Chocolate has a habit of melting in Tenerife
  2. This is what the BSPL promoters should have put their £1,000 a head into instead of going on a holiday jolly to Tenerife.

Does that even make any sense. That's like saying to you "How did Coventry allow themselves to be outnumbered by the rest of the UK"!! If there are a minority of business-like professionals then what the amateur majority vote for is nothing to do with them. It's just a sad reflection on why the sport has declined so much, they haven't a clue. And going on a holiday jolly just confirms it. Totally inappropriate.

I said the more professional business-like promoters voiced that this holiday jolly to Tenerife is totally unnecessary. Obviously they were in the minority and the amateur majority voted for it. Its Mickey Mouse run by amateurs that haven't a clue how to conduct themselves. Which promoters I put into each group - can you repeat that in English?

The more professional business-like promoters voiced that this holiday jolly to Tenerife is totally unnecessary. If they want a holiday then fine but do so with their wife or family privately same as everyone else.

Is there a new track in Tenerife?

Not at all. If they want to go on a holiday then fine. But not in the name of speedway and under the auspices of the BSPL. Goes against every principle, it stinks to high heaven. It's ridiculous and totally unnecessary. The old BSPA were shamed into abandoning the practice years ago, the principle hasn't changed, it still stinks.

So what's Tenerife got to do with speedway? A couple of new tracks opening in Tenerife? You will know of course that it is more expensive in the Canaries in November than in the summer? At reportedly a thousand quid per head for 3 days it aint cheap, equates to a couple of grand per head per week, cheap as gold plated caviar. If you want to save speedway as you say, put the money into improved facilities or reducing admissions prices.

    Promoters Conference

No need to stay in any hotel, practically everything has already been discussed and agreed for 2024, very little left to discuss at all, some promoters voiced that a short 1 hour meeting in Rugby was all needed at most. And contrary to the narrative no it aint cheap to fly out to the Canaries and the accommodation and the food and drink is expensive, been enough times to know that's the way it really is. Just no need for it If they want to have a holiday then fine but not in the name of speedway and under the auspices of the BSPL.

Doesn't matter, it's in the name of speedway under the auspices of the BSPL. The money spent could and should be used to reduce admission prices or improve facilities. The old BSPA were lambasted years ago for the practice of annual jollies abroad and they stopped that nonsense. And some promoters were against it this time around so not sure whose idea it was. It's an affront, goes against every principle. Absolutely disgusting.

Doubt it. That's how they want to skew it. Any time I've been to the Canaries it aint cheap. In principle it stinks to high heaven. Absolute disgrace. Tracks folding all over the place, the sport is strapped for cash, there's a cost of living crisis, they could have a meeting in Rugby and no need for any accommodation or extravagant expense or have a zoom meeting. As I understand it most of the decisions have already been made for 2024, this is just a jolly. They should be putting the money into facilities or reducing admission prices, not going on grandiose trips abroad. If they want to have a holiday then pay for it privately, not under the auspices of speedway.

    Poole 2024

Exactly. Or maybe there's a new track there for 2024?
  13. My take on it is that the Team Manager isn't allowed to have full authority which is why Stewart Dickson moved out as he was being overruled by Peter. That's my guess but seems to fit and then bringing someone else in who would be a yes man. I could be wrong but that's my impression when you see how hands on Peter is.
  14. I'm puzzled about the comment saying Richard Lawson being "one of the most disliked riders", and also not being happy after heat 13. Think there'd be something wrong if he was happy, just shows he wants to win, can't see anything wrong with that. Richard was also sporting in his comments when interviewed mid-match saying Glasgow a good team etc. Think I saw somewhere a while ago that Richard wants to be recognised for his own efforts and in his own right rather than the Son of God tag, but he's more than established himself as a top rider in the sport and I'd be more than happy to see him back at Glasgow. As any team would, and look at the number of guest bookings he gets, hardly a sign of a disliked rider. Negative comments re Mr Sovlar, to be fair seems to me he's been magnanimous in congratulating the Tigers, fair play to him. As have other Pirates supporters. Think where I'd maybe ever so slightly disagree with Mr Shovlar is regarding Tarasenko. Granted replacing Nowak with Tarasenko was an improvement. But, to quote an earlier post by SharpenRake: "From the BSPL web site, Marcin Nowak's Rolling Average from 14 meetings was 7.16. His real average (not Green Sheet) based on his 10 meetings this year was 6.70. His home average was 6.30 and his away average was 7.25." So still a decent rider and one that was steadily improving. Even so Tarasenko was an improvement in scoring but don't think it was enough to absolutely guarantee etc or that there was then only one team that would win. After all, Poole are a very strong team and did finish top of the league. As with a lot of things the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, that whereas before the Tigers had an edge but at times not quite, signing Tarasenko gave the Tigers a more consistent edge. So yeah it gave the Tigers something of an edge rather than absolutely guarantee the title. Think we can all agree it was a help! Before I forget, best of luck to Poole in the KOC final.
  15. To be fair think Roynon's comment was part of his answer to Ian's question about Poole rather an opinion about Glasgow, just unfortunate timing. Could be wrong but from memory think that's all it was.
  16. Hope its a good match. Best of luck everybody.
  17. I can't hand out any more likes as apparently I've used them up so had to just reply instead. Bit of a mix up the other night, for years I've always seen it as being one reserve can take any ride so could take 2 r/r, but diff rule for the playoff final for TS, then also read somebody else's post on here about the r/r being both reserves and joined them up or read it wrong. Anyway they've increased the meds so ok now lol. Is it Tuesday today.
  18. Better get ready to salute, lol. I've always thought exactly as everybody saying. But recently somebody said the rule now different, be careful what you read on forums! Anyway they've stepped up the medication. Have the visitors been?
  19. Exactly what I thought. It was late and time for kip early start so I just had to sign off. I'd always thought it was exactly as others were saying but had quoted somebody else that assured this was now the current rule. But yeah I thought exactly as you've said there.
  20. He certainly did. Obviously you should've gone to Specsavers! Thompson totally deserved to be excluded.
  21. ...Is it fish today? Have the visitors been?
