If Poole cannot afford PL how on earth can Kent, add to that their curfew on the finishing time, with the request to move the curfew to a later time and change of racing days refused during 2019.

That's not going to work in PL is it with TV etc. ?
They have had a few meetings abandoned after delays taking them over the curfew haven't they?
yes

Poole drop to CL

NDL is dire straights
Cannot see Kent moving up, they start their meetings at 6.30 because of the curfew and not being allowed to run late.

Prefer mid April till end of Aug with the playoffs in Sept, 18 weeks of league racing, then playoffs and whatever comp the rest of the league want in Sept

After Ipswich got their win in heat 6 or 9 when he stated that this is the turning point for Ipswich, only for Swindon to get a predictable 5 - 1 in the next heat. Every meeting he gets things wrong, even riders names or sometimes the team riding.

I just hope that who ever shows speedway in 2020 gets rid of Pearson

What a great result but one thing that ruined it was the comments by the muppet Pearson. I really hope that any new tv coverage dumps him.

How many people booked last Monday off work (Wolves v Swindon) and then couldn't go on the Weds? likewise this week, how many booked yesterday (for the biggest meeting of the year) and have to miss out because they can't get out of work the following day? Swindon have managed to fill a coach despite only knowing on Thursday that they'd definitely be in the final and with it being PP yesterday have managed to fill it again for today, how many coaches would they have filled if they'd had fair warning of the fixture? 2? probably 3? likely 4? possibly, the sport is missing out and doing itself no favours, forget all the usual nonsense about yellow helmets and 1 big league, the first stop is just better organisation all round.
Both clubs would get a lot more attend if the final was either a Saturday or Sunday

Early Sunday afternoon would be best but then BT probably control when we run because of football. I am sure if fans can get home by Sunday evening more would visit with families.

Would not be surprised as the forecast tomorrow shows Ipswich being overcast all day

1. If Poole choose Championship, how many other SGBP teams might also drop?
2. If the new TV deal is with Eurosport as rumoured, what level of meetings will they wish to cover live?! ie will it only be SGBP meetings?
When they showed speedway before they showed a few Championship meetings, some of which were as good or even better than the top league.

For me, maybe go the other way and massively market the hell out of the event locally and make the night an advert for your club and the sport..
If there is TV money then reduce the admission costs and deliver a full nights entertainment. .
So many people "used to go" and are still very interested in the sport but now just watch on TV. Therefore do something that makes them sit up and think "Now that might be worth another visit"..
I always think Speedway clubs would benefit massively by having a mindset of treating every match like its their last meeting ever. ie if it was, how they would market it, how they would promote it, etc etc
Sadly, maybe one day it will be their last meeting ever if they don't start promoting themselves better when the TV cameras come to town..?
They have had enough time to do that but the promoters do not seem to do much promoting, the two main things that did work was having a good meeting and reducing the entry price when they were on tv. Just look at some of the dross we have seen on tv this season which would not have encouraged new or fans who have not been for a while to start going.

One answer to that is to announce which meeting is being televised 30 minutes before the meeting starts

Possibly better with more banking??
They are building up the banking on bends 1 and 2 gradually

Not sure if anyone predicted the rain at 7 last night but the forecast tonight still shows light rain from 8pm.

25 minutes ago, False dawn said:I have to say that I was particularly impressed with Luke Becker's performance. He made a nonsense of the track conditions against Troy Batchelor and again later in the meeting. I'm not saying the track condition was not bad. Clearly it was horrible. But the decision was to run the meeting. Be it the crowd, the TV or the lateness in the season, it was going ahead. Congratulations to all those riders who just said to themselves, "Let's go".
The meeting would not have been so late if the teams did not have gaps in the season, anything up to three weeks without a home meeting, during the summer.

Rain is predicted from 8 tonight so if correct will the meeting go ahead or not. With a ten point lead and the Robins showing last night that they can cope with a wet track better than the Wolves riders I can only see us going through to meet Ipswich in the final.

28 minutes ago, lisa-colette said:If he didn't care he would have left it last winter. I think it's only his love for Poole that has kept him here to an extent this year.
He did not because he could not find anybody to pay up what he wanted or the stupid figures, stated by some on here, being the value of Poole Speedway.

1 hour ago, lisa-colette said:But in some sports they do give it to teams that finish top of the table. You know like the small following sport called football
Some have been asking for years to have a League Winners Cup in addition to the Cup for the winners of the playoffs.
The bspa, ie the promoters, come up with the rules etc so it is down to them.
