szkocjasid
I'm always have a curious look to see if a guest could help or hinder his team. (Edwards) Redcar & Oxford are rivals for a top 4 spot, so you'd expect Redcar to prefer a Plymouth victory, so Edwards could be harming Redcar's chances if he helps Oxford win. (Ritchings) No issues (Kennedy) you could argue Plymouth are Scunthorpe's rivals for the wooden spoon, but I don't really consider that a reason for him to turn down a guest booking. (Perry) Plymouth not rivals of Glasgow, no issues. Edited July 23 by szkocjasid

IMO Not direct rivals then, if Perry helps Plymouth win, won't knock Glasgow out of the top 4, for example.

Gladiatorphil
At the moment Plymouth are a one man team, with only Barker and Nicholls showing any kind of small support.
szkocjasid
After a poor start think Plymouth will be relieved to keep it close, gives them a chance of the bonus point. Oxford probably feeling the opposite, before the match would have said a 4 point win was decent as they were missing riders, but after such a great start, won't be so happy. Gladiatorphil
That could have been alot worse. It should have been a lot better. Fai play to Klindt, with decent support from Nicholls and Barker (given his operation). As for the rest, they need to take a hard look at their performances tonight ! Bowtell should have been a trump card dripping to reserve, not happened so far. Joe T can score double figures some matches, but also run lots of last places. Not easy to know what you'll get from Plymouth.

Maybe at home he will (but that won't be enough for Plymouth to move up the table).

This team-on paper and recent form- should be good enough for at least the top half of the table, and yet....here we are !!!!!

To say they are "not very good" is a bit simplistic. However after saying that,I do agree they are inconsistent. Bowtell and Thompson are quite capable of being decent 2nd string riders, Lasse likewise. Why,it isn't working only they know. Bojangles
Absolutely lovely to see Scott Nicholls back on a bike, and great to see him get such a great reception from both Plymouth and Oxford fans. He got better as the meeting progressed, clearly still knows the fastest way around Sandy Lane.

torpointfanatic22
Not the most entertaining of meetings for passing but not a bad first visit to Oxford Stadium and my lad (who was taking in his first live speedway) loved it so a good night overall. On the track for Plymouth, Klindt was different class and won all his races by a mile, looking fast. Nicholls also rode really well. Barker rode as Barker does, lots of effort but he's just not the level he once was and rode like a decent 2nd string. As for the rest... Thompson was pretty poor until making the start in heat 14, he tended to just get beaten up a bit on the opening bends and then stuck mainly to the inside half of the track (not the place to be after the first few races). Alfie was pretty poor and should be riding better than that away from home nowadays, just never looked quite on the pace and was lucky to hang on to his heat 2 victory, albeit credit must be given to Luke Killeen who rode exceptionally for a reserve rider for Oxford. Of the guests, I thought Perry looked a far more accomplished rider than I'd seen of him previously and just couldn't make a start. Kennedy probably produced the most forgetful guest appearance I've seen in a long time, mainly because he forgot he was even there! Definitely positives for Plymouth but you have to ask when is it time up for these established riders that just aren't kicking on.
