    1931 Clip

Australians in Paris 1928: http://www.itnsource.com/en/shotlist/BHC_RTV/1928/01/01/BGT407130859/?s=dirt%20track%20paris%201928 Any information on this clip from 1928 - would this be at Saint-Ouen? anybody know these riders?
  10. http://www.dn.se/sport/150-framsta-svenska-idrottarna-genom-tiderna/ This Swedish newspaper poll ranks Tony Rickardsson at 46 but no other Speedway riders I noticed. The Swedes have always been enlightened about Speedway and I thought Fundin or Nygren at least would have been here, would we get any in a UK poll?
  11. Phillips used a Rudge and the Rudge was the inspiration behind the all conquering JAP, and the argument was settled between the upright engine and the low slung Douglas. He advocated lay down engines and a few were made here and there over the years though I don't know if he actually made any himself or rode one. Off subject he also made a fuel injector that was sold by Hagon and some Speedway riders used them, I saw Peter Collins try one on a Weslake at Hackney in a second half.

    Dag Lovaas

I had the pleasure of watching Dag often at Tilehurst when the sport was big in Reading, and later he was an outstanding number one for the Rebels at Oxford. Superb stylist and so effortless, his prowess in the wet came from practicing on ice in Norway on a conventional speedway bike it was said. He was the last man to ride a JAP in a world final but in the end they couldn't get it to work with the silencer. His elder brother Ulf was a good rider and a tough guy, a Norwegian army sergeant.
  13. Hi Ghostwalker can you update on Bysarna? What is happening with the track at Hejdeby, is the for 80cc? will senior racing return to Gotland?

    Which Track Is This

The Pathe site has clips of old Rye House and you can find clips of SAL era Arlington, far more basic. Aldershot was first thought but I'd agree with Rayleigh. As Chunky says the pits and the buildings to the right with corrugated iron roofs are identical in the film and on http://www.defunctsp...uk/Rayleigh.htm, is the kiosk on the bend not painted yellow and blue, and the lamps are very distinctive. I only went there once and much later, sure some Rayleigh people on here could confirm.

    Brilliant Club Men

From Oxford I must mention Ronnie Genz, the king of Cowley, a Cheetah from 1954-1971 less a few seasons for Poole and a spot of freelance work for Exeter.

    Gote Nordin

I'm sure one of the Swedish rides of that generation studied town planning after retirement from the sport and had a role in local government in Sweden. I thought it was Knutsson but it could have been Nordin, does anybody know? Nordin was magnificent to watch, speedway as it was meant to be.

    Speedway's Best Ever Rivalries?

This episode is rarely if ever mentioned in the endless Nielsen/Gundersen debate. Olsen named Nielsen as reserve for the meeting at Oxford, I know he came out on parade but I don't remember if he rode, you would need Rob Peasley for the detail. It was an awkward and unnecessary thing, and robbed the public of seeing Nielsen in his proper role on the day.
