bigdave
An update from Stoney: A massive thank you to everyone who has supported our journey so far! Since announcing our charity road trip back in March at the Ben Fund Bonanza in Glasgow, the response has been nothing short of incredible. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already transferred £7,000 directly to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund (SRBF)—funds that are making an immediate, vital difference given the heavy toll of injuries at the start of this season. In just four weeks, myself and Nick "The Lip" hit the road, heading down to Folkestone. On the way, we’re picking up a very special co-pilot: current Speedway rider and Ben Fund beneficiary Dan Gilkes, who is joining us on the trip following his severe collarbone injury. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into making this adventure a success for the SRBF, and the finish line is finally in sight: The Car: Fully prepped, fixed, and roaring to go. The Look: A huge shoutout to poduk.co.uk for delivering our awesome custom decals today! Sponsor a Space: Want to see your name or business logo on the car? We still have prime sticker spots available for £100 a pop. It’s a great way to show your support on a high-profile journey. Follow the Journey: We aren't the most tech-savvy crew, but we’re planning to document the whole adventure—from daily updates to potentially turning the footage into a full mini-documentary! Every single donation, sponsor, and share helps us support injured riders when they need it most. Let’s keep the momentum going—thank you for standing behind us and the SRBF! bigdave
And then there were 3! We had the pleasure of finally meeting up with Dan Gilkes who is currently recovering from collarbone surgery. Paul Akroyd convinced Dan it would be a great idea to tag along on our epic trek and he agreed. We all had a great day at The Steve Casey memorial meeting and raised £1148, absolutely amazing. That puts our total paid into the Ben Fund at £9458. You can now see the Gofundme and track collections and social events all combined and we are now close to £10k, not long to go now!!!
