Well lets lock the gates. I am trying to be positive and speedway is far from being in a good place at the moment in the UK. The point I'm trying to make is if we don't support, then there will be no speedway to watch either live or on TV. Instead of doom and gloom, what's the best way to rejuvenate the sport? Answers on a post card please (Or better still start a new thread and let Berwick be about Berwick).
-
I agree, but I bet if the crowds attended week in week out, like that was present at the last meeting each of them had it may well have been a different storey.
-
I'm sure Berwick are doing all they can to field the best team they can afford and within budget. Without supporters there wont be any speedway. Put some faith in the management and buy that ticket, because once its gone, its gone. Wont matter how many turn up at that last meeting to support the team they "Love". Ask Peterborough and Wolverhampton. (Sad but true).
-
Well done Oxford. Good price for all your ticket packages...

There is no doubt some riders will step up this season. Its just a case who will they be and hope we have chosen them.
-
Possibly due to not been accepted into the league until recently ?? So started team building late ??

The NDL lads will certainly pack a punch to any meeting. Their talent maybe raw at times, and their times maybe a second slower, but they don't hold back. These guys are the future of British Speedway and without a directive of developing them, then unfortunately there wont be any speedway. From what I have witnessed this year, the only difference at times was the name on the back of the race suit! As the racing /entertainment was no different to any Premiership or Championship meeting. Its great to see the likes of Woffy, Holder, Harris, and Sayfutdinov, but Boughen, Harrison, Mcgurk, and Hagon are more than capable of providing the same entertainment. Therefore the same value for money.

I wonder if now that the polish transfers window is closed, if more riders will commit to riding in GB again

Oxford vs Redcar - Champ playoffs - 24/09
magnus replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bit of a quandary for Oxford! Will Jenkins and Atkins ride in the NDLRC and take a ban? Or will the powers off speedway do something to alleviate it? -
Does anyone know if there's tickets available for the Torun GP?

WORKINGTON COMETS V KENT ROYALS 12/8/23
magnus replied to rocket007's topic in National League Speedway
I think it starts at 5pm? -
It appears there's live music on after Saturdays meeting. Does anyone have any information and is this open to supporters?
-
Great start to the season for Workington Reserve Luke Harrison, who was guesting at number 5 for Mildenhall, at Kent today with 8 points.
-
Been very quiet lately. Any updates on the track etc.

I was just reiterating what Jenga said about there are more important things other than who will be race day announcer. I agree the team, the league and the track looks fantastic and hopefully supporters old and new will come flooding back. Workington needs speedway and by losing it, it makes you realise how much you have lost. ( I never missed a meeting). I just hope others think the same...
-
I agree with Jenga. If the supporters don't come back, then the Comets may only be back short term and the track will turn back into a training track and going by the photos that would be a travesty for all in Workington...

Great to hear the Comets are returning Any further news ?
-
The track looks big, wide, and fast which looks like it will creates numerous racing lines. The Workington Comet supporters are in for a treat, especially with the elevated banked viewing areas. Hope they get the backing they deserve from both the supporters and by their local council. Good luck Workington and well done to all involved...

Well said THJ. I shake my head in disbelief and think the lads should start 'shovlar'en some shi#e'.. lol....

Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th
magnus replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Any hints and tips appreciated regarding which best airport, best area to stay in and seat allocation? Will be first time visit to Warsaw. TIA.. -
Lets all hope Workington (Comets?) can make a come back soon. If its true they can run open meetings next year, then lets all support their comeback and make sure it a success and they are not lost again. Having read about their recent set back and by the look of the pictures of their new track (class), lets all hope there is support from both local businesses and supporters and show that speedway has a place in Workington. If there's anyone out there who can help in any way, then I'm sure the promotion like any other promotion, would welcome any support big or small. So get in touch and help put Workington back on track. Who's up for the launch of the all new Workington (Comets?) Speedway? ☝☝☝

Sorry to go off topic, but can someone please confirm that if i am travelling back to the UK on the 4th of Oct from Torun. I don't need to have a pre departure covid test, as its being abolished from 4am of the same day. Does anyone also know if the polish authority's accept the paper copy of the passenger locator form or is it best to do the digital one. Thankyou...
