  1. Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane, ain't got time to take a fast train........ Your talking fifty odd thousand fans there though. All we need is a lollipop man to get the two old guys and their dugs across the road after the meeting.
  2. He certainly did and Aaron got a good round of applause from us when he walked the track pre match. Losing him was a mortal blow for you guys. Its not the first time this year a team has turned up at Armadale blighted by injury. A full strength Glasgow would have been a different story, but that's the way it goes sometimes. You're in with a chance, then Lady Luck boots you in the Dennis Laws. Let's hope we can all do it again next year.
  3. More reruns than Wheeler Dealers and it's feckin' freezing. I've never been so bored since I got dragged along to see The Sound of Music. Did I mention that it's freezing?
  4. It must be the biggest Speedway weekend ever for both sets of fans. Who'd have thought it, the two biggest teams in Scotland contesting the final. Wait a minute...........
  5. That was epic. Had to go for a lie down when I got home. I wasn't sure Glasgow could pull it of, but they did what Somerset did to us last week, kept it close, held their nerve and edged it. How good was Summers? Not just his scoring, I could see him running about the pits between races, he never stopped. He's on a mission this year. A real captain, but everyone chipped in. Hard on Somerset to get so close, but that's the way it goes sometimes. They gave it their best shot. I've a feeling there will be more twists and turns before this is decided. Roll on the weekend.
  6. Good result for Glasgow. We'll be through on Sunday as we don't do Peterborough for health and safety reasons. I've no problem cheering on the auld enemy. I'm just grateful to be into October and still involved and I'm sure Glasgow fans feel the same. We'd rather give them our cash.
  7. Spot on. A match winning decision. A cup winning decision.
  8. Well done Somerset. Didn't think eight points was enough, but they came here, kept it close and got the result. Have a few and enjoy your night.
  9. I never mentioned another home defeat, nor did I criticise Berwick riders. I just can't believe anyone who was there thinks Cooks remarks have any relevance, when some of the antics going on during some races, which was sometimes scary, put two Berwick riders out the meeting and most likely cost them points. But never mind all that, look at what Cooks saying on Facesitter. If you weren't there, you won't know what I'm talking about. Turning right on someone on the fastest part of one of the fastest tracks in the country is something I don't want to see again. And that was just the half of it.
  10. Cook didn't fence anyone, bring anyone down or cause any injuries. A bad loser? He was on the winning side, only lost one race and lopped a chunk off the track record, but he moans about the track, which he always does and the flaming torches and pitchforks are out. If I were a Berwick fan, Cook would be the least of my worries right now. I understand the need to lash out, but for christs sake do it in the right direction. I saw a few things in that meeting I never want to see again and none of them involved Craig Cook.
  11. The start was delayed, but Richard was in touch and his eta was such that they couldn't wait that long. There is a curfew at Armadale. Both managements were consulted, but ultimately the decision lies with the ref. I spent two hours stuck on the City Bypass once and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. #idontknowwhatimtalkingaboutbutimgoingtosayitanyway.
  12. Been raining all morning and is drizzle now, but is supposed to clear around 4. If that's the case, it should be OK. If the sun gets through, the track will dry quickly. Here's hoping.
  13. 12 points from r/r!! Wasn't expecting that.
  14. Pissing with rain and the sky's as black as a prozzys heart here. Looks like the weather gods have been duped into thinking the meeting was tonight.

    Berwick Statement

I've run my own company for almost thirty years, mostly good times, some bad and a few desperate. During bad times, the rule is to cut costs. That's a no brainer, but as any business owner knows, you don't compromise your product. Applied to Speedway, if people aren't flocking to watch Speedway now, are they going to come in droves to watch lesser riders on poorer equipment, which is what will happen if riders money is cut. Many riders will go elsewhere, or pack in Speedway altogether if they can't make ends meet. Riders don't make fortunes. I don't know any wealthy Speedway riders. Some may remember the interview with Jason Crumps wife a few years ago when she said the amount of money he'd made during his career, put against the entertainment he'd provided, the injuries he'd sustained and risks he'd taken, was laughable. Or words to that effect. How often have we seen teams struggling for money, build a team on a lower budget? The fans complain, the team gets gubbed every week, crowds dwindle. It's a downward spiral and given that speedway is already in a tailspin, it's the last thing we need. The riders are the product, they risk life and limb every time they take to the track for our entertainment. Whatever drives them to do it, it certainly isn't money. Cut their money and were in a race to the bottom. I don't have the answer to Speedways problems and I suspect no one else does either. Clubs need to get closer to supporters, but not too close. No club owner who's shovelling his money into a bottomless pit is going to let supporters tell him what to do.
