  1. Managed to speak to Celina in the pits prior to the meeting, she was certainly still battered and bruised from last weeks fall.

She said her right hip is fully black with blood spots, and it hurts to move. She is so determined and has definitely made an impression with Comets fans young and old at an early stage. That’s all that matters here, I don’t think we or she will care about outside negativity. She is so mentally strong and will laugh the negativity off.

Her dad Jurgen and sister, drove over from Germany with her best engine that was sitting at home. He only arrived in Workington at 10.30am yesterday morning having drove all night, and then proceeded to start working on her equipment ahead of yesterday’s meeting.

If she can get out of the start which she’ll be working on, I’m convinced she’ll start picking up good points instead of having to do it from the back.

Speedway is to me is not a tribal sport, and I don’t see comments posted here echoed around Social media platforms.
However the comments here are still fairly tame compared  to other sports. Would take these comments with a pinch of salt.

The experience at Northside is miles better than the Derwent Park days in my opinion, I wasn’t sure on the Afternoon starts at first but the numbers of families attending is really showing. All positive stuff for me!

With improvements to FIM standards coming all the time and the inclusion of a Newport style ‘New years Classic’ in the pipeline we could be running all year round on this track.

  2. Looks like Celina Liebmann pulled out of the Italian Championships she was going to be riding in.

Upon checking the results, was shocked to see a certain number 5 scoring 11 points and still riding!

Maybe he can return to the comets on a 4 point average next season

  3. Very enjoyable evening at the Ecco Arena, track was great as usual, and good craic with the Redcar fans.

For the Comets it was very promising to come back from a 12 point deficit, Cookie was somewhat back to his old self, 13+1 but I think he will still get better.

Tate and Antti, were exciting to watch after taking a few heats to figure out the track. Very exciting prospects, who will win a lot of races as already shown at Northside.

In my opinion, we have 5 potential heatleaders in this side. All 5 had at least one heat win tonight

Haven’t talked about Claus and Batch yet, but Claus is really flying isn’t he. Thought he’d be in Heat 15, but Batch had another good night

Celina battles really hard, and was her best showing so far. Such a determined rider

Sam Mc is only learning, just like Ben Trigger is. Some stronger 2 point reserves out there but they’ll both get there by mid season

  4. Redcar away preview - https://cumbriacrack.com/2024/04/10/workington-comets-look-forward-to-redcar-bears-clash/

Bain will stand-in as team manager on Friday as Denham is unavailable and will go with the same riding order as the Berwick home line-up – 1, Craig Cook; 2, Tate Zischke; 3, Antti Vuolas; 4, Troy Batchelor; 5, Claus Vissing; 6, Sam McGurk; 7, Celina Liebmann.

Riding order seems to have Batchelor at 5 though, which isn't the same as the Berwick home meeting

  5. The wind is brutal today down by the coast, not surprised it’s off.
They could have risked it by running it, but with the many temporary structures that are in place (this is not a stadium by any means) and debris flying, who would be liable?

It would be madness to run in these conditions with a much reduced crowd, having plenty of free weekends probably makes the decision easier these days.

Fair point and more eloquently put than the other idiot.

No doubt most Workington fans are connected to the Workington social feeds, unfortunately I am not, other sources suggested Cook had dislocated his thumb.

No need for the name calling, you’ve proved who the real idiot is here when you can’t check simple info.

First you attack the promotion for not having a match report up straight after a meeting (try travelling back from Berwick to Workington and getting up to go to the track at 11am), then about an injury update (which is posted on socials around 3 and a half hours before the meeting)

Then play dumb because you don’t check all the correct channels.

The constant negativity on here is boring, and I’ll probably just give it a miss in future.

Hope this is eloquent enough for you.

p.s the positivity from hundreds of Facebook comments is great to see. Funny that because people post on there with a real name. Coincidence? I think not.

Some of the comments on here are great, others quite obvious mickey taking, others are just damn oblivious.

Nothing on their official website, not even a match report from last night, that’s poor especially as the gate opens at 1pm for the second leg

Stupid comment, the preview for the whole weekend was put on there on Wednesday.

And all the information constantly updated on Social Media, probably one of the best out there for a small one man band kinda thing.

Soz batch deffo got it the txtter from berwick even put it on updates but had to change it !

Yeah it was very clear from the back straight, but I bet it’s hard from that ref’s box on the strange angle they have.

Was surprised at how fast Vissing was, he was the fastest rider on show.

As for the others, especially Tate and Antti they were just trying to work out the track and when to shut off the throttle. The riders come into the bends so fast because of the long straights

I’ve not been to Berwick for years, but can’t remember the track being that bumpy and awkward to ride.

Berwick guys are clearly dialled into the lines on it, fair play and should have an unbeaten season at home. I think it’s good for speedway when sides are strong at home.

Our guys will put on a good show tomorrow, hopefully Antti and Cookie they’ve came away unscathed after their falls. Craig hit the fence really hard

They can always update if there happened to be injuries.

Believe it or not but not everyone uses social media.

There will be thousands more views on their Facebook page then the website gets. You don't have to use or be 'on' Social media to see the posts, it amazes me how many people don't get this.

It's just a web address like the official webpage is - https://www.facebook.com/scunnyspeedway

All the info you'll ever want will be on there :t:

No I’m not talking about them needing enough riders if they were riding Saturday. Mark Phillips has stated that the league have given them a deadline of today to declare a full team to be accepted into the league

The only deadline is that the clubs have to log their team on the SCB portal 3 days before a meeting, hence him mentioning Wednesday. This is what he meant

Had a look at this,   for info the associated text says that it is not supported by smart TV's just computers and mobiles.

Yeah it'll most likely work on most TV's or Fire stick through the Internet app, just isn't supported.

So if you did have any issues, they would wash their hands of it and say to use a computer/mobile instead
