    SGP venues for 2024

So, you got your holiday ticket booked for Donji Kraljevec??? Good luck in getting a room booked in the local village. And the racing is not so “hot” either.

Manchester City centre must be what, 1.5 mile away from NSS, and it’s as much a vibrant city centre as any cities in Poland. But you would rather have Brit fans travel 400 mile or more to a city centre elsewhere. British speedway down in the dumps and you don’t want it to have a world class event. I find that amazing. You know very well the speedway racing would be amazing at NSS. Some speedway GP tracks are in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of forest even. The racing can be lousy at some but others produce amazing racing and true supporters flock there because……. it’s speedway racing at its best. When professional speedway is dead in the UK you will be wishing people with an attitude like yours would have supported the fact a UK speedway track is deemed worthy of of top class meeting that encompasses the worlds top speedway riders.

GB v. Poland at West Ham. July 18 1967

I agree, some good riders in the eastern block who could have been serious contenders for world championship 1-2-3 if they could have got more racing in the UK Havimg said that, Plechanov, and to a slightly lesser extent Samarodov seemed to get the knack of Wembley. There would probably have been nothing like Wembley track behind the iron curtain.

    Craig Cook?

    Well said.

    Drugs - Just Say No!

but that penalises the fans. Or perhaps you thinking there is so few of them who would care.

    Bob Duckworth RIP

That's sad to hear. Was only thinking of him the other day. Heck of a nice man and a good steady rider. When he rode for Belle Vue he lived in Partington, same village where the Collins/Morton clan was from (and they were then active riding around the Collins farm). My dad had a railway arch as a garage, plenty room for dads car plus Bob's speedway bike and gear. It would be 1963 when Bob was invited to present trophies at the Manchester Gran Prix cycle speedway championship at the Carrs Wood, Gately track. He asked Mum, Dad and myself along. That was my introduction to cycle speedway, starting as a rider in the Manchester winter league that same year. Sad news indeed, but memories are priceless.

    World Superbikes

Yep, MotoGP provided brilliant racing again. Binder really took the race to Martin throughout the race, with Bagnia seriously joining in a few laps from the end. Amazing battle. And Alex Marquez joining the party too, holding 3rd place until he slipped off. I wonder if Martin will be in the factory team next year.

    World Superbikes

From reading brief report on yesterday MotoGP that was exciting too, Bagnia, Martin and Binder having a ding dong. Highlights on ITV4 tonight 8pm, channel 120 on my sky box.

    World Superbikes

I agree, that final race of the season was really good. Shame Rea slipped off, he so wanted a win on his last ride for Kawasaki. So did Toprak, last ride on a Yamaha, but he just took a little too much on that last bend and gave it to Bautista. Mind you, Bautista didn’t really to race that hard, he won the world championship on Saturday, so well done to him pushing all the way.

    Sheffield Tigers 2024

Ok, I now seen the race, twice. For me, all four back. If the ref had to see one go I would have said Holder.

Anyone know if this heat is available on you tube or anywhere?

Who COULD Have Been a Major Force in World Speedway?

I like Jan Kolodzeij style, about the right size for a speedway rider too. He is fast, a good gater, but too cautious. Bit like Artem Laguta and to a lesser extent, Leon Madsen.

    R.I.P. John Hyam/Gustix/Speedyguy/Jack Keen

Sad to hear this. Certainly was a caracter.

It would be interesting to know what RogerM22 considers to be a Chris Holders fluke.

No one flukes a world title……. not in modern GP times anyway.

Sad to loose another stalwart from years gone by. Condolences to his family.

    Moto Gp, 2 And 3

If I was Aleix I would stick with Aprilia. It’s a winning machine IMO. If he goes to Honda it would be money that’s the attraction. If MM can’t tame the Honda machine everyone else is in trouble.

    Moto Gp, 2 And 3

I feel a bit sad what’s going on in motoGP these days.Seems fairness and in some cases contracts are being broken and no one seems to care. Last year, Remy Gardener and Darren Binder were booted out. Both didn’t do too bad as rookies. Don’t know if contracts then were broken but this year. Pol Espargaro gets kicked out of his ride for 2024, Di Giantonio is getting the boot to find space for MM. And Acosta is in from Moto2

Who COULD Have Been a Major Force in World Speedway?

But he was 5 times world long track champion, that may have been the problem. Not all could do both speedway and long track at the very top level. Seems like Simon Wigg was one of them. Get hold of his book if you can, a very good read.

    SGP wild cards 2024

So, he needs more experience. When he gates he has cracked it. Coming from behind he relies on speed, which is fine. But then you get up against someone going at the same speed or maybe a bit less and you need track craft, that you got to gain through……. Experience. When Drabik and Smektala ruled in the under 21 championship for a few years I noticed Polish speedway put them up front, they seem a bit more subdued with Cierniak…. maybe for a reason.

    SGP wild cards 2024

My take on Cierniak, he is fast but lacking experience of racing. Of course that will develop over the next few years. Like wise the other young names I listed. Time will tell who makes GP standard, probably not all in that list, and maybe some that do not look too promising today may in fact make it to the top. We will all have to wait to see how it pans out, but I don’t think today is too much different to previous periods of time.

    SGP wild cards 2024

The others….. Jan Kvech, Mads Hansen, Ben Basso, Hellstrom-Bangs, Kowalski, Ratajczak, Rew, Dreir, Pollested, Gran, Henriksson, Connor Bailey, Rowe, Blodorn, Hjerrid, Becker, Lindsey. And not all potential stars are listed, some will develop at a different rate. Whose to say half of that lot won’t get to Gp standard, so there is plenty of scope If you remember Vaculik burst on the GP scene with a first outing GP win. Found it tough so about the time Emil got injured Vaculik withdrew from GPs to “mature” as a rider, he said. He would have been about 26 when he came back to the GPs. Doyle was mature when he made it to the GPs. So for some, 26 is not past it. The future looks bright.

    SGP wild cards 2024

Really, seriously. So you don’t rate Bewley, Holder, Lambert, Kubera, Cerniak. And of course Drabik and Smektala still have time to fulfil their potential, then we have the likes of Gusts and others in the 19-22 year old class, did you not see Pederson at Vojens…..no18 in the start list performing more than adequately for a 16/17 year old in a senior GP. The future looks really good to me. If you can’t see the potential then perhaps you looking at the wrong sport……try netball or something.

    SGP wild cards 2024

Just reading the news about it. It states about a dozen national associations, including the English Football Association, publicly expressed their opposition to playing against Russia if drawn against them at either the men’s competition in Cyprus or the women’s in Sweden next year.

    SGP wild cards 2024

Pretty sure it was Medinski. Shut the door on Emil on the straight, Emil took a tumble then was run over by another rider. Watched a replay just about a week ago. Really nasty, was career threatening it was said, but he come back.
