  1. For anyone down in Chorzów today, looking for something to do on Sunday, I seriously recommend visiting the GUIDO Museum Mine in nearby Zabrze: https://kopalniaguido.pl/index.php/en/ It's really fun, and you can join a guided tour with an English guide. For reservations call +48 32 271 40 77. The ticket is around 20 quid per person.
  2. I presume you want to visit Auschwitz. Have you checked their website for tickets? (Which are free but need to be pre-booked.) I think you can get some on the day but I wouldn't want you to queue for 2 hours just to hear they're out for the day.

    Torun 2019..

Miskowiak is the current (surprise) U21 Polish Champion, although totally out of shape in recent weeks. Still, I can see why he'd be picked as a reward for winning the title. Zupinski? One of the many reasonably talented Polish youngsters. Gdansk is not very far from Torun, maybe that's what they looked at. Miedzinski is a bad joke in every aspect. Not picking Kubera who's the World U21 Championship leader blows my mind.
  5. It's shown live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2duNmUDO94 DMPJ stands for "Druzynowe Mistrzostwa Polski Juniorow", so "Polish Team U21 Championships". It should be interesting, with no clear favourites in my opinion. Grudziadz, Czestochowa and Zielona Gora have three decent riders, while Lublin and Gorzow have two potential high-scorers.

    Birmingham Brummies 2019

Well that was hugely entertaining! Big, big congratulations to the people who prepared such a wonderful track with all the rain we've had here recently. Marvelous result from Wright, and some great action from Paco, Nicol (the kid is positively mad, can we have more of him if opportunity arises?), and Shanes. Coles and Aarnio also showed great commitment. After Heat 1 I was worried that Worrall would remain unbeaten all night... But then Paco happened! The guests have still definitely offered some good racing. This was a great advertisement for Brummie speedway. Well done everyone!
  7. Well, it wasn't the most thrilling meeting I've ever been to but god I'm glad i got to watch some more racing before winter strikes! At the end of the day speedway is for entertainment and that's what we got. So I genuinely couldn't care less about the exact line-ups of the Wolves and the Heathens selects. Earlier this year we had matches in Australia with teams named Swindon Robins, Edinburgh Monarchs, Falubaz Zielona Góra and Leszno Bulls, and the sport somehow didn't collapse. I'm glad I got to watch Shanes, Morley and Clegg, as well as Rowe, Flint, Gilkes and the incredibly impressive Kemp. Nice to see there is so much talent in the youngest generation. Well, let's see what winter brings and see you in spring!
  8. Janusz Kołodziej is baaaaack! The stadium has official capacity 16700.
  9. Smektala's first huge race, 4 years ago at Czestochowa, mere 2 weeks after his 16th birthday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIQYSl4lQiE&t=1h38m45s

    Birmingham 2018

Well, I had a great time at the IL Challenege tonight so many thanks to all those who helped make it so: LaurenceRogers for a super friendly welcome in the pits, uk_martin for a great speedway chat throughout the meeting, and to kitten2502 for coming over to say hi as well! It was lovely to meet you guys, and meeting Richard Greer was a blast. And apologies if I met anyone else but didn't connect the face to your profile here! I really enjoyed some very decent racing in the second half of the meeting, and Ben Barker was as fun to watch as you guys predicted. (I'm very pleased to have caught Ben's excellent 3rd-to-1st in heat 9 on camera.). Looking forward to my further visits at Perry Barr!

    Birmingham v Peterborough ICL

After living in speedway-less towns for the last 9 years I could just draw it all myself tonight if necessary! I genuinely cannot wait for the meeting. The story of forming these line-ups is something to reflect on when it's done. At the moment I'm just grateful to the managers for sorting out a good bunch of riders despite all the obstacles, and to the skies for brightening up in the morning!
  12. The Rybnik fans support Daniel Bewley (apologies for a possibly silly link, I'm posting from my mobile). https://v.wpimg.pl/OTI1OC5qLCQhbjwlGBYuOCVUPToaASc7PV48bAATdmF5Ayt3AhV2Z3gIEHcCSXdtewR3bV8BKA==

    Birmingham 2018

OK, thank you very much! But if I seem nice then please feel free to adopt me yourself
  14. Check out the awkward race card for this event. Riders in red helmet (Mega Lada) start from gate 1 in the first four heats, then from gate 4 in heats 5-8, then from gate 3 in 9-12, and finaly from gate 2 in 13-16... Similar for the remaining teams.

    Birmingham 2018

Thank you kitten2502, that would be super kind but I cannot really tell yet what time I'll be at Perry Barr (that might only be decided on the day) and I wouldn't want to keep anyone waiting. I'm sure I can find the group with the hobbit's directions! I will be wearing a blue&white Unia Leszno hat so I should be easy to spot as well :)

Thank you! Hopefully see you on Wednesday!

    Birmingham 2018

Thanks *JJ, I've now studied the directions for the stadium so I should be fine. I'm actually coming by train from Harborne by (changing at Aston), that should hopefully work and be very quick. I was rather asking for directions to find uk_martin when I get there!

    Birmingham 2018

Thanks uk_martin, I'd be very happy to join you and show off my Polish! I just completely don't know Perry Barr so having some hints as to where to find you would be very much appreciated! Alternatively, we could exchange mobile numbers before the meeting. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday night!

    Birmingham 2018

Oh! I did not expect the Brummies' manager to reply when I initially posted my question! Thank you for the invitation Laurence, I'll try to sneak out from the office early enough to make it to the pits. So hopefully see you on Wednesday and good luck with the three coming away matches! Good job sorting out the line-up! (I'm slowly learning about Birmingham speedway.)

    Birmingham 2018

Hi All! I'm a relatively long term speedway fan from Poland who has very recently moved to Birmingham. I'm planning to attend the Wednesday match against Peterborough. If anyone here was happy to meet and chat then please drop me a message. It'll be (weather permitting, of course) only my 2nd speedway event in the UK after an SWC qualifier at King's Lynn a few years back so I have very high hopes! :-)
  21. Well, they've apparently agreed to let them in if they don't show it live, but only a couple of hours later. Obviously, this is just one side of the story. What matters though, no speedway for us at 8pm :-(
  22. Guys, the live coverage has sadly been cancelled. Apparently the Italians have threatened not to allow the cameras into the stadium. We are now meant to have the competition shown on the SABMAR YouTube channel around 10pm UK time. (info from https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/713731/nie-bedzie-transmisji-z-lonigo-wlosi-pokrzyzowali-plany)
  23. I think it's worth mentioning that Wroclaw declared that they'll auction their silver medals and all profits will go to Darcy. Amazing decision from the Sparta boys.
  24. Worse and worse news are coming in...I feel awful posting this here... Dariusz Ostafiński is a major Polish speedway journalist. His last tweet (@ostafinski) says: I've talked to the Falubaz team doctor. There's no hope for Ward. The cord was guillotined. Cervical vertebrae C6 and C7 have been damaged.
  25. The only new piece of news so far is that Jacek Frątczak, on of the major Falubaz officials, said that the doctors are preparing Darcy for an operation that's about to start soon. It's a false friend, "fatalna" means "terrible" in Polish.
