    Wow.  Just....WOW.

    Our first Ice Speedway meeting.

    Amazing, fantastic, terrifying !!!

Didn't expect so many close races. Heat 19 and the Final stood out from many others.

Also, no practice starts and faffing about at the tapes. So refreshing.

Brilliant and going to do it all again tomorrow!

I attended the excellently run Nuneaton Speedway Supporters club event last night in Brandon and came away thoroughly impressed and well entertained by Dan Gilkes and Jason Edwards.  What an excellent night, and what great ambassadors for the sport are these 2 riders.  They fielded a whole host of questions concerning their careers and hopes and aspirations for their future and spoke confidently and eloquently throughout the evening.  About 40 people attended on a bitterly cold winters night but in my opinion it was well worth the effort. If you live within reasonable driving distance of Brandon, then I can highly recommend these evenings with Chris Harris being the guest next month.  Well done to all concerned and thanks to Dan & Jason for a really enjoyable evening. From a Leicester Lions supporter.

Thank you so much for your positive comments. I’m really pleased you gave us a try and enjoyed the evening.

Completely agree with your comments regarding Dan and Jason.

Hopefully we will see you again at future events.

  3. It’s a cold night but a warm welcome awaits anyone who fancies a trip to the Brandon Club for an evening of speedway chatter with Phil Morris. Tapes up at 8pm.

It’s only £4 for entry with all proceeds going to help GB Youth Speedway.

The Club offers a good range of beers, hot drinks and light snacks.

Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, Coventry, CV8 3HW

  4. Happy New Year to everyone!

Phil Morris is first out of the traps in 2024, as the NSSC welcomes this hugely respected and influential figure as our first guest on Tuesday 16th January.

In addition to his role as FIM SGP Race Director, Phil was appointed as CEO of British Speedway Premiership in March 2023 and it will be fascinating to hear from Phil about what his role entails and his hopes and expectations for the top tier of British Speedway going forward.

We hope that you can join us as we extend a warm welcome to Phil. The meeting starts at 8pm and everyone is welcome.

Venue: Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, CV8 3HW

    Entrance fee for members £2.00

    Entrance fee for non-members £4.00

All proceeds from the entrance fee and raffle tickets go towards helping British Youth Speedway, through our association with the Young Lions.

  5. Apologies if I’ve missed it somewhere but are the Swedish fixtures out yet?

I’ve just spent ages stumbling around the internet and can see that the 2023 Elitserien fixtures were announced in November 2022 and the Allsvenskan in mid January 2023. But haven’t found this years fixtures yet.

We managed to go to Piraterna and Vargarna last year and will be trying to organise a holiday to take in some or all of Ornarna, Griparna, Solkatterna and Vikingarna this year. We will then have visited all the Swedish tracks …… as they stand.

Thank you for the information but sorry I didn’t see it before we went although it was no problem.

Really enjoyed the meeting. Good weather, good crowd. Lindback was really enjoying himself. He rode very well and had a few good tussles with Pawlicki. A last heat decider too and a new t-shirt for my collection !

Yes still going. Hopefully Indianerna on Tuesday, Piraterna on Wednesday and Vargarna on Thursday. Just got to hope that the weather does not mess things up.

I got confused! I realise now that all being well we will be going to Piraterna on Tuesday and Vargarna on Thursday.

That's quite an "achievement" to have  taken in all of the SGPs "finest hours".

Maybe you should stick to Cardiff?

... then on second thoughts

Warsaw was the final straw! No more SGP’s for me, not even Cardiff even though we’d been to all of them up to that point.

However we did go to Toruń in 2019.

  10. Like all speedway fans I’ve experienced quite a few “rain-offs”.

I’ve been to about 15 continental SGP’s and managed to cop all the postponed/abandoned ones; Gothenburg, Gelsenkirchen, Riga and Warsaw. Also Berlin which was a complete farce!

I also experienced the first ever England international football match to be postponed at Wembley!

England v Bulgaria (21st November 1979). From Rugby on a coach with my local football club. We got all the way to the Wembley car park only to be told that it was off due to fog! We then spent hours trying to get back out of the car park. Never got off the coach! I’ve read since that Kevin Keegan missed the replay the following day because he had to be back in Hamburg …. and no we didn’t go back down for the replay.

After the regular season, teams 3-6 go to the quarter-finals, where the 3rd chooses whether they want to face teams 5 or 6 in the regular season. The winners of the quarter-finals go to the semi-finals, where teams 1-2 from the regular season await. The league winner chooses which of the quarter-final winners they want to face. The winners of the semi-finals go to the final. All playoff matches are played as double-headers where the best-placed teams choose whether to start at home or away.

    Bugger! Bugger! Bugger!

Spent ages planning a Swedish speedway trip to tick off another two tracks.

Piraterna v Smederna on July 18th and Vargarna v Valsarna on July 20th.

Everything booked for a ‘speedway week’ and a holiday week further north.

While checking who is riding for who this year I see that the Piraterna meeting has been changed to Wednesday 21st June!!!!!

    Bugger again!

  15. The NSSC season never stops!
We have two great nights coming up in November. Everybody is welcome to all our events with all proceeds going to help Neil Vatcher and the Young Lions.

First of all we welcome Martin Smolinski back to the Brandon Club on Thursday 10th November. A rare UK appearance by the very popular Bee and Brummie.

Then on 24th November we are pleased to welcome Peter Collins and Tony McDonald. A special night ahead with Peter and an opportunity to purchase his new book.

Unless otherwise stated, all NSSC events are held at the Brandon Club in the village of Brandon. (Just down the hill from the stadium on the Rugby side).

The Brandon Club offers some fine beers, together with hot drinks and light snacks. There is a car park at the rear of the building and also plenty of street parking.
