    Cardiff 2011

Won't make the same mistake next year by buying tickets on the day. Did anyone else have problems with the cheapest tickets being sold out? Wanted to go on third or 4th bend top tier and move around-Was told on the day they would be £60-whereas last year we bought them on the day at the cheapest ticket price. Ended up paying £40 a ticket for five seats on bend two slap bang at the top at the back up against the back wall and the five of us were seperated into 2 and 3 by a pillar with another few steps to climb.-Yet look over to the third bend top tier and hundreds and hundreds of free seats. Spoilt the event to a degree but my fault I guess for buying on the day. How the hell the old lady with her walking stick and the blind gentleman managed to climb that high I have no idea.
  9. Gems has just text back and said Yeay thats cool with a smiley face Aint told her yet she will be sat 400ft up in the gods and they will look like ants-Hope the big screen is working this year!!!
  10. Dunno who they are but Ickle Nevs likely to be well pleased, her first time at Cardiff and an X Factor specialist.Gonna text her now-she at a friends on a sleepover-see wether I get an excited text back or not
  11. I have just this minute cancelled two rooms at Park Inn Cardiff North for the Friday and Saturday nights,a family room and a twin room. They were cheap when we booked them last year but no doubt the prices will have doubled now they are available-Just in case anyone is still desperate to find somewhere to stay.
  12. Cheers for that SCB and Racers and Royals-so if we get a ticket Friday morning that will allow into practice?
  13. Never stayed over before and was planning to buy tickets on the Saturday, however is there an option to buy them on the Friday in Cardiff and then attend practice?
  14. Found this reason from a couple of years back, Not sure if this is allowed posting a link, apologies if not, or if it will work, but seems was the explanation at the time from Martin Dugard about why it was not happening in 2008. 2008 Bonanza Lets hope in the future these out of season meetings such as this can run again. Anyone got any news if Telford is likely to run in 2011?
  15. Seems in the stadium rules this year they are not stating about particular types of air horns on their rules page as in previous years, and the info can only found on the event ticket. Anyone care to look on their ticket,if they have received it yet and see what it says?? Certainly a couple of years back it was only ones with certain safety markings that were allowed in-Ours was checked and deemed ok. Interesting to see no Flags, banners, flagsticks or Poles supposedly allowed although its said that for a few years as well I am assuming Gollob will get in. 12. Fireworks, flares, air horns, smoke canisters, laser pointers, bottles, glasses, cans, large flags or flagsticks, banners, poles, and other articles or containers - including any which could or might be used as a weapon - are not permitted within the Stadium. An exemption may be granted to permit the use of air horns in respect of certain classes of event. In such a case, details will be printed on the event ticket.
  16. Bit of a worry-Jedward playing Christchurch Park Ipswich on the Friday Hope they don't cadge a lift on the Ipswich supporters club coach to play a freebie at Cardiff. Jedward at Ipswich Fri 9th
  17. The pass in general would have been acceptable apart from the fact that once whilst squeezing through he was not content with that and decided to barge Harris an up and under to his elbow whilst saying "Have some of that son" and don't forget to keep turning and turned left on him even further-get out of that one..Just seemed as what started as a legitimate overtaking bid got a tad too over zealous and one which went one step too far imo I feel Harris made the right decision to bale out Although Neutral I think the ref had it right on this occasion.
  18. Thoroughly enjoyed that, not the borefest they can sometimes be. If that sets the standard for the rest of the season bring it on-Just hope the following meetings are as entertaining as that one was.
  19. Best of luck to all Workington supporters and all involved for tomorrow nights 40th anniversary meeting. Hope the weather is kind to you all and you all have a great evening.
  20. Yeah but Trees there is a bigger picture here,It is a celebration of 10 years at Somerset, from what was once just a farmer's field and has gone on ten years later to be one of the best racetracks in the country, and having some of the world's best riders there on this occasion just shows what is possible, and is a reward for the fans to see guys that they may not see in action apart from Sky or Cardiff for the whole season as Najjer says. Sure it is going to increase the crowd, some reward for those loyal fans from the past ten seasons who stuck with the Rebels through thick and thin.(I don't include myself in that-just a very occasional visitor) In this part of the country unless you can pay to travel miles this sort of lineup is a treat with no disregard to other riders not chosen. Think of the likes of the fans from deepest Cornwall, gonna take em at least three hours to get there-This region is not central to the rest of the country people do not just pop over to Coventry,Poole,Swindon etc and the chances of seeing riders you only see on TV racing live at Somerset is a one off at a more than reasonable price.Theyaint charging £25 a ticket which other meetings have!!! Fairplay to everyone at Somerset for putting this on,looking at the bigger picture, giving the fans what they dont often get a chance to see and hope they are rewarded with a bumper crowd. I Bet a fair few riders who arent racing but would like to be will be there to witness it

