  1. My thoughts are there is 18 teams in both the Premiership and Championship. Southern: Somerset, Swindon, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Wolves, Peterborough, Poole, Leicester, and Rye House would compete in the Southern half. Northern: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Berwick, Newcastle, Workington, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Belle Vue, and Sheffield would compete in the Northern half. Number of riders could be an issue, but if the average for team building was raised slightly this could possibly accommodate more riders (possibly not as well). Yes costs also would increase with this, but that would have to be a calculated business decision which hopefully would prove a success. Please remember something has to be done quick, as speedway supporters at the moment are rapidly dwindling and so will the sport if a remedy cannot be found soon.
  2. Reflecting on how both the Premiership and Championship leagues seem to be running in 2017, with predominantly a lack of Premiership (elite) league riders, combined with fixture back logs for many clubs and a high number of riders doubling up making it more difficult to arrange fixtures and leading to a greater need of guest riders or R/R. But more worryingly supporters dwindling to the point where clubs are at risk of folding. Then surely the BSPA need to take a long hard look at how the sport can survive. My thoughts are: Switching to a fixed night could possibly work. (Proven in Sweden, Poland, and Denmark). Create only one league. Have a North-South divide for the first part of the season, then the top 4 from each divide compete in a play off, for the league title. The lower teams could then compete for something similar to what used to be called, the Young Shield. This could potentially keep supporters attending meetings in the later part of the season, particularly if their team are not performing so well. This would be due to the influx of new teams/riders and would be similar to starting the season again. Remember these are just my thoughts and yes no doubt the punctuation police will be out in force, but seriously something needs to be done if we want to continue watching the sport we love. Would be interesting to hear other supporters views and you never know the powers that be, may read these and take on board the supporters views and implement them for the 2018 season.
  3. The Comets seem to be beaten before they even go to the tapes when away. They seem to lack confidence and don't carry any form away from Derwent Park, which is very confusing considering the caliber of riders they have...
  4. So I assume British speedway is to blame then??????
  5. I admit they probably are and my status was probably a flippant one, but there are also other sports like Rugby League that do seem to have a high southern hemisphere contingent that people, that are participating in sport in our country.....
  6. This situation could only happen in BRITISH Speedway! To wait until this late in the preparation of the 2015 season is quite unbelievable. Lets remember these guys who are affected are not just speedway riders, they are also human beings who have invested probably thousands of pounds into equipment for the 2015 season. I don't particularly blame British speedway (however I may be wrong), but I do blame the system and the people who seem to be able to make decisions, that have a detrimental affect on the future of our sport and the lives of those affected (not that it seems to effects football). With little over two months to the start of the 2015 season and team building more or less complete, how can this be allowed to happen now????
  7. Have the BSPA decided how they are going to deal with all the start gate gardening this year? It was like gardeners world this year... lol.
  8. I think we may see Rusty back next season. Going off this seasons performances I think it maybe be a good idea....
  9. What's the date for the 2015 general meeting? What's your views guys on how we could improve British Speedway?
  10. The Comets were on song. Track superb and plenty of grip considering the weather. Where do we start with next years team building. Plenty to ponder guys, what ye thinking?????
  11. Unfortunately your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. This season if Workington didn't have any bad luck, then they wouldn't have had any luck.
  12. I am guessing this page was set up for team suggestions for 2015. So therefore here's mine IF the 42.50 team building average remains:- Josh Grajczonek 8.11 - Was quite consistent throughout the season. Rickey Wells 6.46 - A snip on this average and a 2nd season in Comets colours should pay dividends. Rusty Harrison 6.50 - Proved this season that he's still exciting to watch around his home track DP. Richie Worrall 6.50- OR Lewis Blackbird 6.30 - David Bellego 6.06 - Kevin Wolbert 6.19 - Taylor Poole 6.05 - Ashley Birks 5.68. Kyle Howarth 6.31 - Should be pushing for the No.1 race jacket this year surely. Mason Campton 4.55 - Should be an absolute bargain on this average for 2015 especially at reserve. S Lambert/J Jacobs 3.25/4.07 - Either prove worthy of a shout for 2015. After their delayed start as a Comets rider.
