tonyd
If the Ipswich sale does not go through for some reason and they don't come to the tapes this year will that be the end of the premiership dream for all the teams? Also all this talk of Northampton almost ready to come to the party is there a question over the safety and air fence? With Spedeworth owning both Northamptom and Mildenhall tracks one has to assume that both tracks safety barrier for the cars are very similar. The air fence at Mildenhall was declared unsafe due to the concrete and steel post / wire wall at the of the fence and they were not permitted to join the league even with the extra protection between the air fence and the car fence. Has something different been designed for the Northampton track to make it acceptable for racing or is the car fence a different design? Just the thoughts of an old man on a Sunday afternoon waiting for the season to begin. 😊

I spoke to someone last week, not directly connected to Ipswich, but who knows what's going on with the takeover. He hinted it's 99.99% done, but the new people are very professional and won't say anything until they're ready to make an announcement. He seemed to suggest it's a good owner for Ipswich, and good for the sport. (Wouldn't tell me who the new owners are - but my money is on Mayfield). 3 hours ago, tonyd said: Also all this talk of Northampton almost ready to come to the party is there a question over the safety and air fence? The fence problem was that it's not an airfence, it's a foam fence, and the foam fence people went into administration. But it seems they're starting up business again and can supply the fence . 3 hours ago, tonyd said: With Spedeworth owning both Northamptom and Mildenhall tracks one has to assume that both tracks safety barrier for the cars are very similar. Why would they be the same? They're a very different size and shape, just like all tracks are different sizes and shapes. From what I've briefly seen of Northampton, it looks to have quite long straights, so I don't know if they'll bring the bends in to make the Speedway track shorter and wider, rather than run fully on the stockcar track. I'm no track curating expert.
