  1. T-R-E-M-E-N-D-O-U-S is the only way that you can describe the showing by the Under 16's at the Norfolk Arena tonight. I will defy anyone who was in attendance and means it, to say they didn't enjoy that. The crowd was of a decent level, and certainly better than that achieved for Conference League matches. There was a good turn out of local folk plus a large percentage of the usual Boston supporters. I spoke with people that had travelled up from Essex and the deepest depths of Kent. There were two car loads who had come up from Bournemouth........AND.......a family who had made the trip down from Berwick, and were returning the same night. Star of the night had to be Rye House rider Richard Franklin, who notched a full 18-point maximum, and looks a real find for the future, providing there is still a third tier for him to develop in next year. Established Premier League riders like Jan Graversen, Simon Lambert and Henning Loof were on the terraces, rightly applauding the kids efforts. So well done to the managements of both King's Lynn & Rye House for putting this meeting on, and may it be the first of many.......very many. T-R-E-M-E-N-D-O-U-S. King's Lynn 43: 1) Oliver Rayson 2-6^-3-2-0 = 13 2) Ashley Morris 0-2*-2-1 = 5+1 3) James Sarjeant 2-1-FX-3-6$-1 = 13 4) Jake Knight 1*-0-2-2* = 5+2 5) Kye Norton 0-2-1-0 = 3 6) Scott Meakins FX-0-0 = 0 7) Rhys Naylor 2-1-0-1 = 4 (Team manager: Rob Lyon) Rye House 53: 1) Richard Franklin 3-3-3-3-3-3 = 18 2) Marc Owen 1-3-2*-3-2*-2* = 13+3 3) R/R 4) Joe Jacobs 0-1-0-1 = 2 5) Jack Hirst 2*-0-1-1 = 4+1 6) John Resch 3-1-3-2-2 = 11 7) Jack Butler 1-3-1-0-0 = 5 (Team manager: John Sampford) Mike
  2. Start how you mean to finish Danzell and lay down the law with them. Explain that if they want the priviledge of your employment, then you must be allowed to be available for all speedway meetings at the Norfolk Arena.....and hey, talk them into coming along too:wink: Good luck with the job.
  3. Good on yer Neil, and yes of course a huge thanks to the Chapmans for putting this event on. The same can be said for the Louis Family at Ipswich who performed a similar exercise a week or two back, plus of course clubs like Scunthorpe and Sittingbourne in particular, who work so hard to try and bring young riders through. Cya Wednesday and hope that my deafness has disappeared by then, so that I can listen to you guys as well as talk to you. Mike
  4. Good on ya Bagpuss, any more locals coming? So far it stands at three from Norfolk (Belton, Fakenham & Heacham), and one apiece from Cambridgeshire, Essex & Suffolk. Anyone coming from King's Lynn?
  5. Neil - Parsloes - PhilK - Mimmo - Swift Saint. Well it looks like the meeting is guaranteed five people watching, as we're the only ones that have made any posts on the meeting. Come on King's Lynn fans, with no Stars home meeting next week, and an admission price of just £8, surely you're coming along. Let's hear your thoughts on the planned meeting, and whether you'll be there or not....."LETS BE 'AVING YOU". Mike
  6. You TWIT Parsloes, now he won't come!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna me a cheap night for you and Phil then, cos I'm teetotal.
  7. I'll be there, as these youngsters need everyone's support. It won't do them much good riding in front of empty terraces.
  8. Neil, The meeting has the usual start time of 7.30pm. ADULTS £8 inc Race Sheet CONCESSIONS £6 inc Race Sheet JUNIORS £3 inc Race Sheet KIDS 11 yeara and under FREE Should be an interesting meeting, and I just hope for the youngsters sakes, that the public turn out and support it. Mike

The final meeting ever staged at New Hammond Beck Road was on the 1st August 1987 with the Barracudas losing out to Eastbourne 23-55 in a National League encounter. It's true that Steve Lomas was the last ever track record holder, with a time of 60.0 seconds, that he recorded on the 12th September 1982. The scorers from that meeting were as follows: - BOSTON: Andy Hines 9 Jon Cooper 6 Andy Fisher 4 Mark Lyndon 3 Garry Clegg 1 Anthony Hulme 0 Chris Mulvihill 0 (Team manager: - Mick Hines) EASTBOURNE: Martin Dugard 12 Gordon Kennett 11 Andy Buck 11 Dean Standing 9 Keith Pritchard 7 Kevin Pitts 3 Darren Standing 2 (Team manager: - Russell Lanning) The meeting was refereed by Mr G.A.Dalby Boston Officials for that final meeting were:- CLERK OF THE COURSE: Alec Louth PITS MARSHAL: Peter Burton COLOUR MARSHAL: Colin Swan STARTING MARSHAL: Kevin Knott ASSISTANT STARTING MARSHAL: Bob Brown MACHINE EXAMINER: Mark Eurich TIMEKEEPER: Steve Parker ELECTRICIAN: Steve Parker COACH: Mick Hines MEDICAL OFFICER: Mr M.S.K. Bisimil ANNOUNCER: Mike Bennett (So you see folks, old golden tonsils really is as old as he looks!!) I hope that answers some of the questions that are being sought.
  14. Bob Young held the track record at the time of their closure, recording a time of 68.4 sometime in 1972. Sorry I don't know the exact date.

  16. Quite agree Steve, the Bombers should become the Spitfires and vice versa
  17. Last night, the Norfolk Arena hosted a 250cc Exhibition Match between the Bombers and the Spitfires, which left the locals saying "That was simply awesome" as they were leaving the stadium. The Bombers had their backs to the wall against a very powerful Spitfires quartet, as a result of their No 1 and captain Matthew Allitt being the victim of a road accident earlier in the week, leaving him with a badly broken leg. The result was taken right down to a last heat decider, with both sets of riders showing a maturity way beyond their years. I for one hope that this becomes a regular thing at tracks around the country, then just maybe, we can witness the start of another British World Champion. Well done lads, you were all brilliant. BOMBERS 16 1. No Rider 2. Jake Knight FN, 3, 3, N = 6 3. Ashley Morris F, FX, N = 0 4. Rhys Naylor 1, 3, 2, 2*, 2 = 10 + 1 SPITFIRES 20 1. Marc Owen 3, 3, 3 = 9 2. 19. Many thanks for that John, I'm much obliged.
  20. Hi, could anyone help me please, as I don't ever recollect having seen the points scorers from the Dinosaurs 18 Cobras 30 match posted anywhere. As far as I can remember, I think the meeting took place at Wolverhampton. Many thanks for that if somebody can provide the details
  21. Do you by any chance know what ticket prices are for the various areas. I've looked at the seating plan, but that gives no indication.
  22. Thanks for that crazysue. With regards to the 2nd Question, I've now found the fixture list that Peter Oakes published, and it was a KO Cup match.
  23. Hi Crazysue, I notice that the riders scores for the Buffalo only total 25, do you have any idea where the difference is please? Also, do you know if this was a league match, or was it KO Cup. Thanks for any help you can offer. Mimmo
  24. Hi Puma23 I can provide dates of a fair amount of former riders, but don't have a list as such. If there is anybody in particular you'd like to know, then ask, and I'll see if I can help. Best Wishes
