    Cardiff Grand Prix

I really enjoyed the meeting, My Polish wife looked very dispondant when Gollob bike broke down, Personally I love the day out in Cardiff the colour, noise and supporters waving their flags prior to the meeting mingling in town is incredible. The only downside I thought the PA system wasnt clear especially in the upper tier and I think the stewards seem not to act on some idiots there unlike the football when even if you stand up they home in on you !!! overall though what a tremendous day out !! I managed to make a little video My link and managed to capture the Grid girls,!! my basic polish skills managed to get me a nice photo he he !! ps I think the wife was shopping at this stage !! lol
  4. I must admit I thought the crowd was up on recent years, the main stand was packed all 3 tiers as was the stand behind the first bend. The differance for me I thought there were far more fans in the upper tier down the back straight
  5. I heard the gridgirls may be on display ahem !! at the speedway fan zone between 11.ooam and 3.00pm !!
  6. Being based in Cardiff I think I saw in the South Wales Echo last week the council have banned the vuvuzelas at the Millenium, Cardiff City Stadium and the Glamorgan Cricket !!!
  7. As long as you get a non-flammable type you will be fine, the tickets state flammable are banned and that non flammable ones from the millenium stadium will be fine, it doesnt actually state YOU MUST BUY A MILLENIUM SOLD AIR HORN, so the last few years stewards have stopped me i point out its non flammable and they say no problem and have let me take them in !!
  8. great stuff !! great to see hes still out and about !! many thanks
  9. Just wondering if anyone knows Freddie, I wondered if has been able to attend one of the grand prix events in Cardiff during the last 10 years, Wales former world champions in any sport are limited and I wondered if he had been able to 'come home' and witness the cardiff grand prix !! many thanks

    Cardiff Grand Prix

Greetings to everyone !! As a newport wasps fans I guess the British grand prix is on my doorstep and as we all know what an atmosphere will be generated on Saturday. I have got into speedway the last 10 years through my Polish wife and she will also be in attendance again. Last year the city centre resemebled a building site but I am pleased to say that the city centre now is looking splendid. There is one of europe's largest indoor shopping centres now open and the building work has long gone. Theres a John lewis and more restuarant and bars !! So cant wait to get out and about and enjoy the atmosphere around the city centre !!! Its in a way the spiritual home now of Uk speedway and I think compared to Wembley you cant beat the fact its in the centre and the colour and passion prior to the meeting with fans from across the world cant be beaten. For those down for the weekend, Glamorgan have a 20/20 evening game starting at 6.15 on Friday night the ground is a 17,000 situated in the park next to the Cardiff Castle so hit the booze early and if you fancy dress up its a cowboy theme night !!!! The cardiff castle is always open to tourists and well worth a tour, And of course Cardiff Bay is now superb and great on the Friday night and ideal to relax by the seafront. The millenium stadium is around a 5min walk from the main train station, and there are two large weatherspoon pubs great for cheap booze and food, The gatekeeper opposite the stadium and the prince of wales around the corner from the central train station. There is also a 3rd weatherspoons called central bar which is at the end end of Queen street and is usually less busy so ideal for food. They also operatre a boat trip now from Cardiff Bay into the city centre for thoose drinking in that area and fancy something different other than a taxi !! So get your flags and air horns to the ready its gonna be another superb weekend !! Who am i supporting ? well if i say anyone other than gollob i think my wife will slap me he he !!!! Ps there has been a keen history of speedway in Wales a fact often overlooked, Newport wasps are currently flying the flag and of course several clubs have come and gone including a team who once operated in Cardiff itself. And Freddie Williams a Welshman actually won the championship equivalent twice in the 1950's !!!! So there we go Croeso i Caerdydd welcome to Cardiff and I hope everyone has a superb day !!
