  1. That makes it a must watch then, with the poor PL Pairs turnout.
  2. To be honest, I have to agree with you about the 600 quote, it looked quite a bit more than that. You are possibly right about a lot of the older generation having higher disposable income, but there also a lot that don't. I have to keep a home and everything that goes with it in life, for well under £200 a week, and I mean well under £200, due to having a reduced pension as a result of having to give up work in 1986 through health issues. I'm not picking holes in what you say, but just saying from my perspective. With regards to getting people into the stadiums, I suppose we could all come after with various ideas. I do know for a fact in the case of King's Lynn pre-Covid, that large mobile signs were placed by roundabouts in and out of the area, advertising the meeting each time. A van used to drive round the surrounding villages and holiday resorts (Hunstanton in particular) leading up to a meeting. Leaflets were distributed to hotels and information centres, and the local newspapers and Radio Norfolk, gave the club, and still do, excellent coverage.
  3. It was a worrying post meeting conference for sure, and as Keith said, the crowd for the previous meeting was 600, and it was obvious for last nights meeting, it was even less. Clubs in the NDL can survive on that, but certainly not the Premiership or Championship. I've not been to many tracks this season, but Birmingham doesn't look good, Leicester doesn't look any better than it did in the Championship. Who is going to buy into an expensive sport with crowd levels like that? I really felt for Keith, who at times looked quite emotional during his speech, and just hope the sport reorganises itself into a more financially beneficial way of running in 2024, so that we don't lose clubs like King's Lynn. I've read the reports about the Eurosport coverage, and a friend who is out in France was watching it, and was messaging me, saying it was terrible. The meetings that I've watched (not last night), some of the camerawork has been dire. Last nights meeting I thought was very good watching it at the stadium, and the last two meetings have shown a much better bond and performance from the riders. Only they know why.
  4. Simon is riding extremely well for Scunthorpe this season, and whenever he's ridden for us, he's always given 100%, and not faked engine problems when last, like many do. I don't know why so many people knock him so often, although that isn't the case in these past few postings. He's local and has quite a few friends and some family that come through the turnstiles when he's riding, which is good for the club. He rides the Adrian Flux Arena well, so I'd be in favour of giving him a chance in the side. If Jakobsen & Pickering now don't want to ride for us, then thank you for your efforts whilst with us, but good riddance, as we want riders that are happy at the club. Okay, I've put my tin hat on, and am waiting for a barrage of attacks and insults.

    Kings Lynn 2023

It's still not been officially announced as far as I'm aware, so we don't know for sure that My Blobby is right.
  6. I do understand that, I honestly do. But people come along when it's not on TV despite the things you mention, which I appreciate is a lot of money. Nobody surely are watching it for free on TV, as you're having to pay for a package that includes Eurosport, or purchase Discovery+ I'm not trying to pick holes in your thoughts, because we are all entitled to our own opinions, and I respect yours, but as a matter of interest, what do you personally think would entice people to attend, that now don't intend doing so. Just asking that's all.

Hiya mate. Where has that been announced?
  8. Spot on Phil. Stopping at home watching it on TV (especially KL fans) will not be helping their/our club financially. If we want to carry on seeing riders like Artem Laguta every week, then the club needs their admission money to help make that happen. We've got an undefeated World Champion in our team, so lets savour every meeting we've got him. I noticed the crowd was well down on last weeks televised meeting at Ipswich, and that's not going to help them keep Emil Sayfutdinov, who they quite rightly adore, which would be a shame. East Anglia currently have what I consider the two best riders currently racing in British Speedway, and the only way we're going to keep them here, is by going along and supporting their respective clubs, even when TV cameras are there.
  9. Certainly has the makings of being a good meeting. Bald Bloke is right, Richard Lawson could cause us some problems, and the Fricke v Laguta clashes should be worth the admission money alone. You can't beat live speedway, with its atmosphere, which you don't get on TV. So I hope the 'Stars' fans still come along and support their club.

    Kings Lynn 2023

If you get stuck behind a Fowler & Welch monster, that only seems to do 25MPH from Sleaford to Newark, you can be looking at 3-hours.

    Kings Lynn 2023

If it hadn't been for Buster saving the club back in the 90's, we might not have had speedway in Norfolk since that time. So we've got a lot to thank him for.

    King's Lynn v Wolves 15/06/23

I hope you're right, as Norfolk can ill afford to lose it's only club.

If it means cutting costs, and keeping the club in business, we should move into the Championship in 2024.

