    Stars v Panthers 01/09/22

PETEROROUGH’S injury jinx has struck again ahead of tonight’s (Thursday) Premiership trip to King’s Lynn. Already missing Michael Palm Toft and Ulrich Ostergaard in their top five, the Crendon Panthers will also be without Hans Andersen who suffered concussion in a crash at Poole on Wednesday in Neil Middleditch’s Testimonial meeting. Andersen will be ruled out for nine days, and Panthers are grateful to James Wright for answering the call to step in at short notice in a situation where rider availability is extremely limited. Panthers are also still to confirm a rider in the Rising Star position as Jordan Jenkins is injured and Jake Mulford is already in the Czech Republic preparing for his European Under-19 round this weekend.

    One is James Wright apparently….

The facility for an RS in the 1-5 is to use the No 8, RR, or another RS as a guest, so neither of the suggestions in bold above could happen.

    Panthers v Tigers 29/08/22

STATEMENT: PETERBOROUGH v SHEFFIELD Wednesday, August 31, 2022 BRITISH Speedway Promoters’ Ltd and our official tyre partner Anlas can confirm a full investigation into Monday’s abandoned Premiership fixture at Peterborough is taking place. All parties are fully committed to understanding the circumstances which led to a halt being called after ten races of the Panthers’ match against Sheffield, and to avoid a repeat in the future. Going forward, we can immediately confirm that for the remaining meetings at the East of England Arena this season, all riders will be provided with two new tyres at the start of the event. This will be in place in time for the Peterborough v Ipswich fixture on Monday September 5. The Alwalton circuit is unique in the sport, and has previously presented challenges with tyres, regardless of manufacturer. It is possible that the conditions arising from the afternoon start to the meeting were a contributory factor, especially bearing in mind that the previous occasion in which there were significant issues was also a Bank Holiday daytime event, although in that case it was possible to complete all 15 races. BSP Ltd and Anlas treat rider safety as top priority, and whilst accepting that isolated incidents are and always have been inevitable, we are all determined to reach a conclusion which overcomes the challenges presented by this circuit. As a club, Peterborough is as important to us as all others. Anlas were immediately in touch with us when they became aware of Monday’s issues, and we thank them for their continued support. We look forward to working with Anlas on finding the solutions which ensure the circumstances of Peterborough on Monday are not repeated, and we are all sorry for supporters present on the day that the meeting had to be curtailed.

31st August as usual, but with the requisite three days notice changes needed to be made by Sunday last.

That would be the pile of used tyres awaiting disposal

The ‘donor team’ would need to sign a replacement rider for their 1-7, despite having no meetings left and it’s difficult to see that happening. The transfer deadline has now passed. The BSPL would not, in my opinion, agree such a re-declaration as being in the best interests of the sport.

That can’t happen, riders remain contracted until 31st October. The rider could guest in the play-offs though

    Disqualification alternative

SR 011.1.11 Primary Cause of Stoppage The only person with the power to stop a heat is the Referee. When a heat is stopped, the Referee shall disqualify the rider, who in their opinion is the primary cause of the stoppage.

    Plymouth Gladiators 2022

Changes have to be in a declaration by 31st August so 28th August is the effective deadline to allow the requisite three days notice.

    Panthers v Stars 25/08/22

I agree that I exaggerated my response to 'Iainb's ever more unworkable 'one size fits all' regulation suggestion, just to prove a point. The Speedway Regulations already contain a protocol for postponing meetings: 02.2.8 Promoter / Associate Must sign the Meeting Certificate and remain in attendance during and immediately after the meeting. They are responsible for the organisation of the meeting, ensuring all requirements of these Regulations prior to and during the meeting are met, including payment of the appropriate fees, insurances and other statutory requirements. Specifically, the staging Promotion is responsible: - a) to never advertise an event in a misleading manner; not to classify a meeting as an ‘International’; or ‘British Championship’, except with prior BSPA permission, nor ever use ‘Grand Prix, World Cup or World Championship titles’ b) to ensure the track receives timely and adequate preparation c) until 2 hours prior to the advertised start time may postpone the meeting if there are exceptional conditions as would make racing impossible, except where: i) the SCB specifically forbids a Promotion from so doing ii) if a Meeting Steward is appointed to the meeting and must advise the Referee at the earliest opportunity Despite 'iainb's denials, economics does come into the equation because of the significant amount of money a late postponent will cost.

Just pointing out why your 'one size fits all' prescribed regulation would not work.

    Mildenhall 2023

Muff is in in Mildenhall’s 1-7 so is a legitimate choice at No 8 No Correct

    Panthers v Stars 25/08/22

I've explained why a 'one size fits all' policy would not work. To speak to your proposal: 1 - on a Saturday afternoon a major fire destroys all electricity supply to Monmore Green, but Wolves can't postpone until the Monday morning. 2 - In the case you describe the meeting would be postponed, not abandoned, and no further racing is permitted on the track that day.
