    Lukas Dryml Retires

Only surprised that you took so long SCB
  2. Well you have given him 3 or 4 meetings after all !!! Speaking to him on Monday he has been struggling with engines and has tried a few things to get it right There was talk about him getting a hatful for Belle Vue at Peterborough last year, the engine he rode at Peterborough on opening night was the very same engine. As I said he will get it right and hopefully tonight is the start
  3. Provided he stay as a German he has a chance of getting into Poole. If he declares himself British he's got no chance
  4. Well 2 complete home meetings appears to the limit to somes patience. He is struggling with machinery but he will get it right, his past record at EoES tells you that Maybe just a tiny bit more patience is required
  5. Which is 7.52 and from the races he has ridden so far this season he is 7.2 I think he should and will do better, but far better to write riders off after 2.5 meetings !!
  6. More than 6 races in so I reckon you can probably kiss any chance of that Difficult one because while directly not Horton's fault (is it ever?) it's ultimately his responsibility and the best way to endear yourself to your public is NOT to take the admission money Look forward to seeing the outcome

    R.i.p. 'nobby'

Felt so sad this morning when Bryn first relayed the news. Nobby was a genuinely wonderful person who do anything for anyone. You will not find anyone with a bad word about him. I am so proud to have known Nobby for so many years Condolences to the family and rest in peace old chap

    Peterborough Panthers 2014

Well I rarely come on here but wondered where on earth I was when I read these two words anywhere remotely close to each other. Of course then I read who posted it so that made me feel somewhat less confused and bewildered

    Coventry Stadium Sold

The strange thing reading the statement is that is says Sandhu has done ALL he can to support the dogs. If he owns the stadium surely if he done ALL he can that would not mean giving no guarantees of a future lease. Does it not mean he has done as much as he is prepared to do without it getting in the way of developing the stadium for huge profit Subtle difference in those two statements

    Peterborough Panthers 2014

All he can do is qualify and he of course has done this once and as 1st reserve for last season There are many so called better riders who have not achieved that................actually his qualification record is probably better than Harris, Nicholls and of course he went further in the qualification process for the 2013 series than the 2013 World Champion While I understand some of the views, I am pleased to see him back at a track where he will score a lot of points. They have mucked him about royally in the past few seasons

    Peterborough Panthers 2014

All I would say on behalf of clubs that are no longer operating is that my opinion is that you should cherish your clubs participation whatever the level but you can be a long time closed

    Save Isle Of Wight

Problem is that Wightlink are struggling I believe having in recent months asked for people to take voluntary redundancy I guess there isn't £20k kicking around

    Mark Frost/atilla Stefani

Seem to remember it was Paul Hurry who brought him over or at least introduced Oxford to him Always felt a bit strange at the time because as Rob said I never understood a word he said

    British Speedway Promoters Meeting

Geeps I am going to agree with Shovvy. This rule will bring money to up and coming riders who would not have had it without this rule. It normally goes to an army of Aussies et al so maybe it's a long term view that has to be taken here

    British Speedway Promoters Meeting

Exactly and remember the likes of Carl Stonehewer, Joe Screen, Sean Wilson and others were nowhere near good enough for the British League at that time but can anyone say riding in the top league did not speed up their progress ? Personally I would love to see the likes of Robert Lambert, Adam Ellis riding in every league they can, all 3 would be great if it aids their development. Instead in the past we have the likes of Lasse Bjerre, Ludvig Lindgreand and most of the Aussies riding in more than one league so let's get the young British riders riding in every league No disrespect but this rule should not see the Jon Armstrong's of this world benefiting, let's hope it's the riders for the future that are the beneficiaries Just one final thought. The promoters are ridiculed for their annual shuffling of the Titanic's deck chairs but give them credit where it's due. Most on here would do nothing and then moan when their club closed because of spiralling costs Most of the money in the sport is being taken by overseas riders who come over, make a great living, run for the hills when meetings like the ELRC or Ben Fund comes around and then a fortune again from bloody testimonials and seemingly that is a model fans are happy with Some riders have testimonials and that is the last we see if them ! Get behind what is for once a positive step

    British Speedway Promoters Meeting

Well I say good. British Speedway cannot afford and Elite League and cannot afford to carry on as it was. OK we can argue whether the approach is right or wrong but SOMETHING had to happen and at least the current crop of promoters have done something about it. If Rick Frost and his millions cannot keep Peterborough going then which club would be next I for once say well done to the promoters for at least recognise change is needed and having a go at making change As for the continual whining its not Elite any more, who cares what its called, change the name, at least some cost cutting means we will have level of high end class racing in the UK in the future

    Team Gb - Middlo Quits!

