    The continuing decline of Speedway

Is it time to wake up? Are the rest of the world v Warburton's still arguing?
  2. Oh the same no doubles, thank you. Please can you pass that on to the Sheffield management as they made a right balls of the scoring when they were there last time (so I'm told) losing by 6 points and convinced it was only 3 and thought they were in with a chance of winning so put everybody at risk in the blind slop and persisting rain just 'cos they don't know the rules and couldn't add up!

A brilliant ethos and I sincerely hope it continues forever. If I look back there are many Promotors who started their careers with such admirable qualities but allowed the red mist of win at all costs to cloud their judgement over the years. Poole were great at it, so were Peterborough under Rick and Julie, Len Silver always valued his customers until they consistently battered him on social media, Scunthorpe was a fabulous day out when it was in the lower tier (racing is still good) but aspirations of success and elevation bring cost challenges just to keep up with the Jones's and soon enough the viability is threatened and the focus moves from your type of ethos to win, win, win or I've got to stop bleeding out of the rse and cut costs. Please don't get drawn into that swamp, the newts will all turn into alligators come the AGM and you'll need more than your old survival suit!
  7. Are you referring to the bloke who only rocks up to BSPA meetings half of the time and the vice chairman sits in for? That's why Godfrey has gone un(sense)checked
  8. 'cos nobody actually gives 5hit any more!

Can one of you pm me when you're done so I can pick up the thread later please?
  10. As much as they have refused to do it every year there are enough clubs in the top 2 leagues in fixture trouble that a 7 day extension might just soften the blow. Let's be honest this regime have done what they liked with the rules so why not make an exception for this one?
  11. The more likely explanation is that Robin Bungle is full of schit, this never had a prayer and when folk were telling it how it was he twatterred the opposite

    Sheffield 2018

They can save on Bjerre now that their season is almost over.
  13. Then why did the BSPA adopt the official fixturelist?
  14. Maybe Simon will go of his own accord, how can he manage and motivate a team with the owners rampaging and undermining him? It's their train set!
  15. Speedway is "recognised" by Sport England who issue guidelines and the definitive list of banned substances. Each recognised sport has to have a testing regime and the Sport England principles enshrined in it's rules and regulations. The ACU/SCB take care of this but apart from Speedway's own testing regime Sport England testers can rock up at anytime, produce their ID and get on with it. An acquaintance of mine is an early retired Detective Sergeant and he spends 1 day/evening each week testing for Sport England, he has a defined geographical area and gets roughly 12 hours notice as to where he is going, what sport and how many competitors to test (he may be given the name/s of a suspect to be included). Agreeing to submit to a testing regime is a licensing condition and the SCB expanded this to all licensed officials 2 ish years ago so that non riders may be called upon to be tested for alcohol or illegal substances at random. I think we all know and my acquaintance confirms that most of the visits are as a result of "information received" or perceived behaviour.
  16. It's no different to what they did with Wood and JPB then spun a story afterwards.

So they ignore the plight of clubs who are forced to change race night and it's no secret that Rye House and Belle Vue opposed it, switching back will not automatically bring all those lost customers back they will need to be enticed. The one league proposal may do that but this solution will increase the costs of the surviving CL clubs who are losing money so they lose more and the current PL clubs will have a small cost reduction so may lose less per meeting but will have more meetings so they lose more money too! The next solution is to reduce it to say 13 heats to take 12 points out of a match and maybe a bonus point too and/or 5/6 rider teams to reduce travel, sign on, vans, mechanics, tyres, fuel, insurance and accomodation cost that some of these silly battards have been paying. To me this is rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, they're not clever enough to implement it and they do not have the personal integrity to agree, uphold and abide by the rules and regulations to make it work. A cheque book Speedway club will win the league and ultimately it will fail for the same reasons as last time. Exeter, Long Eaton and Sheffield were left without number ones and had to throw a small fortune at Loram, Correy and Ermolenko to get them out of the mire and stop them losing at home. The top riders went to the top payers simple as.
  18. Maybe they've heard about the BSPA's exciting plans and are trying to get under the 30 point limit

Not quite fixed race nights were to avoid clubs being in conflict with double up riders, it was to allow riders to ride in both leagues if necessary. Once guests were needed on a Friday 3 CL clubs were chucked under a bus to make more riders available.
  20. Look out for sick notes and guests, it usually happens after a car park discussion at Owlerton between rider and promotion then all of a sudden food poisoning strikes and rider is replaced not that i'm suggesting that happened with Wood or JPB, but it did
  21. It's a challenge match otherwise it would be inscribed by the FIM and take precedence
  22. Or race at a lower level
