th in Heat 13 (was this Les after Peter was excluded for 2 minutes or tapes offence ?). Does anybody has a completed programme from this meeting to confirm ? Thanks

Hi there. Can anybody confirm the which heats Ian Clark and Colin Cook rode for Leicester in this meeting please ? The heat details published in the Speedway Star advise that Ian Clark scored 6 points whilst Colin Cook scored 1 point. It looks like Ian Clark replaced Colin Cook in either heat 6 or 10 not both heats as advised in the Speedwat Star. Does anybody has a completed programme to confirm which heats actually Colin Cook rode ? Thanks for reading. Steve

Hi there. Does anybody have a marked programme from this meeting to confirm Tim Hunt's and Kevin Jolly points scored in this meeting ? According to the Speedway Star, Hunt and Jolly scored 12 & 15 points respectively, whilst Peter Oakes's Speedway yearbook advises they both scored 14 points (plus 3 bonus) each. If this is correct, please confirm the heat placings as the published heat details shows the points scored as per the Speedway Star. Thanks for reading. Steve

Hi there. As part of my research into the 1980 season, I am looking for clarification of Swindon's Scott Autrey and Steve Koppe finishing positions in this meeting. According to the heat results in the Speedway Star, Autrey scores 7 and Steve Koppe 6 points yet the team scores advises Autrey scored 8 and Koppe 5 points respectively. It looks that the placings for Autrey and Koppe was transposed in either heat 5 or 11. Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm the correct placings ? Thanks for reading. Hi there Does anybody have the heat results (and times) for this meeting please ? For some reason the Speedway Star did not advertise the meeting in the forthcoming weekly fixtures or even report on the meeting in the racing record of the following weeks edition ! I do know that the meeting took place resulting in a 49-29 win to Poole as an article referring to the fixture was printed in the Speedway Star edition of 21 October. Thanks for reading. Steve

The BSPA 1968 Yearbook states that the Halifax meeting on 14/10 was scheduled to be against a British League Select. There is no mention that this was a challenge v Long Eaton. (as confirmed in the Long Eaton section as well). As in the previous post (as the compiler of the complete season files from 1965 onwards) the Speedway Star advises this meeting was against Long Eaton. The mystery deepens !

I will check out the BSPA 1968 yearbook tonight and let you know what entry it contains as this lists postponed meetings as well as the results.

Can anybody help me out with the correct heat results for the following meetings where the published heat results in the Speedway Star are incorrect. They are: 1 Wimbledon v Strongbow select 11 October. Stefan Salmonsson finishes ahead of Zenon Plech in either heat 1 or 18. 2. England v Australasia @ Halifax 14 October. Ian Cartwright finishes ahead of Reg Wilson in either heat 2,4 or 18. 3. Kings Lynn v Ipswich 21 October. Billy Sanders finishes ahead of Tony Davey in either heat 3 or 7. Again any help would be appreciated. Once completed I can then upload the season file to the Speedway Researcher website very soon. Thanks for reading Steve.

England v Australasia (NL) September 25 @ Milton Keynes. Wayne Brown finished ahead of Stuart Mountfield in either Heat 3 or 18. Heat results incorrect in Speedway Star. 3. Yes I was thinking about this when posting - particularly Craig Featherby and Nigel Wasley who were both killed on the track. Sad about Danny Kennedy who was impressive on both occasions when I saw him as an Weymouth Wildcat.

The first is Poole v Swindon BL meeting on 25 July - does Neil Middleditch finish ahead of Danny Kennedy in heat 3 or 5 ? as the heat results are incorrect in the Speedway star. The same type of query arises in the NL meeting between Berwick and Nottingham on 18 August. Does Craig Featherby finish ahead of Nigel Wasley in heat 3 or 10 ? Hi there Can anybody help me out with this one please? This meeting was not reported even mentioned in the upcoming fixtures for the week in Speedway Star. However, there is a mention that a meeting was to held on this date from an article published in the Speedway Star. What I don't know is whether this meeting was ever staged (or postponed). A source tells me that it was a 42-36 win to Workington and if so, does anybody have a completed racecard from the meeting ? I would be grateful for the heat results and times from the programme (if anybody has one). Fingers crossed the mystery can be solved ! Thanks for reading Steve
