There should be no doubt Morley was the best rider and deserved the win. As said, in the final heat there didn't seem to be more than 2 bike lengths between them with Morley taking Ellis preferred outside line virtually all race then switching to hug the inside line on the last bend to block Ellis inside move, brilliant race from both of them. Roll on the nlrc AT Rye House next year I say.

Silver Ski Champs ..kent Mon 14th Sept 6-30pm
flipper11 replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Shanes is going nowhere, the Kent supporters wont let him! Besides, if he did go IOW would be far more appealing to him than Eastbourne. -
Don't think Shanes is riding which is a shame. For me the top 3: Morley Branford Ellis
-
Strange Spiller is riding, I thought Dugard had told Kennett that Len Silver didn't want him to ride in the 4TT.

Ellis is not British either! Same as BWD. Great to see both in the NL tho & im looking forward to seeing BWD at Kent on Monday, pitty Adam isn't there! -
Eastbourne can win meetings for sure but Saturday showed what happens without their massive home track advantage, they were rubbish. As for moving from Kent to Eastbourne I cant think of anything worse. Of course I meant sunday!

Morley more beatable than Branford at Rye, Wrong! Ben has beaten Branford 4 times in 2 matches Branford has won 2.
-
I took the averages from all the clubs web sites of all matches ridden to 26th May. ie BWD ridden 9 matches average 10.25, Ben Morley ridden 8 matches average 11.05. Andrews 6 matches average 8.15, Danny Ayres 7 matches average 8.75 etc. This gives more of an idea of the riders form for the season so far. Danny and Bens league average are still the same as they started the season as they have not done enough league meetings for a new one. If you took Bens league average so far he is on 10.86 so above BWD. So far as to say im rooting for Kent n hoping for a dry well prepared track.

Looking at the Stats for all meetings up to end of may. Kent have the best rider in the league Ben Morley, and the best top four, Morley, Ayres, Shanes and Baseby. This has got to make them one of the favourites.

Kent reserves & No2 have to start to score points if Kent are to win anywhere, At home to Birmingham I think they only managed to beat an apposing rider 3 times in 12 rides between them, 1 of them was when Coles exhaust fell off & he was excluded, so that's 2 points off the opposition in 12 rides at home! Have to say this is made up for by the current form of the top 4 (apart from Monday against Birmingham), so I suppose cant have everything. I would go for a narrow win against the Raiders.

James Shanes was great entertainment putting his grasstrack skills to good use around the air fence, I don't want to spoil a good thing but someone ought to tell him its easier not to let the other riders have a 5 bike length head start!! Looking forward to Monday and a tight kent win.

Well im off to Lakeside instead now, watching Mr Boxall sounds a lot more appealing than watching us get a stuffing at Eastbourne.
-
Yes I think it is a bad thing. This would have been a very good competitive meeting and I was really looking forward to it, but with R/R for Kent No 1 it will be totally 1 sided and for sure not worth travelling to see.
-
Why R/R for Ben I thought he was riding?

Be interesting to see how the current world grasstrack champion gets on on the shale in the premier league or will he be another grass/longtrack specialist.

Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?
flipper11 replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Although I am a southerner it has to be Joe Owen, what a rider. -
Got to have Ayres back next year, the guy is so popular. I would have thought uncle Len would have given him a team place at Kent already. Simon Lambert is a perfect captain & should be back at No 1 again. Ben Morley, I think Kent fans would be very disappointed if Ben was moved to Rye or Lakeside, what a great top 2 they would be. Because of his high average i Cant see a team place for Benji (if Ben & Simon included), maybe he is Rye bound? Aaron Baseby is a good solid rider & should return. Be great to see Jack Kingston back,(dream on), not sure if Mason has retired? would prefer to see a more all round scorer in his place anyway. Cant wait for the new season.

Nlrc

Just looked at the line up for the NLRC & seems fair to me, I think its right there should be at least 1 rider from each club, Having the possibility of 4 riders from clubs like Kent/Cradley & none from clubs like Scunthorpe/Buxton does not seem fair to me. Being held on a neutral track (Rye) is good too. Josh Bates has a wild card which as British U21 champ is a good idea but I don't see why Max Clegg gets a wild card. -
Well done to Kent, great result. Hope Simon is available for the play offs.

In reference to the management not using our No 8 Sheppard. I for one would not have been happy paying good money to watch him race Mr Atkin or Carr instead of one of our heat leaders. Im bored. Mondays are not the same without a home meeting.

You say its raining heavy now, where are you? -
£12 to get in sounds fair to me. Speedway in the evening, shopping in the afternoon, that's both me and the misses happy! Come on the Kings.

Kent Laurels 21st July 2014
flipper11 replied to Kent Whistle Gang's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
1. Steve Boxall 2. Simon Lambert 3. Luke Bowen 4. Ben Hopwood -
I think it would be good to build the team around Simon next season, but ben should be included as well to form a strong top 2. Although he has had a dip in form lately he has made progress since last season and will do next. Even our world champion has had a dip in form and has come back stronger. Agree, David's away form hampers the team.

Hi. There is a coach being organised to Mildenhall on 6th July. You need to speak to Ria, she is one of the Morley nutters! not sure where she will be standing at the next home meeting. Hope this is of some help, see you on the coach.