That would be a good move.
  15. I have to agree with all of that, as R/R for Kurtz only reaped 6-points. Toft certainly was competitive last night, and we need that to continue. Laguta is off this planet, and by far the best rider in the Premiership, what a joy to watch. It's time now that both him and Sayfutdinov were given wild cards in next season GP Series. I certainly wouldn't off load Edwards, as like Jenkins at Peterborough, he's showing so much promise. I like and feel sorry for Jorgensen, because he is a very good rider, but I think he's now found himself in the same position that Kerr and Riss were in, he needs a change of scenery to revitalise himself. Klindt is close to a carbon copy of Kasprazak, sometimes he will, sometimes he won't. Unlike most people, I've never been sure about Pickering. But as the saying goes these days, "It Is What It Is", and where really are the answers. Ipswich and Peterborough are both voicing complaints, and we can't all get the answers we want. I feel sorry for Alex, he's putting his heart, soul and money into this club, and deserves to succeed.
  16. That is a real shame, and I would think he will return at some point. He looked so promising as a youngster, and that ability is still within him. He needs to get his head in the right (positive) place, and carry on practising wherever he can, and return to the sport next season, better for it. Only he can do that, nobody else. So good luck Kyle as you try to reinvent yourself. You've got talent, so please don't throw it away, and return in 2024 with a different mindset, you can do it.
  17. I agree Bagpuss that for whatever reason, we just can't gate. As for riding on the 'clay', and as far as I know, other tracks use a mixture of that, it's the same for all 14-riders. It's such a shame that racing has become so poor, when we used to be the envy of not just the other clubs in this country, but those overseas too. But to be honest, when do you ever see anything equal to or better at places like Ipswich & Wolverhampton?
  18. I don't know what angles BSN were showing, because I'm not into that. But I was at the meeting, and it was a big crowd, with people queuing from the ticket office through the car park and out onto the street 15-minutes before start time, that's why the start was delayed.

    Ipswich v Wolves June 1st

I agree about Joe, it's a step to high to soon for the lad. He like his brother, are great prospects for the future, if the sport has a future, and I'd hate to see his confidence destroyed.
  20. I couldn't hear single one. Unfortunatlty, Kevin for the most part was giving them when their was bike noise, plus he tends to let his voice drop when he gets to the winning times. But, he's had to step into Edwin's shoes, without doing this job on a regular basis, so hopefully will get better from that point of view, as time passes.
  21. King's Lynn have made it quite clear, that as soon as Pickering is fit, he will be going back into the team, obviously at the expense of A.N. Other, so quite where the idea comes from that he's wound up, beggars belief.
  22. As a neutral, I thought last nights meeting was very good, and but for the injury to Basso, I think Peterborough would have won, as his IRR points only totalled one. I read certainly people being critical about Richie Worrall on this forum, but to be honest, I think he looks okay. Obviously you need a No 1, as has been well documented. I've seen Rohan Tungate mentioned, but I personally think that Kasprzak would be worth a gamble, as the East of England Arena would have suited his style of racing, and I'm sure he'd be as good as anyone else who's been suggested, at home anyway. Anyway, I wish the club all the luck in the world for the rest of the season, and give them the support they need whilst you can.
  23. I made my feelings known yesterday when this terrible and inexcusable news broke. I've woken up this morning, and feel even more anger towards the SCB over this senseless and childish decision. Speedway is dying as quick as the Titanic sank, surely they must see that, so why SCB, why are you taking this stance (aka throwing your toys out of your pram), and sending the sport we ALL love, to the depths of no return. I know that you people deny in the most part, about reading social media postings, but the world and his friend know that you do. PLEASE TELL US, THE PAYING PUBLIC, why you have developed this hatred, against the people that are trying to help our sport survive for many more years to come, and at the same time, provide entertainment for all ages, something lacking in the world of speedway as we know it at the moment. as dwindling crowds prove. As things stand at the moment, Workington, Kent and Mildenhall, are the only two stand alone clubs in the NDL, with the latter in particular, doing everything in their power, to keep their club running in 2023, and hopefully beyond, with their fund raising and innovative ideas throughout the close season, due to alarm bells ringing over falling attendances, with people fed up seeing the same old thing, week upon week, and they are succeeding. What will happen if both the mentioned clubs decided to throw in the towel, and join the NORA set up? Answer is you'd have egg on your faces, as it would be the end of the NDL, with so few clubs operating in it, and it would all be down to your unexplained reasons to the public, and quite possibly I assume, to Messrs Bishop and Widman as to why you don't want the sport to survive and prosper, albeit a little different to what is is now. As a man who has spent his life supporting speedway since the days when riders like Ronnie Moore, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger etc; had never been heard of, I hate seeing my passion dying like it is. PLEASE, I BEG YOU, sit round the table with Barry Bishop, Martin Widman, and anybody else involved, and tell them of your feelings or even concerns of what they are trying to provide, and at the same time, LISTEN to their side of the story too, whilst enjoying a glass of wine, or maybe a meal, and have that relaxed conversation. If at the end of it, you realise that they are right, and you are wrong, then admit it, and put matters right. It takes a big man or organisation to admit they got it wrong, and by doing that, we the public, would applaud and respect you for doing that. It's not to late.
