Josh has told us he will not be riding for any team in the Championship other than Edinburgh. He is looking to move up not sideways. -
Edinburgh v Scunthorpe Champ Play-offs Saturday 23rd Sept 7pm
Al Stewart replied to eide67's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Here are some comments that might be relevant to this discussion. 1. In considering a rider I believe the factors Edinburgh would take into account are: Quality, Cost, Availability. Nationality would not be considered. 2. Danny Phillips and Greg Blair were mentioned as possible alternatives to Dayle Wood. Meaning no disrespect, I would back Dayle to beat either of them currently at Armadale. 3. In my opinion we have not tried hard enough to replace Dayle and we have done him no favours by asking him to step into that role before he is ready. He is a good, entertaining NDL standard rider who has improved over the season. 4. HOWEVER it is not easy to find a really good replacement. We tried right up to the signing cutoff to bring Luke Killeen into our 1-7 but he preferred to remain a guest only. I think he was mistaken and has therefore had fewer bookings than he might have had. 5. Anyone else we might have asked, such as Sam Hagon, Max Perry or Max James, may or may not have wanted the job but possibly might have cost quite a bit, ridden better but not scored much more, and would be very unlikely to become an Edinburgh rider. Geography is always a problem for us. -

But he did, according to the updates, and won the heat. -

Has anyone quoted this yet: 4.2.4 A chain guard/cover that becomes inoperative or detached during a heat will not be subject to disqualification -

But not the Berwick v Armadale from 22/7, does anyone have those? -
Northern Junior League 2023

It's just been correctly pointed out to me that the Ref's downloads on the BSPL site include the NJL results. Full marks to the ref's and the BSPL website. -
Northern Junior League 2023

Does anyone have detailed results for these two fixtures: 13th May Workington v West Lothian 1st July Berwick v West Lothian I'm trying belatedly to compile detailed records for the 2 Edinburgh teams. -
Stellar Monarchs Academy vs Belle Vue Colts 14/04 7.30pm
Al Stewart replied to gmuncie's topic in National League Speedway
The Monarchs Stream was let down by its host platform Vimeo which crashed. They switched to YouTube to get it going again. Obviously the customers suffer and the club will be in touch with those who bought the stream and didn't get what they paid for. It can't be guaranteed that it won't happen again but it is something which should be extremely rare. -
Scottish Junior Championships 1991-1992 and 1995
Al Stewart replied to Puma23's topic in Years Gone By
I have had a quick look for this with absolutely no joy so far. I found some heats for the SJC 1995 on 8/10/1995 at Shawfield, but programme not filled in. -
Poole v Leicester v Poole play off final 21/22 October
Al Stewart replied to Skidder1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Glasgow used a guest in the Playoff last year for Marcin Nowak who was getting married, although that was on the day of the meeting. Pretty poor stuff really. I think Poole will win anyway, Leicester were awful over the last 8 heats. -
BERWICK v MILDENHALL (Play-off, 1st leg) SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8th
Al Stewart replied to crescent girl's topic in National League Speedway
I think it depends who is riding to some extent doesn't it? Is Bickley riding and if not is there a decent guest? Is Luke Harrison riding for Mildenhall? Or maybe even Berwick? Might Ashton Broughen come into it? These are all important factors. Not much info available. PS Just realised it is next week rather than today so the criticism of not much info is misplaced. -
Belle Vue v Ipswich Play off semi 2nd leg 3 Oct
Al Stewart replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Dreadfully written rule. One thing they need to do though before much longer is change the averages of riders who were here years ago and now ride on the continent. For a start anyone in the upper regions of the GPs should be automatically at least 10. -

Edinburgh v Redcar Play offs

IRR would not be allowed for aggravating an existing injury, thanks to the foolish rules. -
Berwick v Scunthorpe 27/08/22 7pm
Al Stewart replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So many posts on this thread were based on the absolute certainty that Douglas would ride in Poland, eg ‘Scunthorpe should not get a facility’. Bit of a wasted thread really. -
Berwick v Scunthorpe 27/08/22 7pm
Al Stewart replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As a wise Edinburgh supporter once said, every injured rider will have a point when he is injured one day and not injured the next. Also the recent ruling not to allow IRR for a pre-existing injury is a definite incentive to delay returning from injury. It's always been the privilege of an injured rider to decide when to return. There's no doubt Ryan Douglas has been injured. I'd be more inclined to ask why a facility is given for the European Pairs, a dud of a competition which other riders could have been selected for. -
I have heard from Clean Cut now and it was!
-
Can anyone tell me if the NDL Pairs was filmed for DVD? I'm trying to contact Clean Cut but haven't heard back from them yet.

Visiting riders at nos. 1 and 5 tend to score seemingly poorly at Armadale because they meet Masters and Pickering so often. It's different when they are on the Edinburgh side. That maybe suggests that Steve Worrall was the right man but I know that Edinburgh have appreciated Richard Lawson's efforts when he has guested this season. It's going to be a tough match anyway.
