If that is the case then why not pull the plug instead of driving yourself further into debt?

I'm not sure that Mr Tolley is accruing debt: from what I've gleaned, he is using personal wealth to meet financial outlay which is needed after income streams. If that's the case, the question of how far he is able and prepared to go with that operating model, I suppose only he will know. I think there's a limited lifespan for the stadium being available anyway so this is possibly a one-off season (or two?). But  I don't read Speedway Star, so there's probably more to it than this?

Why should they want him? He wasn't very impressive last time he was in the team.

When was that? Anyway, I doubt that Vaclav Milik can pull up any trees, always seemed a bit of an imposter to me. 3 or 4 more matches should be enough to establish his normal  points contribution. That's when they may have to turn to Riss.

In this scenario, I don’t think that is actually the case. He is now due to be missing sparring meetings in Poland and other parts of their fitness preparations for the new season. That’s going some just to avoid Perry Barr at all costs in March!

The British premier league looks like it is starting incredibly early, this year. Why is this? Standing around freezing one's nuts off on April evenings is bad enough, but March is far too cold. I suppose it is for the benefit of those riders who want to get some laps in and reach "match sharpness' ready for the Polish and Swedish league seasons, to the advantage of their paymasters in Poland? So there must be several riders, with previous UK experience, available for a few weeks who need to get some competitive laps in to help get into the groove. What about Adam West?

In an ideal world, yes it would look good for a riders pits crew to look smart / wear similar attire if more than one. The simple question is who's going to pay for it?

Plus what happens if a mechanic falls ill & a one-off replacement is needed? Do they have to pay for spare uniforms (in every size) or ban the mechanic if he's not in the correct attire?

Maybe starting off by bringing it in for televised UK matches? BSPL buys a stock (or gets a supply at cost price from a manufacturer that can have its logo on the shirts) and the home club is responsible for giving them out. Then just make anything worn below the waist the responsibility of riders/mechanics but having to conform to the code?

  5. Is it time for anyone working in the pits at a speedway meeting, to be required to conform to a dress code? Black seems to be the best, but instead of heavy metal bands tour t-shirts, plain polo shirts with "pits crew" on the back, plain black trousers or long shorts, and black shoes& socks (NO flip-flops allowed).

If BSPL could find a sponsor whose logo could be added, then it should be able to supply most of this kit (except shoes) free of charge via riders and promoters.

This would help to portray a better image when matches are televised and to new spectators.

If saying that Leicester have a strong top 5, what are your expectations of what Drew should score?

Barring injuries, he should ride at no6 all season & he will ride with his fellow reserve in heat 2 BUT with one of your top 5 in his other three!

Good question. I suppose that putting an extra point on his (unreduced) average would be fine with Leicester and their supporters

  7. I thought Bowen came across as a bit of an outsider in the various group situations he was shown in. Unless he rapidly becomes more prominent, puts himself at risk of Sugar spotting this and trying to flush him out.

Bowen seemed to be the one who made the deal which proved to be the killer blow for his team, yet seemed to get away without it being brought out when the dirt hit the fan. He was lucky.

  8. It's an achievement to have assembled the 1-7 by the end of January after having had to start from scratch.

This type of team is going to depend on a strong collective spirit to develop quickly, and that will be a challenge although the ex-Wolves contingent should bring some cohesion with them. So it will be vital for the three "newcomers" to buy-in and not just regard this an an additional commitment in their diaries. Hopefully the Brum management have some possible replacements in case it doesn't work out.

The team manager in this sort of situation is a vital cog with people management skills one of a large set of essential ones. I hope Mr Ermolenko and others are up to the task.

The role of LUCK is also going to be amplified in this scenario, including how it is handled when and if the luck is of the negative type.

So I wish lots of good luck to Birmingham. I've a feeling you'll need some.

  9. No pressure, but if Drew Kemp can step things up, Leicester will be strong contenders. I think that Becker could turn out to be the signing that gives the top 5 another genuine heats 13&15 performer. Hope I am proved wrong, but Masters might be beyond his best years now.

Agreed, would definitely have Iversen at two

Wouldn't Iversen be best deployed in a position that gives him more of his rides later in a match, when the track is more likely to have gone slick inside and can get his back wheel onto the dirt? But problem with that, could be that KL has several riders with similar needs!

the signings are ok, one will be more inconsistent than the other i think but they are both incredibly capable riders

So, on the basis of the inconsistent one obviously being A. Laguta, the other would have to be B. Zmarzlik.

Dan rode with metal plates/pins in his leg causing him pain all season, these have now been removed. 2024 could well be the season we see the real Dan Bewley. As for his gating I do agree with you about this issue, having said that if he can match or better J Holders gating, a world title is within his reach.

Will the removal of metal from his body reduce the effects of the starting gate magnets, and enable him to make faster starts?
