Swedish league 2024 signings, news Etc

We are looking to visit Sweden next year for the first time since Covid struck and take in a few meetings. Can anybody advise if there’s a regular pause in the season at peak holiday time that we need to be aware of? It looks like there was a gap this year between 21/6 and 5/7 (or was that just a very wet week?) We fell foul of this the last time we booked before the fixtures came out. We had a week in Sweden and did two meetings and then went to Denmark for a week but they had a high season break! We have been to 10 Swedish league tracks and Stockholm & Gothenburg for SGP’s and are keen to get a few more ticked off. Thank you if you can help.

    Peter Collins Book

The NSSC is pleased and proud to announce that Peter Collins and Tony McDonald will be the guest speakers at the Brandon Club on 24th November. (Start time tba) The Peter Collins Autobiography will be available to purchase on the night. So if you want to meet Peter and get that personal message for yourself or a Christmas gift here is your opportunity. Everyone is welcome with a small entry charge of £4 for non-members. All proceeds from entrance and the raffle go to help GB Youth Speedway. The NSSC is one of the Young Lions main sponsors and this year donated £2000 to help young riders in national and international meetings. Come and join us for what promises to be a fascinating and enjoyable evening. You will find all details here; https://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk
  3. Presumably most are missing because of illness or injury. There’s not much you can do about that.
  4. Well I made it to the end. It was bloody hard work though …… and I was just sat on my settee!!

    Cardiff 2022

Apologies if I’ve missed it elsewhere but is there any news on Tai? They said on tv that he withdrew with stomach & chest pains and after assessment an ambulance was requested to take him to hospital for further checks. That sounds pretty serious to me but I can’t find any reference to it. I hope it is nothing serious after all.
  6. The biggest complaint from me was the total unpreparedness of the BPSL to have plans B, C & D in place before the meeting started. Everyone in the stadium knew that rain was due to arrive between 8 & 9pm depending which forecast you favour. The BPSL should have known exactly what to do as soon as rain stopped play. Added to that us fans waiting in the rain were the last to find out what was going on. Pathetic !!
  7. I’ve also emailed the BSPL ….. obviously no reply!!!
  8. I emailed Oxford last Wednesday …… no reply as yet. I’ve rung them several times ….. always get “beep beep beep” cancelled call !? It looks like tickets for home team meetings go on sale a week before the fixture.
  9. Thank you for the links. I enjoyed keeping up with the meeting while recuperating from Covid.
  10. As far as I can see there’s no mention of this meeting on the British Speedway website or in the Speedway Star ??

    Panthers v Stars 18/04/22 5pm

Apologies as I’m sure this question has been asked before but I can’t find the information I need on the Peterborough website. Can you pay for entrance by card on the night or is it cash only? Thanks.
  14. Dan Thompson was there, fully kitted out and ready to race.
  15. Thank you ‘Racers and Royals’. Very much appreciated.
  16. I’m trying to be optimistic in these Covid times and looking to start planning a Swedish adventure to take in some tracks we haven’t visited yet. Does anybody know when the Swedish fixtures are likely to be announced?
  17. In order to raise funds for the Ben Fund and the GB Young Lions the NSSC has a selection of Steve Ridgway prints and race worn vintage race jackets for sale. Just in time for that unusual and unique Christmas present. The prints are £15/each with all profits going to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund. The race jackets vary in price from £25 to £120 with all profits going to help Neil Vatcher and GB Youth Speedway. All details here; https://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/prints-race-jackets-for-sale/

    SON 2020

Apologies if this has been discussed before but how soon after an event is it possible to watch it on You Tube? (Usually) I’m too tight/not prepared to pay for a month pass for BT especially as speedway’s foe, the rain, looks like it might spoil things.
  20. Completely agree and very safe in tough conditions.
  21. I think we’d all rather be there for the reasons stated above but I’ll be showing my support for British speedway by subscribing to the streaming service. I’m also a keen Northampton Town fan and have purchased a season ticket knowing full well that I won’t be able to attend games for a while. The main thing is I want the ‘Cobblers’ and British speedway to still be around when life returns to normal.

    NEW LOOK FOR STAR

Will the season preview edition have a guide/map for the main European leagues? Dont think there’s been one the last couple of years but they were a great point of reference a few years ago for initial planning of trips abroad.

    Norden Stadium

Peter Adams told us the tale when he was a guest at an NSSC meeting. Peter was driving Bruce and the World Championship trophy to Germany. When they arrived at the ferry Bruce realised he hadn’t got his passport. With no time to return to the Midlands to collect it, and the need to get the trophy to the final, they decided to hide Bruce in the boot and managed to get him through all the checks to Germany. As you can imagine that is a very short version of Peter’s long and very funny story.
  24. I suppose congratulations to Russia but what an awful weekend of speedway. If it's held at the same track next year I won't be wasting two weekend afternoons watching it.......
