  1. As most sports are now showing a shut down should people having a subscription be asking for a discount on even cancelling their payments. After all none of these companies are now offering what you signed up for. Will they make a statement or just ignore what is going on
  2. Soon nearly all countries will be closing their borders with other countries so riders (if there is any speedway) will only be able to ride in one country. This will apply to all sports so make the most of the next couple of weeks if you want to see any speedway
  3. As nearly all the teams are nearly complete in the Premiership I would go the following odds SWINDON 6/4 SHEFFIELD 4/1 IPSWICH 6/1 PETERBOROUGH 7/1 WOLVERHAMPTON 8/1 KINGS LYNN 10/1 BELLE VUE 12/1
  4. But the riders are not as good as they were 8 years ago
  5. Great signings and Jason is a great signing and will do very well. Will once again be one of the top scorers in the league
  6. Why do people keep suggesting names from the past. Lets have a sensible discussion please
  7. I would think that Speedway or a form of it started around 1890. Researching the word "Speedway" in first came into use in the USA around 1890 where a stadium promoted 2 and 4 wheel racing. Slightly early and seems to knock out Johnny Hoskins claim
  8. I wonder how accurate these reports are when it says half a lap with a puncture and the fastest time of the evening and in the last heat as well
  9. There are many sports that have a good advantage being left handed like tennis , table tennis, ten pin bowling but not polo or hockey which is a distinct disadvantage
  10. Surely Sir Arthur Elvin without whom there would be no Wembley Lions or World Individual Championships
  11. Today there in an anti greyhound mentality saying the sport is cruel and should be stopped. There used to be 33 greyhound stadiums in London and now I think there is only that number in the whole of the UK. If the anti greyhound brigade succeed it will then move over to horse racing like it is happening in the USA
  12. Except last night's match which was a cup quarter final and only 58,000
  13. One of the main reasons BT do not want British Speedway is they have paid a fantastic amount of money to show WWE Wrestling next year. They have lost the tennis Grand Slams which they used to show and look like losing WTA tennis to Amazon who have also got the rights to mens tennis
  14. For next season it makes sense for all teams to race on any night they want to. I would wager that not many would want to race on a monday night as it s the worst day of the week for promoting speedway especially when live TV is being shown
  15. Why was Jason Doyle not disqualified for putting both wheels over the white line in heat one
  16. In the late 1980's on a sunday stock car world championship final meeting there was 15.500 there which was higher than at Wimbledon with a Boris Becker tennis final
  17. Surely with the rain forecast today the match at Ipswich tomorrow will be cancelled as well
  18. I think you might find that Poole got knocked out by Ipswich and I don;t think in any sport they give the title to a losing semi finalist
  19. Not quite sure what you mean as I probably saw Freddie Williams and Tommy Price more times than any of the others and Tai Woffenden the least
  20. Every live match shown on TV whether in Europe or GB will result in the attendance being lower at any track promoting the same evening in this country
  21. What a good idea. Then nobody would need to go the tracks to watch live Speedway
  22. Freddie Williams was world champion twice and one second which was better than Peter Craven. In different competitions I think they met 18 times and Peter Craven only won six of these
  23. Probably one of the few people who has seen all the British World Champions my placing would be 1. Tai Woffinden 2. Freddie Williams 3. Peter Craven 4. Michael Lee 5. Peter Collins 6.Mark Loram 7.Tommy Price 8. Gary Havelock Just to add to this list Jack Parker, Dave Jessup and Kenny Carter as the best riders never to be world champion
