Excellent from Max there on lap 1. Quite why the sport doesn’t adopt one lap dash’s is beyond me as at most tracks nothing of note happens after the first lap. Be over quicker as well.

That made me laugh because my son, who is not interested in Speedway, has always said that. :D

I also think Bruce Penhall was on it. I think they did quite well too. Again, shows that fitness is a real factor in speedway.

Really liked Superstars and what a theme tune! But like a lot of older shows, when you watch them back on YouTube, they are never as good as you remember them.

Yes I have got a few photos of Bruce with Geoff Capes, George Best etc. in one of my Speedway albums on Facebook. I think I won them in a Speedway Star competition but no idea now what it was.

I don't really remember any specific performances but I do remember him riding like a heat leader one week and then a reserve the next... you never really knew what you were going to get. Didn't he go on to be a successful engine tuner under the guise of Finn Rune Jensen?

I dont think it was a week ~ more like a match. 3-0-3-0.  I used to hate that. :D

.... surprised Gemini that you don’t visit Leicester speedway anymore anyway hope you are keeping well.

I am keeping very well thank you but my 4 wheels these days is a mobility scooter as I no longer have a car. :) Even if I did I dont think I would bother  though. Sad but I couldn't cope with all the hanging around these days.

You would have loved it at Leicester last night then... 40mins of tractor racing between the meetings and the usual amount of tractor racing during the meeting... 30 minutes racing packed into 240 minutes

It's things like this that make me realise I don't  miss Speedway meetings now.

Regarding the tractor comment we get the same at Kings Lynn, Buster just loves to show off his collection of tractors and other bits of equipment he does more laps than the riders.

One of my hates whenever we went to Kings Lynn. I'm sure all the track grading isn't necessary but is just done to make the meetings last longer, otherwise we would all be home within an hour. :D

It made my day after seeing Lions thrashed away by Scunthorpe and Plymouth earlier in the season! It would be interesting to know when or if a Leicester team last won at Wimborne Road. Certainly not since the Lion's reopened in 2011.

Don't make a habit of it and definitely don't beat them home and away to be champions. They don't like that at all. Like the disappearing thread all the hot water goes and the opposing team are left with just cold showers. No celebrations,  no congratulations. Just awful sore losers.

I agree, we don't know what goes on in kitchens and suspect we would be horrified if we knew. However, for me personally, I would prefer to avoid a restaurant that allows dogs. A restaurant is for the social experience not just to eat food. I did go to a restaurant recently with some people and I was being treated. One of the party brought their dog along, which I wasn't expecting. The dog didn't settle and was a pain in the proverbial!

But the same could be said of a pain in the neck child. Personally if I knew I had a dog that didn't behave I would have left it at home so that was the owners being inconsiderate.  I can 100% guarantee that Lucy my Border Collie will just lie down and not be any trouble to anyone wherever she is so I regularly take her to a Tea Room next to the canal where we walk every day. Dogs are welcome there.

I admit I'm not a dog owner, but I have respect for all animals. But it seems to me, we have moved dog ownership up a cog, whereby, owners seem to think it's a good idea to take the dog everywhere, including a noisy environment like speedway. We now have many dog friendly restaurants, which I feel is not condusive with health and hygene. A dog, is a dog, is a dog, not a human being! Don't get me wrong, we have many, so called, human beings, who behave worse than animals!

What if the dog isn't at all bothered by the 'noisy environment'?  I always took a dog with me when going alone to Oxford, Wolverhampton, Peterborough, Coventry or Leicester. None of them have ever shown the slightest concern about noisy motorbikes, in fact quite the opposite as they just went to sleep on a blanket while the match was on. Border Collies too that are supposed to be lively. :D

IIRC in the 2010 season every team had a number 8 they could declare at any time for a meeting in place of any rider. Coventry's was Aaron Summers and I suspect they used this RULE to make sure Pawlicki didn't ride enough meetings to move up before the Play Offs. A masterstroke to be fair, but a rule not thought out properly at the same time (who knew?!)

A rule that Matt Ford would have used himself if in a similar situation as he was an expert at manipulating rules if it gave his team an advantage.

I was one of the Pirates that went to this meeting, wasn't many of us but we were noisy!

Shame Steve didn't go as you could have doubled the noise. :D Well done to Poole anyway.....and I say that through gritted teeth....but there you go,  I am proud to say I have managed it.

lucifer sam........Steve, didn't see you there last night, or I would have come and said hello. Was a pretty good meeting. Best racing I've seen produced at Leicester.

Good job you didn't spend any time looking because he couldn't make it.

Agree with you Gemini - I was fortunate to be there  in the main stand just a few feet in front of the start line and in the front row - An absolute corker of a meeting and every time Belle Vue put distance between the two sides back came Peterborough - I stayed overnight and was looking forward to seeing the meeting again  on Quest that evening - Major disappointment with so many adverts and missed heats including Dan’s heat 11 (I think) victory with him making his way out to the outside line on lap 3 and building up the speed to pass MPT - A big thank you to the track staff who once again provided a cracking track for proper racers - Only downside at the meeting was how long it dragged on from the first race 18 minutes after the start time and continuous gaps to suit the Eurosport coverage - Hope the 2nd leg provides the same level of racing and good luck to both teams -

Missing were heats 2 (the re-run after Hans Andersen's crash) 4, 8, 10, 11 and 14. Yet they have shown the majority of other matches that have been pretty boring.
