Averages of both Max and Connor are too high to fit into the Brummies line up, even with the UK reduction.

Ryan555 I stand corrected. I was basing my comment on the averages shown in the 2023 Signings topic, which states the 2.5% reductions had been applied in the team listings. This was not the case for Lambert and Mountain. Added a comment to the topic so the correct averages can be applied. Looks like a new calculator is not needed for Xmas after all.

Would agree with that, as when I have seen Alfie ride PB he has always shown a real liking for the track. The 2023 Brummies look like a team built to be strong at home, which after last year's disappointing home defeats is not surprising. Could struggle to win big away, but might pick up the odd point or two and strong home results will obviously help to ensure a few of the bonus points end up with the Brummies. At the moment look like a mid-table team.

The other threads are probably wrong or do not include the reduction for Brit riders.

The first three riders signed up is a good start and gives the fans some continuity from last season. Someone mentioned Alfie Bowtell as another possible and I would like to see him in the team, as I recall seeing him round PB and thinking he has a liking for the track. Fingers crossed there is some truth in what the other poster suggests. Not keen on Nick Morris, as his average makes the team too reliant on one rider and, as has been pointed out previously, I don't remember him having an outstanding meeting at PB. Bomber has also been suggested, which I would not be entirely against, as he is one of British Speedway's great entertainers, but I would prefer to see someone different at PB this year. In an "ideal world" I would like to see Tom Brennan and Dan Thompson as the next two on the list. Both young Brits with masses of promise and talent. I could see both of them being capable of upping their averages next year. On the downside, I am sure they are in great demand to ride for other teams, so maybe we might struggle to make them a good enough offer. Finally, would love to see Danny King back in the red B. Poole will need to let some heat leaders go, so if Danny is available to join the Brummies for a season, he would bring loads of experience to the side and make the ideal captain. Personally, I would love to see him back, as I have missed his board scrapping rides round the outside of the track. Therefore, my ideal team would have been Justin Sedgmen 7.04 Stefan Nielsen 4.82 Danny King 8.06 Dan Thompson 5.09 Tom Brennan 6.71 Alfie Bowtell 4.28 James Pearson 4.00 I think, if I've got the averages right (with the Brit reductions), that team would total 40 points.

I believe the event that occurred at the Birmingham v Berwick match was not a unique event! I have been following speedway for over 50 years and I seem to recall that at least two of the matches I have attended over those years were cancelled due to a lack of medical cover / an ambulance not being available, after a rider / riders had been taken to hospital. In fact, I think one of those matches was a Birmingham home match, but probably a good few years ago. Perhaps someone with better records than mine can recall when. As the saying goes, "Sometimes s?@t just happens!" At least its good to see the new management team have moved quickly to put the situation right.

Not all that absurd, plenty of cases in football where a new player signs plays a.match or two and then goes missing for something like a month for the Africa Cup of Nations. However, the teams can normally call on an adequate replacement, unlike being unnecessarily penalised as in speedway. Liverpool don't have to call up a player from their under 16 squad. Everyone lost tonight, but the sport of speedway was the biggest loser.

After the massive struggles and heaps of abuse LR and the owners have had to endure to put together an anywhere near competitive team, I am sure they can live with a little embarrassment. If that's what it takes to get through the season and give the fans some exciting racing, then so be it. Instead of continuing to berate and snipe some people need to back off. Let's wait and see how the season pans out. I get the impression some on this forum would be desperately disappointed if things turns out well.

As a long-time Brummies fan, I have to admit this never-ending delay in hearing ANY news on the remaining three riders is totally frustrating. I appreciate the new management team came to the party late, in respects of putting a team together, but with only two weeks to go to P&P there MUST be some morsel of news for the long suffering fans. Whilst we are waiting on the revelation of the mystery fourth rider due to processing of his paperwork, which obviously implies he is not a British rider (so not Adam Ellis), where are we with signing the last two riders. Does LR have some firm names in the frame or is he still in discussions. For god's sake give us some tiny scrap of news to cling to in the hope the Brummies may have a team come the start of the season, let alone a half-decent one.

If LR knows the riders he wants, why not give the fans a name or two? It's not like another promoter is going to jump in and snap them up.

Oooops! My mistake, I meant, as with Ellis, Jorgensen doesn't appear to have signed for a team in Sweden. Thanks for picking up on my error.

Adam Ellis Thomas Jorgensen Danny Gaapmaier/ Josh Bates I believe that would fit what's left. There's always options out there. As with Ellis, I can't see Jorgensen signed to any team in Denmark. Obviously depends on what cash is available. It was implied the owners would be prepared to put in extra this year, but it would need to be self-financing going forward.

As a Brummies supporter I must admit this endless waiting is starting to get to me. I know LR says he has a plan and the supporters shouldn't panic, but its not like we are just waiting on news about a final rider to complete the team; we need three good or fairly decent riders! I must admit to being increasingly concerned about the lack of news and hope something will be released soon, if only about one of the riders. At the I'm just clinging to the belief the new investors in the club wouldn't be spending a shed load of money on substantial track improvements without a strong belief a decent team can be put together to attract the paying public.

I imagine Bewley and Kurtz will not be options as they will be riding in the Polish league. Anyway, their averages would be too high.

I was wondering whether Hans Andersen might be a possibility to fill the final place in the Brummies line up. I don't know what other commitments Hans has for 2021, but with Bjarne Pedersen being in the Peterboro and Plymouth teams, Hans must be a good option.

Looking more and more likely to me our seventh man will be Ben Barker. His average fits, he rides PB well, was always worth watching when he rode for us last time and frankly I can't see him fitting in anywhere else (a part from Newcastle) with the rider signings made so far. Some on here have mentioned that he 'comes with baggage', but I don't know what that means.
