  1. There must be at least 3 Polish riders in an Ekstraliga team since next year. So... no, actually he doesn't have to be Polish to fit the Bydgoszcz line up :rolleyes: Why? Can't really say yet :wink: (although I wish the new rider was Polish, just in case)

    As for guys like Wozniak... I can't disagree he's young and talented and he would become much more experienced riding in Ekstraliga. But would Bydgoszcz get any points from him? Maybe a few.. but we need a guy who guarantees a certain score. There are many other tournaments where boys like Wozniak could gain experience but it can't be done at Polonia's expense. Not at this level. But maybe I'm wrong and the boy is good enough? Time will tell, in this case I won't be unhappy proved wrong in the future :)

  2. If we sign Lindback and Okoniewski stays in, we'll only need one good u-21 rider to fil the line up, which would look as follows:

    1. Jonsson

    2. Davidsson

    3. Lindback

    4. Buczkowski

    5. Okoniewski

    6. (u-21) Sajfutdinov

    7. (u-21) ...

    Our current second junior, Marcin Jedrzejewski, turns 22 next year so it was his last junior season. He'll probably be lent to one od Division 1 clubs. Another Bydgoszcz young boys like Damian Adamczak or Szymon Wozniak are gifted but not ready to ride in Ekstraliga yet, IMHO. So what we would need most is one top u-21 riders. Or one of world top riders instead of Okoniewski...

  3. Andreas Jonsson, Emil Sajfutdinov, Jonas Davidsson and Krzysztof Buczkowski signed their contracts for 2009 with Polonia Bydgoszcz today. AJ signed for 2 years already.

    Rafal Okoniewski will probably stay in Bydgoszcz as well :)

    The new rider to join the team is going to be... Antonio Lindback! My sources are saying T.Rick is coming back to the game and going to build a pro speedway team with Saifutdinov and Lindback in the line-up :)

    I think Lindback is a big unknown but under T.Rick's wings he may be flying very high. Time will tell... At the moment it's all very unofficial, maybe even rumours.

  4. Please don't tell me AJ was injured today!!!

    Anyone know why he pulled out of the match? Are the Hammers going into the play-offs with ALL of their top 4 injured? <keeps fingers crossed> :unsure:

    I wasn't at that match but on listened to it on the radio and they said AJ had ef in his fourth race, earlier had another serious one at Lonigo, and finally ended up having no working bike :rolleyes: Anyway, he's not injured, no worries :)

    Congrats to Leszno, if I had had to bet on anyone, I'd have bet on Cz-wa after all.

    But it all doesn't matter... as after 18 defeats on the battlefields of Division 1, the mighty Rawicz won a match today and scored their first league points!!!!!! :blink::D

  5. "Gollob is a hothead, and always has been". Oh My God, what a load of rubbish. Tomasz is one of the fairest, cleanest, most sporting riders there is. I believe you confuse brilliance on a speedway motor bike with your idea of being a hothead.

    The only reason he didn't make the final is that he is a true racer who believed he had a clean run on Crump who, having bounced of the fence, had already lost his balance and took a dive when he found Tomasz inside him. The same as Nicki did against Crump. Gollob would have stayed on his bike, Crump decided not to.

    It was so pleasing tonight to see TG beat Nicki fair and square in Heat 17.

    Couldn't agree more.

    It's gonna be a while till I calm down after this semi final, anyway.

    Roll on Gelsenkirchen!

  6. On the other side what happend in Czestochowa seems to be another example of our domestic speedway-wars, but where's too much money, there's too much pressure.

    Big money. Pasted from today's article in one local newspapers:

    2008 pays:

    * Nicki Pedersen - 2 200 000 zl (£ 536 585)

    * Tomasz Gollob - 1 800 000 zl (£ 439 024)

    * Jason Crump - 1 500 000 zl (£ 365 853)

    * Greg Hancock - 1 200 000 zl (£ 292 682)

    * Andreas Jonsson - 800 000 zl (£ 195 121)

    * Torun riders - 3 000 zl per point (£ 731 per point)

    The minimum budget of an Ekstraliga club for 2009 is estimated around 6 000 000 zl (~ £ 1 500 000) but the best ones may spend well over 8 000 000 zl :blink:

    We are the Premiership of speedway.

  7. AJ's statement which I've just put on his website:

    Me and my team members are tired of all phone calls which we've been answering constantly. Everyone's asking what I'm planning and whether I'm going to be "the second Holta". It's true I'm trying to get Polish citizenship but that's been happening for quite a bit of time, for at least two months. But now it's been linked with that frustrating situation from the Swedish Championships final and the storm has started! I have no intention at all to renounce my Swedish citizenship and my efforts to get a Polish passport have nothing to do with speedway or representing my country. For a few years I've been spending lots of my time in Poland and I lead a normal daily life here. Not only my speedway life. I run a company here as well. Every year I'm more and more tied to this country by my business. Unfortunately, being Swedish I encounter many restrictions when it comes to my business activities in Poland. Some things are forbidden, others are restricted for foreigners here. For example investments. I spend in Poland more time and I'm more involved in some Polish issues than some of Polish emigrants who live in England, Sweden or Germany. So all my efforts to get Polish citizenship are caused strictly by business reasons. I run a company in Poland and I want to lead my business activities in Poland in a more normal and easier way. That's all.

  8. The club just needs a man who knows how to speak with riders and sponsors. Who knows how to encourage them to sign their contracts with the club. As the current one is doing nothing.

    No one expects a dream team here but obviously no one wants the situation like 2 seasons ago, when we had a very weak team and finally dropped down to Division 1...

    Bydgoszcz nearly went to the wall circa 2003 and the reason was the amount of money going into the pockets of Mr Gollob. I think, but I'm not sure, that the current chairman rescued the club from that crisis.

    No, it was a different man then. The current chairman came in 2007 and immediately sent us to Division 1 :P

  9. ouch, that doesnt sound too hopeful then?!?! Was hoping to attract some decent names being back in the Ekstraliga altho the season hasnt finished yet so there is plenty of time i suppose.

    Look forward to hearing the names in due course. U can always pm me any rumours/potential signings if ya wanna get it off your chest!!! :lol:

    Let's put it this way... Unless the current chairman (the same old c*ck who sank this team to Divison 1 two years ago) resignes, I can't see any bright future for Polonia Bydgoszcz.

  10. Thats a big shame cos i was sure he would come back given they are back in Ekstraliga.

    Who do ya reckon they'll go for now Mateusz?? Any rumours so far over there??

    I have some news but can only say it doesn't look too good at the moment. But maybe some things will get sorted soon and it will get better.

    Have been told only one name so far and I'm far from being impressed.

    Will write more when I'm allowed to.
