John Davis In This Weeks Star

I haven’t read the whole of this topic but I have read all of page 1 bit of page 2. Over the years speedway has actually got cheaper. I had ago at speedway more than 22 years ago. When I first started out prices on a regular basis would change. One week a spark plug would cost £35 the next week it had gone up to £50. My dad kept all the paper work on my speedway and I didn’t do it for that long due to money. The price of getting started without parts was around £1200 I had to save if I remember right. Now you can still buy good 2nd hand equipment and get started for around £1500. So it has not gone up that much over the years. I really don’t know why people would go out and pay £4000 for all the equipment for a child and think that they are going to be good. I think they need to start at grass roots and buy 2nd hand speedway and maybe 2nd hand grasstrack. They would learn a lot and like some of the young guns at grasstrack at present. Some people talk about uprights and I am back on the saddle racing again on grass but on an upright. If you look at the times of an upright is not much slower than a laydown and the maintenance cost is a lot less. If speedway is to get back on track with other European countries then think again. We will never be back up there like it used to be. I don’t think it is to do with money. I t has to do with lots of things. People watch their money a bit more, less tracks so people have further to travel and you have to promote the sport, and getting people interested. I know in Poland that they have youth scheme where the family does not buy the equipment to begin with, and if the club thinks the child has skill then they take them under their wings and train them up. Its then when they have to start buying the equipment. Maybe one day speedway will get back on top in the UK.

    Too Many Clubs?

When I was younger and lived in Kingston, Wimbledon was my nearest stadium. I use to love it. It was great there. There used to be a man that use to go around selling the newspaper and magazine shouting out SPEEDWAY MAIL. The atmosphere was great. It was a night out and affable. I also use to go to Oxford, Reading, and other clubs. Of course I was a youngster and my dad use to take me. I have followed speedway for quite a few years now and still enjoy it, but I have moved over to grasstrack racing. This weekend im racing near Oxford and i was telling my wife about Hans Nielsen and how he use to ride at Oxford. Since I have moved over to grass and been speaking to people at work about it and showing them my bike ect I have few people who attended the meetings. They never new about Speedway and Grasstrack but now they do. Its all about promoting the sport. With going back to speedway they need to look at it more in depth, what about the music they use to have when the riders come out, i still even sing the tune for Wimbledon speedway in my head when getting ready for a meeting. I don’t think they do that anymore. I have shown my wife what speedway use to be like compare to now. By watching the dvd she prefers the late 70s and 80s rather than the sport is now. The other thing is that riders ride in Europe now but years ago it was UK summer time and Down under winter time. Now they ride all over the place. Something’s have come good out of speedway but I don’t think UK will never be the same again like it used to be.

    Speedway Kodi Video Add-on

I downloaded the speedway last night onto my kodi system. Love it well done for creating this. I have thought for quite a while that streaming is the way forward and with this if I miss I meeting like a GP because I am busy then I can watch it on Kodi. I will be looking forward to seeing what else you bring on it. As the UK boys have just won the Grasstrack Workd Cup could there be a Grasstrack section with some meetings on there. Just an idea.

    The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock

Niki has done this to many times. Look at the world cup at the weekend. I say well done Hancock. Niki can ride a bike and when he is good then I take my hat off but taking out Hancock like he did there is no need for it. I don’t like violence but Niki has done this once to often to riders and its about time that he pays. His lucky that Greg just got his hands around him. Some riders would have punched him right in the face. I have seen that happen before at meetings. Im right behind Greg on this. Well done

Poland Cheaper Then Uk For Swc

Here is the price on what the SWC is going to cost me flight 55 fuel 40 SWC 7 SWC 38 Hotel 5 Hotel 40 Extra money 40 Extra money 30 107 148 The extra money is progamme, food etc. So why cant the price for round 1 and 2 be the same not £7 for Poalnd and £38 for UK. sorry i did put the price in a table Poalnd flight 55 SWC 7 Hotel 5 Extra money 40 107 UK fuel 50 SWC 38 Hotel 40 Extra money 30 158
  7. Why is it i live in the Uk but its cheaper for me to go to Poland and watch round 1 than to watch round 2 at Kings Lynn. I know the brits will turn up at Kings Lynn and support then like I will, but it takes the biscuit when i can go abroad and watch it cheaper then in the UK

    New Speedway Engine

Formula E has been really entertaning but i dont think that running a speedway bike on Electric is the answer. GM in speedway world has it really and Jawa is kind of there but not as much as GM. Quite a few years ago Honda brought out an engine. It was cheap to run etc, but GM soon pushed them out. There use to be lots of compaines that built speedway and grasstrack engines that use to last so where are they now. All engines will blow if they are not looked after.

More On The Decline Of British Speedway

I haven’t been on speedway forum for quite a long time and I haven’t been to speedway in this country for quite a while. Its not about being an arm chair person but I have been very lucky by going abroad to watch the speedway and I know in this forum someone wrote we shouldn’t compare UK to Poland, Swenden etc but the reason I have attend more abroad is the atmosphere is totally different the tracks have great racing and its cheaper. I know the price to get abroad is more money but it doent cost much more than going to speedway in this country. For myself to go to speedway in this country it can cost me about £50 for a nights racing. Thats taking in fuel, getting in, programme, car parking. I can attend speedway in lets say CZ or Poland for about £70 - £100. SO for £20 more im better going abroad. I also have been going to grasstrack more in this country and for the price with the racing it’s more enjoyable. Going back to speedway they also need to buy new equipment for track grading. I went to CZ for the golden helmet and the facilities they have at the track was amazing so if they can do it why cant the UK. I hope one day I will attend speedway back in this country.

Concessions Prices For World Cup ?

The goverment about 2 or 3 years ago put this meaning for concession rate. It usually means a discount for one or more of student, elderly, unemployed. Concession means a low income well you cant get any lower than unemployed. It seems that some poeple just dont follow politics.

Concessions Prices For World Cup ?

Just phoned the ticket hotline and they have said Concessions prices. Just OAP/u15. Concessions prices are also for unemployed and students. So if a Student or someone is unemployed they have to pay full price.
  15. Was going to buy the tickets today for the world cup but i cant beleive that there is no Concessions prices. I know that Kings Lynn dont come up with the prices but they should have a say. Will this mean less people will go probably not put its still a shame.