I would like to see a National Manager that shows some commitment to British riders and support their development. Middleditch as a club manager clearly does nothing to promote Bristish riders at his own club and therefore for me was the wrong bloke for the job. I do not buy the fact that he does not pick the team or at least have some influence over team selection at Poole. After all we keep being told he is the best person at it Maybe he could have encouraged 2nd halfs at Poole, get young riders to benefit from his ability to manage speedway riders If he is not trusted to influence the Poole side then let's not let him loose on the National side Better off without him for, just an opinion though

    Isle Of Wight 2014

The first Oxford one is still owned by Allen Trump as far as I know who was peddling it for sale in the Speedway Star. The second one went to Kings Lynn but not sure they use that fence anymore I guess IOW's problem is that the fence they will need is just so much bigger than many other tracks, say £20k for a fence, I suspect £30k for the IOW due to the number of panels required Nobody would dispute Air Fences are the way forward but this rule will end up closing clubs and I am not sure that was what is was designed to do

Dudley V Isle Of Wight Koc Final 29/10

I agree with the sentiments about 2014, I have only made it over a couple of times a year for the last 2 years but its the only speedway I watch in the UK and it would be a tragedy to lose a great little club like this Fingers crossed

    Bryn Williams - Best Wishes

Good news is that Bryn is leaving hospital tomorrow as he is getting very little rest (given the noise in the hospital) and they have decided that he is better off at home just resting and getting a decent nights sleep So he back at home tomorrow and at least in his own surroundings
  21. Congratulations to Ales who tonight won the Czech Championship, beating Vaclav Milik in a run off after the pair of them finished level on points after the 2 rounds

    Bryn Williams - Best Wishes

We talked about doing it on Saturday while watching the GP Bryn has been great for Oxford Speedway (and many other clubs) and its a difficult time for him being in hospital so far away from home so the least we could do.

    Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News

Seems AFC Wimbledon have a plan to develop Plough Lane for a football stadium in a joint deal with Galliard Homes (yes them again) and build an 111,000 stadium and 600 homes according to this report on the BBC Sport website AFC Wimbledon submit proposal for Plough Lane stadium AFC Wimbledon have submitted a proposal to redevelop Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium to Merton Council, which could see the club return to Plough Lane. The Dons have submitted plans to build an 11,000-capacity stadium which could later be expanded to 20,000. The club also propose building 600 homes in conjunction with Gaillard Homes as part of the redevelopment. The original Wimbledon FC were forced to leave Plough Lane in 1991 following the publication of the Taylor Report. The Taylor Report, published in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster, recommended that all top-flight sides should play in all-seater stadia. The original Wimbledon shared Selhurst Park with Crystal Palace until 2002, when they were given permission to move to Milton Keynes. AFC Wimbledon, who were formed in response to the relocation, have played all their home games at Kingsmeadow and bought the ground from Kingstonian in March 2003. The League Two club say the submission of their plans is "a significant step" in fulfilling its ambition to return to its traditional home in the London Borough of Merton. Merton Council have also received other proposals for the future of the Greyhound Stadium as part of their "call for sites", which asked for suggestions for sites which have the potential for development or redevelopment within the borough. One plan suggests constructing a new greyhound stadium on the land. The Dons estimate construction costs for the first phase of the stadium to be in the region of £16m. Funds would be raised through a combination of the sale of naming rights for the new stadium, a community share issue and funds from enabling development. AFC Wimbledon chief executive Erik Samuelson said: "There is a long way to go before our plans become a reality. "Before we can submit a planning application, there are two significant hurdles that must be overcome. "First, we must win the support of Merton Council for our proposal that the site should be developed as a football stadium. "Second, the designation must be reviewed and approved by an independent inspector. "The review will cover all the sites in Merton and it is likely that the result won't be known until about March 2014."
