Wot about Cleveland Park, home of the Bears and Long Eaton Stadium-let alone Somerton Park home of the Wasps. Don't get me started on the long lost Hackney Stadium. Is Pennycross in Plymouth still a possibility for speedway
Pennycross stadium was demolished. Now a housing estate.

Giuseppe rode eleven meetings for Wolves in 1976, achieving a 3.22 average.

Neither Trelawny or Somerset had stadiums but every visit was memorable and the racing was first class.

Raking this up in this context is pretty despicable.

R Lambert announced as guest for Woffy who is injured on Monday but fit to ride on the Sunday ( the day before ).
I have read the news item on the BSPA site and it seems that Lambert is a guest for Musielak. Sheffield are 'monitoring' Tai's progress on Sunday and Lawson is standing by to guest. Drew Kemp stands in for Claus Vissing.Â
Admittedly though, the news item is badly written and  is less than clear. -
Sad news. A rarity in sport, a competitor that did not divide opinion. He was respected and admired by all.Â
I was lucky to see him throughout his long and illustrious career. One of the great guys.

Will Ladbroke be sponsoring the Olympique this season?Â

More likely this rather than next.

1972 clearly a good year: Dave Gifford scored a paid max from reserve in May against Halifax.
-
I have a vague recollection of Tom Leadbitter scoring 15 at the spoons. Was it at reserve? Someone will be along……

I only saw it once - it was either absolutely perfect timing or he got an absolute flier - my initial instinct was he's got a flyer there! He was a bike length ahead after about 1 yard!

however in the interests of balance and fairness i am going to watch it again if they include it on theavailable download on discovery+
Heat 13 is on the Wolves twitter feed.

Ridiculous. Opening meeting of the season and already being covered by guests.Â
Everybody should be forced to use R/R for missing riders unless there is more than one rider missing. Guests are one of the biggest banes of British Speedway. The first meeting I went to featured a guest rider. That was well over fifty years ago. Additionally, I would venture that in a hierarchical list of 'the banes of British speedway', guest riders would not feature highly. Just an opinion.

A mention too for Jan Simensen. One of so many swedes who made riding a speedway bike look like the easiest thing in the world.

Today the weather is very wet in Devon I can't see Tuesday being any different. I expect an early call off with plenty of photographic back-up.Â
It is but I am eight miles from the track and this afternoon has seen thunder, heavy rain and now sunshine. The problem is it has all been very localised. This cycle is forecast to continue. I would want to be standing in the centre green to have any certainty on the state of things.Â

Could be. Karlsson Corridor is running in the 2.30.

Final heat of the night track records
in Speedway News and Discussions
Posted
The track record at Monmore in 1972 began at 63.4, set the previous year by Ole Olsen. A sign of how times change was the Midland Riders Championship qualifying rounds. In the Monmore event heat 20 saw Olsen beat Barry Briggs by about half a lap as he set a new record of 62.0 seconds. A new record seemed to be his ambition as he rode full on for four laps. If memory serves, it stood until 1975.
