  1. Coventry programme recently had a piece about Ron who was my favourite rider at Brandon in the late 60's, 70's. It said he had heart problems.
  2. Excellent crowd last night and very vocal, proving that people will travel, even on a week day night. The track was very different to normal, we were worried when we saw Colin Meredith out there, the racing did get better, especially good from those riders willing to chase the dirt. Bomber and Scott were a bit too close to that fence for comfort at times though. Too many heats for my liking and it tends to drag a bit. The Russians were good value and I was very surprised with Jonas, rode some very good races. Billy was poor, although felt he was unfairly excluded and was cut up a bit in another, still should have scored better though. Good to see Scott getting back to his old self. Overall a good team effort from G.B. but let's not get too carried away. A full Swedish team would have pushed us very hard and the less than grippy track obviously suited Kennett & Lee more. It will be very interesting to see how we perform on Saturday, when we come up against 3 good teams.
  3. Bit of bias here I think, Kennett is very poor at Coventry and has yet to have a good meeting there, whereas Howe has always ridden the track very well. Wrong decision in my opinion.
  4. Well done Bomber, what a brilliant night and so typical of him to leave us like nervous wrecks and to the win on the line like he did! Proud to be a Brit and even more so to be a Coventry Brit! This is the sort of action we see week in week out from him but to pull it off under that sort of pressure is just amazing. Nice to see Crump and Hancock showing such genuine gestures towards him. Was really glad to see Scott performing well again. He battled away and gave it his all. He was worth more points than he ended up with and yet again was unlucky in another Cardiff semi final.
  5. Well done Bomber, brilliant performance, we knew you would not be disgraced in the G.P.'s but 3rd. already is just fantastic. A Brit and a Bee, great.
  6. As posted what seems like 100's of pages ago, 2 British Bees in next years G.P.'s, great stuff. The undisputed British Number 1 and the battling, never give up, exciting Bomber. Will be right behind the Brits, as usual, and also looking forward to admiring once again, the thrilling riding skills of my non-British favourite, A.J.
  7. But he does go to work and risks his life every time he does.
  8. Different thread, but the same old rubbish. Somebody with too much time on their hands, obviously.
  9. I don't consider Scott to be inept and it doesn't bother me one bit whether he is in as a wild card or not. My main interest is in team racing and Scott has had some fantastic races home and away since he has been at Coventry and only a very short sighted person would doubt his ability on a bike. But when it comes to a G.P. I will cheer on a Brit and at the moment the only man for the job is Scott, no one else even comes close. Obviously you have a problem with the rider, what started out as a thread about Scott apparently not shaking Andersen's hand you have turned into abuse about the man himself.
  10. Friday's insert in Coventry programme, Oaksy says the clever money is on 2 British Bees in 2007 G.P. Scott a near definate and Bomber a strong possibilty.
  11. I can just see Cardiff now, all the Danish flags etc. held high, not a British one in sight.
  12. And which British rider would you put in then? Didn't realise I thought he was princely, royalty at Coventry. Oh well I always knew we were special.
  13. I know Scott wanted to qualify by right, which he would have done without his injury anyway, but were does he say he would not except the wild card if he had to? A G.P. without a Brit, I don't think so, do you? We have a shortage of top class British riders, so why leave out our undisputed number 1?
  14. I'm glad that Heffer has found his form in individual meetings towards the end of the season, but as long as Smoli keeps banging in the scores for his team over here, where my interest lies, I'll be more than happy.
  15. A huge well done to AJ on his win. He produced some magnificent overtakes, hanging off the bike out in the dirt, in difficult conditions and was a very deserved winner, reminding all us Cov fans of what we are still missing. It's took a while to gain his first win but hopefully now he's done it once, others will follow. Nice to see a rider so over the moon afterwards and getting so excited in true AJ style. Hope he can go on to make the top 3, as I think he deserves it.
