  1. Yep, I can remember going to Powderhall on the Comets supporters bus in 1981 and getting hammered 63-15. I think that Ron Bagley got on the bus after the meeting and apologised to us all for the terrible performance.
  2. You're wrong. There was a race at Workington v Scunthorpe recently where 3 Riders crossed the finish line within two hundredths of a second of each other.

  5. This week it was discovered that the BSPL have scrapped the asset system. See the separate topic on this in the news and discussions section.
  6. I thought the bond was there to ensure that if clubs closed unexpectedly with debts, the bond would be used to help settle those debts?

  8. According to Dick Barrie's column in this weeks Speedway Star, the system of riders being considered assets of clubs has been quietly scrapped. So clubs will no longer receive transfer fees or loan fees for riders who go off to ride elsewhere. Riders are now considered self-employed. Given that some clubs will have spent a lot of time and money building an asset base and therefore could suffer a significant loss of income, I'm surprised that this decision hasn't been more widely publicised and debated in the speedway press. Clearly this benefits new clubs or clubs who have never built or maintained an asset base. Also, I think it discourages clubs from taking a chance on investing in an up and coming rider, knowing that the following season, that rider could move elsewhere with no return for the investment the club has made. So I do wonder what the rationale is for scrapping this system?
  9. For those that cannot make it to the GT Tyres Arena, this meeting will be live streamed by BSN
  10. Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: George Edward WIGFIELD Born: 28 November 1906, Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, England. Died: 1990. Career record: (1929) Sheffield; (1930) Nottingham; (1931) Nottingham, Sheffield.
  11. At the moment you can order the Championship Pairs/CLRC programme from the printers (2025 Championship Pairs / Championship League Riders' Championship 2-IN-1 - Apr '25) for £5 plus £2.75 P&P from the printers
  12. It's common knowledge that at times Craig struggles with his mental health. If he's not in a good place at this moment in time, then he's done the right thing in not riding. Let's hope he's getting the help he needs and we see him back riding soon.
  13. According to the Poole web site, Richard Lawson 'requested to sit out the pairs'
