  1. Well the way I look at it is that British fans would still go to Cardiff whether there was just Scott Nicholls as the Brit or Nicholls and Harris.

On the Gelsenkirken refunds thread, there are people who have tickets for Cardiff now.

Does it matter if there is a British rider there? Not to them it doesn't.

If you want to watch N.Pedersen, Hancock, Holta and Gollob ride against Crump, Jonsson, Anderssen and Adams in the UK you have to go to the GP.

  2. nicholls and harris have to be back in.

there would be a massive drop in attendance at cardiff.

what with sky and cardiff the uk bankroles the gp's so we should have at least two!

According to Sky's own figures, the SWC final was watched by more people than, the SWC last chance qualifier which contained team GB.

Therfore no it would make no difference, people want to see the best riders.

  3. Oh yes, Czech Republic and Slovenia, those 2 hotbeds of world speedway. You missed the main point completely.

The main point being ... you live in the UK.

Dryml and Zagar are more important in their GP's than any British rider.

The reason it is called a World Championship is because it contains riders from around the world, if the British ain't good enough they shouldn't be there,as for the Czech's Slovenians ditto.

  4. The GP series will always need a brit in it, otherwise thousands of true british fans will have nobody to cheer on in Cardiff, and the FIM know that. Therefore, as Scott is still the best brit out there, I fully expect him to get a pick. Harris on the other hand, has had his chance, and its time for another to take his place, and not neccessarily a brit either.

Congratulations to the new World Champion, as much as it pains me to say it.

Using this logic Dryml and Zagar should be wild cards next year.

  5. Yes.Attendance was 2500.

But that isn't so great. The big open meetings at Güstrow and Teterow get somewhere between 5-8,000.Both on the same weekend along with the Grasstrack meeting on the Teterow Bergring. So on the same weekend you should get 2 grasstrack meetings(although the first day is just quali heats)in the afternoon and two speedway meetings at night.Güstrow is just about 30 minutes away from Teterow.Worth a look.Although it is a big hilly grasstrack, unlike anything we have,so the riders go off into the woods and you lose sight of them a fair bit,if you are by the beer stands

At my age, if I'm in the beer stands too long I'll be in the woods as well.:lol:

    16 Franz Winkelhofer (0,0,1,0,0) - 1

I followed this on the updates on speedway-forum.de Iris but what does zuschauer 2500 mean, is that the spectators.

If it is then it's better than Lakeside had for their league championship semi final with Swindon.

I must get to watch one of these meetings at sometime. :approve:

  7. Surely no Insurance Co/Policy would cover human incompetence, therefore this farce must have huge financial implications on IMG.

Lets assume the following: Reported ticket sales were relatively low (10-11000). These as stated will be refunded in full along with a free ticket to another GP say average ticket price of £35 refunds of £350,000 due (double this if everybody takes up the offer of a free GP next year)

Surely, if Olsen was at fault, as was written in the Danish press article that Tarabanko posted, then it was an act of god not incompetence :lol:

Tickets issued by the BSI/IMG will only cost them, printing and paper, how many GP's are oversubscribed .

  8. I would think that you will not see a German Grand Prix next year. Then they could make the Oz GP more interesting by putting the £200,000 race there next year

That could be interesting, with only the champion assured of a place in the following years GP's unless there is more than one rider in contetion who the hell is going to bother going to Oz.

Will the fans flock to watch 16 Aussies ride a joke meeting?

Would you book a flight after this weekends fiasco?

Welcome to the circus where are the clowns?:lol:

  9. So why limit those fans to one meeting a year?

I don't disagree with that statement at all, but by cancelling yesterday's meeting and transfering it to Poland, how many of the fans will be able to get there.

What the BSI/IMG ? group have done, is stuck their finger up to the fans who went to Germany, they're confident of a profitable crowd in Poland, the rest will forget by March, who cares.

Next year then 11GP's in Poland and one in Oz.thats ok, it's better than one meeting everyone can budget for.

These people forget where their money comes from.

  10. I disagree, I think most fans have embraced the GP's it's only the dinosaurs that just won't let the one day final go. ;)

Most fans go to the GP's because, it's the only chance they have to see top riders racing each other, unless they travel to Sweden or Poland to watch the league racing.

A monopoly is one way to sell a product but it isn't the best way.