Once Your Team Has Closed Down

Since Exeter closed five years ago I can honestly say that I have not been able to "support" another team. Mainly due to finances I go to very few meetings these days, however I do like to keep an eye on Somerset and when I can visit it is a treat to watch the racing there, wish for them to win, however,I don't get that deep down burning fire in me belly that it is MY team. Maybe it was the uniqueness of The County Ground and watching the Falcons mainly at home for nigh on 40 years,to me anything else just is not the same, even if the racing is better!! (matter of opinion) I still love speedway to bits but no matter where or what I watch or see, or how good the racing is. in my heart it is not the same as the feeling of watching our beloved Falcons flying and every second and every move of every race keeping you on edge, willing them on even if getting thrashed or a length behind or some nutter going to try and do the impossible and get away with it-(Richard Green and Vaclav immediately spring to mind)--Oh and of course the good times winning the league KOC etc You can love the sport, but to love the sport with your team part of it is something that is the difference imo and adds the 20% extra special feeling. Once a Falcon always a Falcon and I can't see anything ever changing that deep down. The one thing that will forever stick in my mind and my son's is that at least we were lucky enough to see the closure of The County Ground in style and was known about whereas other fans of other tracks have not been that lucky with their track suddenly closed down without warning and no chance to say goodbye which must be ten times worse Thankfully The Exeter faithful and many other fans had that chance to say goodbye to our unique, tumble down antiquated, decrepid, and any other word you wish to use home since the year dot.
  22. Sure do WayneO Maybe we can negotiate-Where is Terry Tibbs when you need him.
  23. Seems our friends that cancelled have had a wonderful week so far putting their Cardiff savings for better use. Big Al was finally reunited with his son and daughter that he hasn't seen for 14 years since they were almost toddlers today and how over the years they never thought he existed or cared, which was far far from the case, and his wife kim loving it as well Happy ending -chuffed to bits for all of them and his new found again family.-In that circumstance hell whats blowing your Cardiff savings if you meet your kids after 14 years against a weekend in Cardiff???-no brainer Chuffed to bits for you all if you looking in Al chap and now maybe relax and enjoy the rest of the week with em,then tentatively suggest they join you in Cardiff in 2011 and let em see for themselves what this mad sport their dad follows is all about
  24. Ladies ladies please.... I am trying to flog a two night family room here costing £180 that will get readvertised and sold for £400 if I cancel it This is my first dip into the property market if booking hotel rooms at Cardiff counts-stuff it, next year will go there and back on the Falcons coach and be home by midnight as in previous years, wont tie the car up for two days,no toll fes on the bridge and no upsetting her ladyship and little princess either when she looks outside and sees no car Friday afternoon-Mum wheres the car gone? has someone nicked it??-No your dad and Craig have gone to Cardiff for two nights
  25. I am just about to cancel a family room at The Park Inn Cardiff North as some friends that were coming with us can no longer make it. Its a family room for two nights (Fri and Sat) at a total cost of £180 at the time for both nights. The room is booked in my name and will be charged to my account. My question is this-It is currently £180 for one night for a double-I have never cancelled a room before-so if someone on here wanted to take this booking would the hotel allow me to transfer that room and the booking to another person at that rate? or should I just cancel it and they then resell the room for about £400? I dont want to be responsible for the cost of the room on the day but it seems a shame to cancel it if someone else could make good use of it at that price if it could be transferred to them with their details. Any advice?
