    Swindon Stadium

From Swindon Motorsports website The founder directors have invested capital to launch the company, employ the professional team, bring together the operating partners, locate a site, design the facility, and make a planning application. The Board is keen to work alongside partners with a skill base and expertise in the management and promotion of multi-use leisure facilities. In addition, shares will be made available for purchase by individuals in due course. Further information on this will follow soon. We are in discussion with various operating partners and will bring these forwards in the weeks/months to come. Our list of partners is not exclusive, and we are open to approaches from operators of motor sport and motor-oriented self-drive/ride facilities. CONTACT US As a potential operator of motor sport I used the "contact us" button in November 2023, shortly after the news that a site had been identified. As yet I have had no reply.

    Graham Drury RIP

Had a DT500 on the Grass with a 38mm Mikuni, bought from Stefan Salomonnson (Wimbledon). Fastest engine I ever had, much better than I was. Nowhere near the same with a smaller carb.
  3. Saturday 5th October, Round 5 FIM Flat Track World Championship. 3 top class meetings in 3 days.
  4. That's what we do Last year there were supposedly no tickets available on the day, I think that and the train strike contributed to the low crowd. Still got our tickets on the day.
  5. Does anyone know if tickets will be available on the day?

Full Face Helmets - Who Was The First?

The early Bell full face helmets as used in the States were as you say designed for car racing, with limited side vision and no way of fitting a peak. They also were too far down the head especially at the back and had the potential to cause neck or spinal damage in the event of whiplash. I used an Owen full face helmet in 1971 which addressed these issues.

    DODGY FUEL

As far as I know, the end products are all the same, just each production method has a different environmental impact.

    DODGY FUEL

The terms "brown methanol", made from coal, "grey methanol", made from natural gas, "blue methanol", made from hydrogen and "green methanol" made from biomass or other "green" resources, refer to different methods of production, not the actual colour of the fuel. So there is such a thing as "blue methanol".
  9. I've been given a Programme of this Meeting dated October 25th 1946. Does anyone know why it was held at Bristol?

    Northern Riders Championship 1946

Thanks for your reply, makes more sense now. Interested to see the 3 track reserves were Jack Mountford, Billy Hole and Mike Beddoe, I got to know them all later, mainly Mike as my dad was one of his mechanics and they kept in touch after he retired. Mike was a big help to me when I started Grasstrack in the 70s.

    Potential stadiums

The proposed site is now a solar and wind farm. In my opinion it was never going to happen, as usual Bristol City Council offered support but wouldn't do anything to allow it to happen. I've seen a couple of proposed motorcycle related projects go the same way.
  12. In the 50 years I've been involved with Grasstrack there have been many meetings in October affected by or cancelled due to rain, but the same is true of every other month. Frittenden in July and the British Championships at Ledbury in August were both abandoned. I blame Brexit
  13. Ledbury Spooktacular both days cancelled due to waterlogged track
  14. There's been a couple at Owlselbury, near Winchester this year and already one planned there in April. Kent has quite a few tracks, GTSA run near Frittenden and have applied for next years Masters, probably run a couple of more meetings as well. Astra have announced they'll run the Champion of Champions at Swingfield in September. Frittenden Club, in my opinion one of the best clubs with one of the best tracks in the country, usually run the Battle of Britain in May, Summer Pairs in July and the Frittenden Flyer in September. Club level meetings but because the track's so good always get a fantastic entry. All these meeting should be worth watching.
  15. It is the same John Elliott, and still very competitive.
  16. I think Pieman 72 is as confused about Speedway as he is about Grasstrack Quote
  17. i watched that too. A poor advert for Longtrack, shouldn't be run on a Speedway track IMO. FIM is trying to introduce Poland to Longtrack, but I don't think that's the way and judging by the tiny crowd it's not working. I doubt Zach was happy with 7 points from a possible 20 in the heats.

    British final 2021

BSPL "rules" still have to abide by the law, whether Employment or Restraint of Trade laws. As Vince said, the ACU have previously tried to ban riders who've rode under other organising bodies, when taken to court they lost. Are the BSPL trying to deter other riders by making an example of Connor?

    Stadium Racing

    Both meetings cancelled, track waterlogged

    Stadium Racing

I don't know where all these Grasstrackers are coming from for "Stadium Racing". One off meetings on Speedway tracks are well supported, but most Grasstrackers are weekend riders and can't or don't want to ride in the week. There's a great 2 days of Grasstrack this weekend at Pencombe, Bromyard, Herefordshire HR7 4SL. Saturday 7th, British Championship for 250, 350 Solos and 500 Sidecars and 1000 Left Hand Sidecars. Sunday 8th, The Ledbury Flyer big open meeting for 500 Solos and 1000 Right Sidecars. Admission £15 each day or £25 for both days, Under 16s free. Camping available, Speedway GP being shown on Saturday.
  21. I'm not sure that the Grasstrack model is the way to go for Speedway. Some club meetings don't get much of a crowd, mainly friends and family. This year is a bit different, because of the lack of meetings here and abroad those meetings that are running are getting good class entries and healthy crowds. Usually only the meetings with 500 solos and 1000 RH sidecars such as the Masters and a few big open meetings get big crowds.
  22. Not if you read the dirthub report
  23. Not 250s, regular Grasstrack 500s
