  1. You'd think Ellis was a Championship reserve who somehow fluked his title last year reading some of the comments on here. Okay so he's not been quite as good as last season but he's still got the 3rd highest average amongst British riders in the Premiership and qualified for the European Championship. And maybe worth remembering 2013. Nicholls finished runner-up to Woffinden in the British Final. Harris (3rd) got the wildcard instead. I'm a Harris fan and wanted him to win this meeting but I don't really see that he's in much of a position to complain given the chances he's had previously. Brennan's time will come. He's been unfortunate to miss over a year of development through Covid and injury but you can see the progress he's making. Hopefully he'll be given the 1st reserve position, get a couple of rides and I'm sure he'll get the wildcard sooner rather than later.
  2. Was going to say I was surprised at the reaction here but maybe I shouldn't have been! That seemed the sensible decision to me, to go with a winner on race times would have been a complete farce. Clearly it was unfortunate for Harris and Brennan especially but someone was going to miss out whatever they decided. Let's not forget the whole Cardiff wildcard thing is a bonus anyway, the main focus should be on the British champion and the fairest way of doing that was obviously a restaging. Some of the comments about Ellis on this thread have been disgraceful. He's done nothing wrong. He unluckily missed out last year but got fortunate this time around, that's the way it goes. Good luck to Adam at Cardiff.

    Speedway Betting 2022

William Hill have slightly different odds on a couple of the rider match-ups and winner of first 4 heats. Need to go to Motorbikes, Daily List section to find them and don't seem to be doing overall winner.
  4. BSPA website has Jack Smith and Harry McGurk as reserves

  6. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/results-scorers/mondays-results-8/ Did Peterborough not notice the extra Zagar? Chris Harris will be disappointed he didn't come up with that idea!
  7. Looks like they aren't even bothering to show highlights. Can't say there's no room in the schedule as the highlights from last week's Premiership meeting are being replayed 3 times on Friday
  8. Wednesday 27th meeting isn't being shown on Eurosport 2. Nothing else live on, but they are showing highlights of the last GP between 6-7pm!

Hans Andersen favourite in the 1.30 at Curragh this afternoon. Unusual way of trying to find form but good luck to him!

    Birmingham Brummies 2022

Really poor that it wasn't made clear at the time that Ellis was likely to only be a temporary signing, I feel sorry for anyone who bought a season ticket after it was announced. No club in the sport is really in a position where they can afford to lose fans with moves like this, even more so one like Birmingham who have clearly struggled in recent times. It's not difficult to understand that you have to be honest, this should have been in the original press release and I'm sure people would have understood.

    Eurosport

I wonder if he's interested in other sports? Sky's Super Sunday viewers would surely double if he joined Roy Keane and Graeme Souness in the studio.

    Peterborough v Belle Vue - 9th May

I assume that Pickering hasn't done anything like that before and probably doesn't know Kelvin too well either so I think he did a good job last night, certainly an improvement on Crump. Going forward I do think they need someone regular alongside Kelvin whether that's as the lead or co-commentator but it's pretty much impossible to replace Nigel and the partnership they had.

    Plymouth Gladiators 2022

With a bit of patience Atkins might well have ended up being the reserve benefitting from extra rides after Gilkes' unfortunate injury. Garry May has always made the most of reserve changes so riders should know what to expect when signing for one of his teams. I remember years ago at Edinburgh in a cup final he took Brady Kurtz out of heat 13 to give the weaker reserve (Chessell I think) his 3rd ride which left Rasmus Jensen able to come in and win it for Somerset in 14. I can see why it can get tough for someone in Atkins position but it's about the team winning. May not only knows how to build winning teams but also gets the best out of them.

    Josh Pickering

I haven't seen much of him myself but comments on here are always positive. When you consider the amount of doubling-up it's madness that it took so long for him to get a chance in the Premiership. Credit to him for staying patient and taking his chance when it eventually came.
  17. https://www.eurosport.co.uk/watch/speedway/ Looks like the GP will be on Eurosport 2 with qualifying and 15 minutes extra coverage at the end available on Discovery+

    Nigel Pearson RIP

Nice tribute on Sky's Darts coverage last night
  19. Checking again I think perhaps this could be correct. I was looking at Eurosport's website which is different to Eurosport UK. Going by today's schedule, the Eurosport website says that Eurosport 2 is showing Golf from 9.30pm whereas Eurosport UK is showing replays of Superbikes and Cycling. The golf is on Sky in the UK so I assume only they have the rights which would leave Eurosport 2 free to show the GP.
  20. Doesn't look like the GP next weekend is being shown on Eurosport 2 as suggested. They have PGA golf from Mexico starting at 7.30pm with replays of Motocross and Formula E before that.

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024

Not really worth a thread of it's own so I'll put it here.. This Saturday at 12pm on Talking Pictures in the 'Look At Life' series - "1961. A look at the sport of speedway racing, a sport which satisfies the modern thirst for speed. Also, with a look at how cross-country riding introduced a new hazard of manmade obstacles." Less than 10 minutes long so probably not much to see but might be interesting

  25. Well done to all involved with Team GB, especially the 4 riders. Unfortunate that Woffinden couldn't be there given that he pushed so hard for the professional setup they have now. Tough on Poland given they finished so far in front but that's the way it goes sometimes. Always felt that whoever faced them in the final had a good chance against Janowski.
