  1. With the SGP being held in September next year will the pairs still take place the previous evening? Or, as it is so late and depending on the league structure how about replacing it with the PLRC?
  2. Are there seats still available?
  3. Can you tell me how many weeks before the Principality Stadium, Cardiff send out the Grand Prix tickets. I purchased mine a long time ago but as yet haven't received anything. Thanks. P.S, These were purchased through the Stadium and not the SGP website.

    Thank you Sky for nothing

Is it Sky’s fault? Imagine giving a relation the opportunity of a lifetime in terms of money and in Speedways case TV exposure only to find that any potential gain in from the deal in terms of re-building and re-branding the sport had been squandered.

    Rye House 2018

Why has the statement about Rye House been removed from the SpeedwayGB website?

    Rye House 2018

If the powers that be really need to look at some of these threads as the people who are posting on here are the remaining die-hards that the sports has. Lose us and the sport will be gone for good!

    Rye House 2018

I am talking now as a fan in exile with no local track but I look back to Colin Hill's promotional reign at the County Ground. Often are teams put together weren't the best but we knew that under his ownership barring a failure to re-negotiate a new lease we would have Speedway. I guess that could be the same at Rye under Len Silver - not always the best side but under his stewardship Speedway would run. Like in all walks in life there are always people who think that they can do better than the present incumbents - only to fall flat on their faces and leave the sport at those particular venues in a perilous state. Hoddesdon was on our 'todo' list this season but we were told not to bother by some fellow 'Falcons' who informed us of the BMX track obstructing the view of the Speedway Track. Fingers crossed though that next season Speedway does return to Hertfordshire.

    Cardiff GP Tickets.

Hi, my tickets arrived today. A little disappointed that when I booked (first day they went on sale) that I asked for something near or opposite the start/finish line which the girl on the phone said she had done only to find that we are in the upper tier on the first bend. The latter concerning me more as the person who is accompanying me is disabled as was clearly stated on booking (as well as the tickets)

    Swindon Stadium

Not to mention Eastville, former home of the Bristol Bulldogs and Bristol Rovers. This makes interesting reading: http://torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=8858

    New Books.

With the publication of the Barry Thomas book - well worth buying in my opinion. Has anyone any news of any upcoming publications during the coming season? I know around the Grand Prix seems a popular time to launch.
  15. A bit of fun on this cold evening - caption this! I will start off, "Speedway frozen out by TV companies!"

  17. Me neither! Sadly, though it rarely arrives on a Thursday these days - Friday seems to be the norm!

    Tony Mole.

After reading Tony Mole's interview in this weeks Speedway Star and in view of his work in reviving and saving Teams over the years, wouldn't it be a great shame if that knowledge was lost to the sport. In an ideal world (now that he is free from any Club ties) he would make a great Chairman of the BSPA but would it be beyond the realms of possibility to create a role within? Perhaps assisting prospective Promotors and new tracks with potential pitfalls they face when negotiating with planning applications etc. Just an idea, thats all - but even if he was used in some consultancy role it surely would be beneficial to the future of the Sport in the UK.
  19. Looking at the statement issued by the BSPA it states: My question amounts to the the number of TS rides that can be used during a meeting? Is it limited to one or as many providing the deficit is six or more as many as the TM feels necessary? Thanks.

    Presenters And Announcers

The presenters of old often worked in the local media and had learnt there trade where as some of the newer generation are usually the guys who are first up at the local karaoke!
  21. I have just watched Nigel Pearsons video regarding the recent AGM. How amateurish it shows the sport with what looks like it is shot in a Pub with another sport sport playing in the background. PS, I am not anti-Pearson in anyway - I maybe in the minority on here but enjoy his commentary and think overall he does a good job for the sport.

    Tactical Substitutes Question?

I have just been reading the Speedway Star and on page 4 the article "Why we ditched double". If it can only be used once shouldn't it have said, "..will be able to deploy a tactical substitute between Heats 5 and Heats 14?

    Tactical Substitutes Question?

So in theory if you can only use the TS once it is is worse than double-points and potentially have a far less impact on a meeting what we previously had. I think the idea of double points was fine but the implemention was poor - "using the joker card" demeaned the sport a great deal and to the broader non-speedway going public only enhanced there view of the sport. On the other side of the coin how often has an 8-1 rejuvenated a meeting? Why not allow the Team Manager to use it as often as they like (maximum 1TS ride per rider) providing there side is x number of points down between heats 5 - 14 with the exception of the reserve races - reserves would still have to take a minimum of 3 rides - thus making them really earn there corn.
  24. Looking at the statement issued by the BSPA it states: My question amounts to the the number of TS rides that can be used during a meeting? Is it limited to one or as many providing the deficit is six or more as many as the TM feels necessary? Thanks.
